They aren’t just needlessly spiky for the sake of it; Zenith Monsters each have certain limbs that have developed and evolved like this. For Tigrex, it’s the arms, but for, say, Zenith Inagami, it’s the tail, and so on. Think of it sort of like a more powerful EX Bloodbath Diablos, except the monsters have Zenith status ailments, Zenith blights, etc.
Yes, and to top it off you also need genuine skill to actually win against these monsters. It's not like in a mainline game where you can bs it if you have good enough armor. Here, if you don't use your s right you're dead.

@@nkromancerN just to add on to this, there's a "mod" (really just a client-side patch) that adds a new menu to the shop where you can buy every item in the game for 1z (or 1Gz if it's grank). There's 2400-something pages and everything has hex code in front so you can easily find what you need. It's a really non-intrusive mod and it's great if you just want to progress through the game without grinding through 12 years of content. Alternatively there's also a save manager, but that one's a bit trickier to use. It can potentially skip alot more, though.
Mh frontier public server (rain server) already reduce the grind by a lot. Its only really grindy in g rank end game, still more grindy than average mh, but i think its pretty cool already. You also want to grind a little in hr5-6 since everything fucking one shot you so you need appropriate survival deco and armor to survive the content.
Newsflash, Monster Hunter was ALWAYS anime-ish, the Palicos are one thing, these kind of Mascots as Partners are one hell of a common Anime Trope, even the Cutscenes in certain MG Games give off an Anime Vibe. The oversized Swords with their crazy Designs, need i go on ? If you´re going to complain about the Anime Vibes how about you dont play Monster Hunter at all. You´re all a bunch of Hypocrites

The weapon's special technique called the magnet pin. A little bit similar to mounting but it's a quick time event and always ends with a bang. It may look like that it damages the monster's entire body, but it actually sends it to wherever the beacon is placed. In this example, it's on Zenith Tigrex's belly. Also it deals loads of cutting damage, but does not sever tails.
Honestly I think if a frontier weapon should be added, tonfa would be better. Magnet spike is cool, but its too much anime, even for monster hunter. It has insane manuverability, crazy attack speed, crazier damage and free Iframes and a bunch of other things that make it objectively better than the rest of the cast

I know this is an old comment, but the reason for why it has those blades is because its arms are extremely evolved/mutated. Think of Zeniths as reverse deviants. Deviant's have a disability that they overcome to make themselves stronger, more aggressive or more unpredictable. Zeniths have a mutation that is in every way advantageous and they take that advantage and adapt to it, powering themselves up. It's the best the monster can be. Their Zenith. Deviants = Disabled individuals that learned to cope with it and adapt Zeniths = Individuals with a highly beneficial birth advantage that they grew up with to reach their top.

@@nine1690 when a monster has a full magnetic aura around it (done by just attacking), you can use the downward midair slam attack while in blade mode, and it will initiate a pin. The pin will deal damage specifically to whatever part of the monster has the magnetic mark attached to it, and it has the highest Motion Value of any attack in the game, at around 600 iirc.

Yes. There’s plenty of data to support grind removal. Tools, altered quests. Whatever you want, standard or your own style.

Both forms are viable. Impact mode overall has higher motion values from optimal combos, but loses some mobility from cutting mode.

It shoots a projectile like the insect glaive to mark the monster and when you want you press a combination of buttons and you dash to it
