    From the expenses to the potentially debilitating stress rushing a Sorority just doesn't seem worth it.

    I’m going into sororities with an open mind, ofc my campus is really small and we only have 4- based on values and not looks (I would be kicked out immediately) and volunteering/ philanthropy. I’m really excited and this helps me know what to expect!!!

    The only thing I am really nervous about is social media- I have NO social media! I enjoy socializing which is why I am more of a sms, phone call, and hang out kind of person.. But social media is so apart of how you put yourself out there nowadays.. How do you think that will look?

    Hi! I have some questions if you are more of the shy/introverted type of person does that affect your chances of getting in? Also are the people in the sororities talk a lot during the interview? Finally, do most of the sororities sister have things in common with each other and that’s one of the things they look at?

    Oh my goodness your video was so helpful. I've been a nervous wreck, but feel way more confident & excited about the process. I have a question, I was told I should get at least 1-2 references for each house. I asked how to do that & they suggested I post something on fb or IG but I don't have either. Do you have any advice that could help me? Thank you so much, Susie

      Ohhh, if you don’t have social media (especially insta) that may disqualify you from being bid on…
      Many sororities have a stipulation that members need to post certain things related to the sorority, like needing to post big events, posting fundraising/philanthropy announcements, etc. Like sororities will require 3 posts and 5 stories per semester related to the sorority on IG for example.
      There’s also kind of an unofficial expectation that sororities will expect potential new members to have “aesthetic” social media feeds… I don’t think they say that this is required, but it’s an open secret that they definitely will check potential new member’s social media pages as part of the processes. Again I don’t think they’ll admit this, but it definitely does happen, and not even having social media may be a bit of a strike against you.
      You may need to get insta for rush and have at least one or two “cute” posts there as well and get as many followers as you can (follower count is also one of those “unofficial” things they check, you’ll notice that the girls at the most wanted sororities always have at least 1,000 followers on Instagram).
      I know this is kinda weird but that’s just the way it is these days. Just something to think about.

    Hey I’m an incoming freshman going to a university in either Alabama or Florida so I’m deciding wether to rush or not. I was wondering if you knew how it’s like to rush and rush experience in general. I heard a lot of people saying you have to showcase your roots if your colored what exactly is that? By the way your content is lovely😂

    • @KristinaClarke
      @KristinaClarke  2 года назад +2

      haha well i can definitely say i’ve never heard of the root thing😂 you’ll hear a lot of people speculate on what will happen but a lot of what i heard was never even true lol but i say go for it! u make friends within different greeklife organizations & get to go to different events/functions that peeps not in greeklife can really go to! rushing is a blast but make sure you mentally prepare yourself for long days. other than that just have fun w it n don’t take urself too seriously! it’s such an exciting experience especially when the diff sisterhoods chant ur group in. at my school, after rush and before initiation there were so many mini events celebrating new members. we had this thing where 2x a week all of greeklife would hang in this ballroom n the new members would be chanted in. then there’s also homecoming and the fraternities will ask a sisterhood in a cute way.
      lol that’s a lot but point being it’s such a unique experience i’d encourage everyone to try! if u don’t like it u don’t have to join a sisterhood and you would have still made friends with others in ur rush group. greeklife is legit a mini high school but it is also one of those things that what u put into it u get out. lmao ok thank u for coming to my ted talk

    I had almost 700 girls rushing with me, there is no way that bid day could have been like you described. My group sat together in a gym and my Rho Chi gave us our bids and then all the rushing girls open them at the same time. Our Rho chi called Amy girl the night before that did not get a bid. Bid day at big schools will probably be very different.

      i think it just depends but having an organization (esp if u take a leadership role) looks great on ur resume ! you get to click with ppl u resonate with & build a social network too. with my sorority, there were a lot of resources that helped me prepare for my future career !

    hi!! do you know/ is their a way that i could get cut before bid day? or does it depend on each school! also i am rushing this fall and i’m incredibly excited and this video has helped so so much! THANK YOU!

    • @KristinaClarke
      @KristinaClarke  2 года назад +2

      awe yay best of luck to u, babe ! so from what i remember, each sorority has a quota (if u will) of how many girls they can take in per semester soooo it depends on how big of a school you go to, how many sororities are offered there, how many peeps are rushing, & each sororities’ quotas. it is possible but it wasn’t common at my school. basically if u don’t get a call from phc before bid day then ur straight ! i wouldn’t worry ab it tho, if ur outgoing & make some good connections you’ll get a bid somewhere. chin up, u got this !!!

      If u haven’t been initiated at your first school, you can go thru Rush at your new school. If you’re already an initiated member you won’t be able to go thru Rush at your new school. You affiliate to the chapter you are an initiated member of at your new school

    Is it international? I’ve not heard of this system outside of the US, where else does it operate?

    • @KristinaClarke
      @KristinaClarke  2 года назад

      that's a good question ! i'm not 100% sure but I believe it's because although not every country has greek life, the philanthropy for each sorority (and/or fraternity) isn't limited to just providing aid/service/donations/etc to the US but to other countries as well. im not an expert in the whole international realm but that would be my best answer !

    Can multiple sororities bid on you ?

    • @BookWormanfangirl
      @BookWormanfangirl Год назад

      Nope, bids (at most schools) are done through a computed algorithm. Each chapter has their bid list and a PNM may be high on multiple lists, but the PNM will only get one bid (if they’re high up on lists, it’s likely their own first choice)
