Hi Shane. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you and your team put in to make these videos. They are all informative and helpful. Please them coming. Especially these drills. I teach Muay Thai kickboxing at the local community center as a fun cardio and technique class and always looking for new material. God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving.

    Shane, I have a question.
There is this RUclips video of this presumably Russian boxing coach who in this particular video is teaching a student to throw a hook but the way he is teaching it is very unorthodox or at least it’s a way I haven’t ever seen. I would LOVE to get your opinion on this video. In it he demonstrates how to throw a hook and he teaches you to ‘Draw a circle’ and to basically roll your shoulder joint or something along those lines.
He has several videos on his channel and all of the punches he teaches are really sort of unorthodox to me, like in one of his videos he even taught a sort of overhand punch that comes straight down. I would love for your opinion on his videos.
In any case, is there a place I can submit suggestions or do I use RUclips comments and hope to get lucky or what am I supposed to do?
In case I have to use RUclips comments, here is the link of the video on the hook he teaches that I was referring to in the beginning.
    ruclips.net/video/WD-_bVRlUlQ/видео.html
Also post edit note: there are subtitles so you can understand what he is saying if you decide to check it out. I would love to hear your opinion. Love your videos Shane please continue to make them.
Another edit: just in case your curious, here is the video where he shows you can ‘augment’ the hook movement and make the punch come straight down.

Most of eastern european boxers learn this way, including myself. The benefit is, it reaches longer and creates more power. Disadvantages: you're telegraphing with your elbow. P.S Shane already discussed the differences. Link: ruclips.net/video/1YkDSa5MNpc/видео.html

I'm german, but I have a russian boxing teacher. He also teaches the steering wheel technique. I think both, casual and circle technique, have their pros and cons. Depends on the situation.

you need to be careful with shoulder snaps while using hooks, it does lead to shoulder problems late term. If you can manage to use more hip rotation and less shoulder rotation you keep your shoulders healthy.

Rokas Baguckas I saw that video that’s not quite what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about how the Russian coach teaches palm down instead of palm in, I’m talking about his elbow and shoulder movement with the hook. Like in the video he says you move the elbow in and your shoulder will automatically make it go in a circular motion, which he says is ‘drawing the circle’. I’m assuming what you said about telegraphing with your elbow and being able to reach longer was you explaining the ‘drawing the circle, elbow in’ movement? Anyways, I was asking Shane to look at the actual movement not the fist alignment. Thanks for the reply because this technique has me confused I’ve never seen the hook taught this way

Hey, Shane, I'm getting the velcro gloves and a bag I can't do Muay Thai yet since I just managed to convince my parents to let me do BJJ and I was wondering will there be boxing tutorials and Muay Thai tutorials for people who train themselves at home. I am 16 by the way and lost 12 kilograms last year and have been beating a pole and have had a couple of sessions with a friend of mine who has been kickboxing since he was eight. I have improved my technique and I actually to some degree can box I have now been following you for around 4 years and have been using your channel and PJ's tutorials and combos of the week as a reference point and I think I have reached quite a competent level in my boxing I can also throw a few kicks thanks to your stretching and chamber tutorials and have developed a couple of skills on my own. Overall just want to know your opinion and I am so happy for you to be able to be releasing gear and tutorials you have worked so hard to make.

Shane, what’s your opinion on keeping your dominant hand in the front? It’s good when thinking about having your dominant arm and leg in the front because they have a shorter distance to go. There are many other reasons but I wanted to see your opinion.

Hrd training with a sparring partner is much more effective that using a still object like a banana or mango tree which i use for leg and knee kicks and straight punches. It is ok right??

Hey man, there's a muay thai gym in my area that has a ranking system just like in Taekwondo and Karate but instead of belts, they give you different-collored arm bands which they call "Pradjeat". I've been training in this gym for less than a year and I don't know if that's normal in muay thai. Plus, there's this guy whom they call "Master"..... that's a bit cringy to me
