Statistics show America spends double the amount per person on health care than Australia does, yet Australians live 4 years longer. Most health care in Australia is free or subsidised and the patient pays very little for prescription medications and doctors visits. It's not necessary for Australians to join private health schemes as they will be treated for free in public hospitals. All essential medications are heavily subsidised. Public hospital treatment is available to all, including those paying for private health cover. While there are waiting lists for elective surgery, all emergencies are treated promptly. We don't need to be afraid of needing medical care.
He's great but unfortunately the higher powers in Congress are not giving him the power to make the changes that are necessary so he is a great guy but does not have the power to change much
When I worked as an RN years ago, I saw many patients who did not have the money to refill their prescriptions so they ended up back in the hospital, if they were lucky. That is so sad!

We only have a handful of elected officials that want to represent the people but the majority of elected officials want to RULE the people. Many do not go into healthcare or end up leaving healthcare jobs because they are unable to give patients the proper care. They don't like the politics. The government only allows so many people to go to school to become doctors and it is not keeling up with the need or demand of the increasing population plus the cost to go to college. One inhalers costs $1000 and I have to take 4 of them, them my insulin, and medications for asthma, medication for CKD, stage 4/5 Kidney failure, almost $10,000 a month just prescriptions

I am a bedside ICU RN who has practiced for over 30 years. While I believe most of what he says is true, there is another reason people do not maintain good health; they don’t want to be healthy. Most of my pts that say they can’t afford their meds continue to smoke packs of cigarettes and drink like fish after their heart attack. While they know what they need to do, they actively decide against it. The default for humanity is ignorant and unhealthy. If you chose not to be either of those, you must be an active participant in your life. And please, don’t think the government can run an efficient and effective healthcare system. They mess up everything they touch. Both parties. Nothing can change until all people, leaders and followers, turn away from personal greed.
We need to invest much more in preventative services and teaching and motivating people to stay healthy. We also need doctors to address the health impact of toxic chemicals polluting our environment. Free market in the health care system simply does not work. Too bad the MBA's and CEO's our running our health care system instead of doctors and nurses.
