Gumball 3000 - Goldrush Rally - Bullrun Rally (Comparison)

- All 3 major rallies came through NYC on the same weekend, seemed like an appropriate time to draw a direct comparison between them. All so similar but all so different, which would you prefer to participate in and what would you drive?
I am aware I am slightly out of focus, (think of this as a tripod selfie), I focused the camera then sat and chatted, was close but not really. Since most people tell me I look better out of focus, I ran with it. Will work on the production value next go around!

Aaaaaand he found the spot in the market for a less expensive rally with adventure drives. Good job rob
I was just thinking the same thing. Kinda seems like he had the idea in his head for quite some time.
adventure drives?

Yea i checked it out, pretty cool
It's not really a rally. It's a road trip. He has a video explaining the difference
goldRush and Bullrun are wonderful......but Gumball is legendary.
Agreed
Don't forget the first and the legend.. Is the cannon ball runs.. Lol
Don't forget the cannon ball runs.. The first and legend.. And we wishes you guys will be coming thru irvine next time.. Nice video rob..
In the UK we have something called the Scumrun, where you arnt allowed any cars over £500GBP with a £250GBP entry fee per person, its been around since 2004!
I prefer the ME Rally. I go where I want, stay at the hotels that I want, see what I want, and the cops aren't tipped off ahead of time that I'm coming.
From what I've heard from numerous participants, Gold Rush is the most "all show and no go" rally of the 3, with a huge majority of the drivers shipping their cars between checkpoints (hence all the #JPLogistics decals), and the crowds are so mixed, almost no one knows or even likes each other. The documentary they made even says a few fights have broken out, and the main attraction to the event is the parties and accommodations. I also think that despite the $16,000 entry fee, you also need a charity to sponsor your team. Albeit not as difficult as paying $16k, but for a rally enthusiast on a budget, could prove difficult.
Thanks for making my days at work go by faster!
Judging by the cars involved, Bullrun seems more of a lower-end rally: the average price of the cars was roughly around 50k-60k, entering it with a Lambo Gallardo kind of makes you the biggest guy in the race. Still, I think it's the best among the three: it's the only one that involves truly an adventure spirit, it's an open world out there, go to your destination however you see fit: you want to enjoy it more? Take the longer route. Want to be competitive and go for the win? Find the best way to do it, and make sure you're not outsmarted by anyone else. And from your Bullrun vids, it also seems to be the one with the best group of participants. Yeah, I'd definetly love to do a Bullrun...now all I need is money xD
+gofuck yourself He's saying the BullRun has a majority of cars that range in the 50-60k range. (Lower Cost)
***** the guy above me explained it perfectly. In the BullRun you can see some Ferrari, Lambo etc, but as you can see in Rob's video, there are also some common Mustangs, some low-end trucks. Definetly stuff you can't find in the GoldRush or the GumBall.
One of my favorite video's from you Rob.
"Had a couple too many drinks" Yet Matt said Rob doesn't drink in a previous Bullrun?
He was being sarcastic. I recall the video. Rob was hung over.
I didnt even know about the Goldrush Rally untill this year. That is the one i would like to see more fotage and coverage on!
i love your videos, they r just so cool to watch!!! 😆
gumball is without a doubt the best rally.
In Ireland we have the cannonball which is £1700 and there's crowds amazing cars but most of all amazing driving roads. It's the best value supercar run that I think is out there. However if I had the money the Gumball would be awesome. :)
Why did he park his car where the Bullrun cars were?
Gumball 3000 > Goldrush> Bullrun
what happened to the players run rally? That was some extreme driving in those back in the day
Nice vid Rob. Hell i'd like to participate in any of them really haha.
I got to go on the Irish Cannonball last year, 180 cars, big turn out for a small country , best weekend ever
Love the Goldrush Rally, really love the eccentric wraps and vinyls.
i literally work right down the block and saw everything lmao it was awesome
Awesome Rides!
Nice informative video Rob! I would go with whatever rally took you down the best driving roads. If I want to drive on the highway for 3,000 miles, I can do that on my own time.
Just from you watching the videos Rob I would say my favorite is the bull run you guys are more down to earth and really cool. I did notice it was getting smaller and smaller how is that what do you think needs to happen to make it bigger like it was at the beginning?
Christopher Kelley FINALLY someone that thinks the same way as me, as though the cars in Bullrun are superb but it's way too serious and OTT while Bullrun is PURELY ABOUT FUN and like you said, DOWN TO EARTH!!! I do Miss Bullrun,as i can't find no full videos nowhere to watch...
i think they all have their own niche. its fun as hell to watch rich celebrities go crazy but its also fun to imagine going on an adventure with a friend and a car and not know where you're going. goldrush has its position on being the best price and what not as well.
"Very economical, only 16,000 for the entry fee"
As a college student who drives a 2002 honda civic who dreams of owning a Ferrari, that comment made me tear up a little.
relax, you can own a Ferrari if you wanted too, you need to play your cards right.
