  • Teratospermia also referred to as teratozoospermia, is defined as abnormal sperm morphology (shape), caused by either defect in the head, midpiece, and/or tail. It is a disorder in which males produce wonky-looking sperms. This, in turn, affects their chances of fertilizing the eggs.

Do a complete workup before starting treatment haphazardly.
You need to do ALL the following simple medical tests:
repeat semen analysis for you ( to check your sperm count and motility).
      Read more at www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/resources/book/chapter4b
blood tests for your wife for the following reproductive hormones - FSH ( follicle-stimulating hormone),LH ( luteinising hormone), AMH ( antiMullerian hormone) , PRL ( prolactin) and TSH ( thyroid stimulating hormone) on Day 3 of her cycle, ( to check the quality of her eggs). Do this from a reliable lab such as SRL ( www.srl.in). Day 1 = Day the period starts.
a HSG ( hysterosalpingogram, X-ray of the uterus and tubes, www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/hysterosalpingogram ) for your wife on Day 8 of her cycle ( to confirm
      her fallopian tubes are open);
The vaginal ultrasound scan on Day 11 or 12 should check for the following.
      a. ovarian volume
      b. antral follicle count
      c. uterus morphology
      d. endometrial thickness and texture
Please send me ALL the detailed test results and medical reports . You can scan them in as a single doc or pdf file and email them to me at info@drmalpani.com
Please send me all the results together, rather than piecemeal, so I can interpret them intelligently
With these test results, we can determine what medical problems are causing your
      infertility.
If there is a problem, then we can treat it !
Taking treatment at a world-class clinic will maximise your chances of success and give you peace of mind you did your best !
You can talk to some of our patients by email at www.drmalpani.com/success-stories.htm

I agree you have male factor infertility due to abnormal sperm morphology ( teratozoospermia). You can read more about this at www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/the-infertile-man/teratozoospermia
I am sorry, but there is no reliable way of improving sperm morphology with medicines or surgery. Please get it re-checked again.
If it is persistently low, then your best option would be ICSI (www.drmalpani.com/our-services/icsi)
Treatment takes about 20 days. Should I send you the treatment plan ?

Sir we had 3 miscarriages due to loss of heart beat. 2 ectopic pregnancies and one miscarriage bcs of no heart beat now after ivf. My normal sperm is 2%,head defect 65%,neck defect 28%,tail defect 3%.And lab says I have asthenozoospermia. Is this the cause for miscarriage.

    • @ivfexpert
      @ivfexpert  3 года назад +1

No . Abnormal sperm will not cause a miscarriage
The commonest reason for a miscarriage is a genetic abnormality in the fetus, and this is Nature's defense mechanism, to prevent the birth of an abnormal baby. While these defects are often random, they are commoner in older women.
This is because these eggs have more genetic abnormalities, because they have "aged" and have genetic defects, which be do not yet have the technology to be able to screen for.
The fact you have conceived in the past ( even though you did miscarry) means your chances
of having a healthy baby are excellent, so please don't get disheartened !

@@ivfexpert yes I already understood this doctor; but does the theoretical line of the WHO consider multiple morphologies in "typicality", whereas the Kruger method is one and only one "absolute" form?
so in the 4% of a report according to the WHO, theoretically for Kruger that percentage is overestimated? (I don't know anything about the topic yet, I should read the who manual ;)).
This is to understand in a very general and theoretical line :)

3% morphology is normal. If the rest of the report is good, you can conceive naturally. Don't go for ivf, some men with 2% morphology are conceiving naturally.

But if you want try IVF in Japan is only 4k dollars you literally can do multiple cycles with the money you pay in the US and probably they have better technology.

Intramural fibroids ( in the wall of the uterus) do not need to be removed as they do not affect embryo implantation.
You can read more about this at www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/fibroids-and-infertility
Only submucous fibroids ( which are in the uterine cavity) need to be removed. These can be best removed with an
operative hysteroscopy ( www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/hysteroscopy) to normalise the uterine cavity.
Do a complete workup before starting treatment haphazardly.
You need to do ALL the following simple medical tests:
semen analysis for you ( to check your sperm count and motility).
Day 1 = Day the period starts.
a HSG ( hysterosalpingogram, X-ray of the uterus and tubes, www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/articles/hysterosalpingogram ) for your wife on Day 8 of her cycle ( to confirm
      her fallopian tubes are open);

It seems you have male factor infertility due to
      poor sperm motility ( asthenospermia).
You can read more about this at www.drmalpani.com/knowledge-center/the-infertile-man/asthenospermia
I am sorry, but there is no reliable way of improving sperm count or motility with medicines or surgery.
      Please get it re-checked again.
If it is persistently low, then your best option would be

Treatment takes about 20 days. Should I send you the treatment plan ?
