  • I love my Fender Blues. The Jenson sounds great, but the low end could be tighter - tends to flub out. So, I replaced it with a Celestion Greenback and I'm pretty pumped. Here's a side by side comparison.

    I don’t get why so many people want to put Celestions in Fender amps. The various brands of stock speakers used in Fenders are paired with those amps well because their voices match the character of the amps well. Celestions pair well with Marshall’s.

    The Tweed Blues Junior sounds better than the regular Blues Junior because of the Jensen C12N speaker.

      Yeah, no brainer choice if you ask me.

    Jensen = Live : Greenback = Studio

    The best comparison I’ve heard. Nice!
    I loved the Jensen on the bridge and the greenback on the middle. Both has a lot of character!

    I have the BJ4 tweed and swapped out the Jensen for the Eminence Cannabis Rex(a popular speaker for the BJ). Even using a 10 band eq I couldn't get the Jensen to sound good to my ears. Was shrill and sterile sounding if that makes sense. The C Rex is so much smoother and rounder for my blues/jazz style. A huge upgrade. Some people say the Jensen needs time to break in but just didn't inspire me.

    The bass sounds "flubby" with drive because you've got the bass eq basically cranked. I tend to cut some bass as I increase gain if I can. Dial some of that back and things will get better. The greenback has a more mid focussed tone and rolls off the bass, so the eq sounds better, but I don't like the character of it with the Fender. The Jensen will do better with less EQ in the bass and it'll cut through live better that way. If you want more bass, get an extension cab that's a bit bigger than the Fender's small box.

    Nice playing! Definitely liked the amp with the Greenback more. What lens did you use on the Sony? Looks really sharp.

      Thanks man! It’s actually the stock lens that comes with it, love this camera!

    The Greenback has a nice bark to it. Does it sound better with overdrive? The Jensen in my Tweed edition sounds pretty rough with overdrive lol

      Yeah, it handles the overdrive a little better, but not the fix I was hoping for. Still great though!

      I mean kind of I guess till I can afford all the good gear? I ended up getting an HX Stomp. Not 100% ideal, but also really inspiring to be able to play with all the sounds and get better at recording. I'll have to make some videos on it soon! Thanks for watching!@@CrazyCalabrese78

      @@DaveBrownsMusic Do you use a modeler with those amps ? Does it sound good or a bit muddy ? Or do you you do something like the 4 cable method ? Thanks