Focus at its the finest!
Gumball 3000 all the way
Wondering if Alex Roy was in any of the events?? Has anyone him there with his new car?
cheers. I never knew the differences!
If only I had the money to join but I still enjoy watching & always try to race them even tho my teggy can't caught up :) still the fun is worth it !!!!!!
I think it would be fun if you have the money to spend but I do not . So have fun next year looking forward to it .
I saw all the gumball cars and by the looks of things the goldrush lineup was the best by far, cars looked ace
who is your camera guy -_- your out of focus both times your talking to the camera. wtf
I believe that was intentional so people could look at the cars behind him.
Not to take away from any of those rallies, but I highly recommend doing a roadtrip with your buddies.
Me and two friends took a 94 325iS with 200k miles around the USA for about $1,000 each. VA-SC-TX-CA-CO-MI-VA.
That's gas, food, hotel, everything. We had no AC, no GPS. Got lost a few times, stayed in a couple cheap hotels and camped a few places.
Had a fantastic time, it's absolutely worth doing. Don't feel like these big dollar trips are the only way to have fun.
The gold rush came through my town. They also had a McLaren P1 in the mix.
Looks like the Bullrun is kind of a poor mans rally with a few exotics mixed in compared to the Goldrush and Gumball.
yet it cost way more then gold rush
I don't think 4k is way more when you are dealing with multi-million dollar cars...
Trenton Wahl Bull run is 20k gold rush is 7k-14k
Jeff Moore I did Goldrush in 2012 as a volunteer. It was $36,000 if you did the rally as a participant
SirRobbins i saw on the gold rush rally website that full rally was 14k and 3 day rally was 7k
camo rolls royce for the win!! .... and i had to check my hearing AND run that back in slow motion when he said 16k for the rally?! I could lap the country 7 times and still wouldnt spend half that! lol. but still looks fun and i'd love to go on one some day.
On one hand I want to look at some of these cars and go "why"
On the other hand if i could drop serious coin, Flashy paint jobs and wraps on high end sports cars and super cars would be something i would do no questions asked. They all look like a hell of a lot of fun.
I've went to the checkpoints on GoldRush Rally for the past two years and I have to say that they are by far the most fan friendly. I went to Chicago and saw them unload the trucks and then drag race. They let us get right up next to the lanes on the drag strip. I think GoldRush Rally is the best for the fans.
In one of these events on average how much is the cost of all the tickets you recieve?
Did they once sell skylines in the U.S., or were they imported?
That white and black Bugatti super sport was a killer i loved it
enjoyed the video. the camera you used wasn't auto focusing very well.
Hey Rob, please come to Minnesota.
I tried to follow along with the Bullrun this year online but with very limited success. I watched a ton of videos from Rob Ferretti's channel and Matt Farrah's channel prior to Bullrun 2014. So I was hyped to see coverage with this years rally. However, it seems like a big censor stamp was placed on the rally because there is no content anywhere to watch or read about other than the one or two posts on the main webpage. I was excited to see some content from the drivers with their adventures like the ones Rob and Matt posted for the 2010 and 2011 runs. That aside. I love the Bullrun's lack of directions with the route. The fact that you don't know your route prior to the rally is really cool. Gumball is just too exclusive for the public it seems. Goldrush looks neat and from what I can find online, it's basically a copy of the Bullrun with less personality and a lower entry fee. But you know your route. That's not really an adventure. Just my opinion. I hope to enter the Bullrun in a couple years when I get my car up to the level of some of the cars that enter. If the rally is still around and everyone hasn't left for Goldrush by then. Either way, great channel Rob. My fiance and I loved your videos involving the best police moments from your Bullrun rallies.
have you heard of the 2904 rally??its like a poor mans bull runits coast to coast for $2904and thats the mileage of the trip aslo
hey what is the name of the second song?
Rob what rally's are you interested in taking part in the coming future?
Where can i join
Where do I sign up
Are there any rallys for the everyday guy where I won't have to spend a shit load of money??
Really injoyed the bull run but it does seem its getting smaller. Attended gold rush with a good friend of mine really injoyed that as well attending the gum ball next year just to experience something different but more then likely going to stay with gold rush, hope no ass holes call in on us rob jk lol see ya out their
Can someone let me know how the r34 is there without it being listed under show
Thanks Rob. Great videos. Would a Kawasaki 2014 ZX 14R ABS qualify for one of your rally's? It would definitely keep up. hehehehe. Just joking. Also do you ever come to St. Augustine FL? Thanks again. :)
Not his rally's lol.
Man it is awesome to watch you guys driving in different rallies, just sucks there isn't some set up more for the working man type of income. Don't get me wrong, I understand the whole concept of the big three, but there are sooo many guys like me out there who have cars that can run with or outrun many of the cars the mega rich drive on the rallies. That's honestly one of the kick ass things about you Rob, you could rock the ultra high end cars all the time, but no you rock the cobra R or the vette. I don't have cash to have a choice, but my 94 z28 388ci stroker, 2800lb, 582hp at the wheels Camaro with a hurst built viper internal 6sp can easily run with almost anything, and yeah it might be only a 40 grand Michigan sleeper, but its built to run fast and hard and still get decent mpg. And in Michigan around Flint where Im at there are lots of cars like mine and we love to drive and have fun, but we cant pay crazy rally fees cause we don't have money like that. So I really think if we somehow could get a workin mans rally started it would explode, just look at hot rod power tour, its cheap at gets so much bigger and better every year, but that's a tour, we want to drive for real......
Try the dustball rally if your still interested 4 years later haha
GoldRush is my favorite, and will always hold a special place in my heart!😏👌
How come you didn't do any one of them?
Gumball for sure! It attracts the most eccentric people making for great situations.
For the Bullrun even though the checkpoints aren't announced prior, do the participants have like a map guiding them on the best route along the way or do they just wing it on there own?
No, that's what makes it so much fun.
Why the hell are the entrance fees so high? Whats to stop you from just following the other people for free
Got some focusing to do...
I was really hoping for a Ferrari F70 at the Gumball3000 this year. Imagine a team of an F70, P1, and 918! That would be cool.
I know what you mean by F70 but you should say LaFerrari instead since people aren't as familiar.
THEMrASSHOLEish I know but LaFerrari just sounds...... wired I guess. F70 has more meaning.
TacoSeniour I completely agree with you.
F70 does not exist.
That's like saying Barack Obama should be called Brumack Osama because it sounds better.his mother gave him the name so that it his name.
Ferrari gave her the LaFerrari name so that is what it is. Only the F40 and F50 had that type of name. The Enzo was not the F60
+J Cortez The F150 was used as it's Project name, but F70 is the Offical realeased name of the LaFerrari...
Iam not sure but guess the Gumball 3000 are the only rally there are going to Europa and therefore it have to be more famous.. :) - But guess that the Bullrun and Goldrush are fun as hell to
is that jrome from dormtainment at 2:55
rob are you doing bull run 2015?
Are you planning on doing one of these runs one day l
.... He has videos of him doing Bullrun. Even said he did it in the video lol
You going to be doing any rallys in the future?
did u paint your corvette matte blue?
I agree completely. Im a New York based photographer and when I heard that we were getting all these rally's in 48 hours I grabbed my gear and prepared for a long trip, the bull run was cool (I actually got into the drivers meeting by paying multiple people off) the gumball was lame and virtually all the cool cars skipped the US leg all together (there were more cars there not in the rally than actual gumball cars) and the gold rush was the best by far with the coolest cars and the fact that I've worked with team Salamone before was really cool.
how does xzibit have any money left at all?
So.....with the $20-$100K entry fee.....are all the hotels included?
1 Day I'm gonna be in that line up! 1 Day!
Two guys making average income (50k~ a year) looking to get into a rally. What do you suggest Rob? it makes my heart cry when I think that its possible I'll never be able to take part in some of those big rallys.
look at Modball Rally.
Rob are you still doing the Bullruns in the future?
Let's play name that song @ 3:02
how did they get a skyline street legal in the states?
Paid a lot of money. It usually costs more than 30 grand for the parts, labor and importation paperwork.
Did you paint your corvette?!?
I am going to enter a rally next year in my 01 vette zo6 but don't know which one?
Do the goldrush
Don't do gold rush or gumball. Those are for real exotics
If you want to get passed by Hypercars and supercars sure
XTRZ55
With my Stage II ProCharger and exhaust 650hp?
If you do goldrush or gumball
How about the targa trophy?
Team Wolfpack of the Gumball3000 rally was just epic and for the peolpe talkin about the line up of cars there was there shit load of car that join when got to the uk leg
how did that guy get a skyline in america and be legal
They aren't illegal you just have to do alot of modifications due to the different emissions standards in Japan.. but r32's are perfectly legal as is because they are considered a classic car
Needs more Spyker's!
lets see the corvette wrap
Oh shit! David Hasselhoff was out there?!
How was there a r34 there ?
Which rally is the cheapest cause I wanna join with my subie
He said the cheapest one had a $16k entry fee. That's not cheap for most people.
Unless this subie is made of pure gold you are going to look like a want to be. Subies don't belong there.
Lol
20k
***** lol i mean if that one guy joined with a crx then I think I can cause my friend dad is filthy rich and said that we should do it with his R33
Hey Rob, are the designs painted on? I really love the style but don't want to shell out 10k to get a car painted with that design
+TheNamesFlinn all wraps
Why would all 3 rallies happen at the same time, to get the most participants wouldn't it be best for the three major rallies to stager themselves over the year.
20 thousand dollars sounds crazy for that , you are not even getting paid to do the thing , but I would agree that it would be fun , Wish I could be in that one day
Stop talking like a poor man....
Is that a laferrari behind Rob??? Im not sure
No.
There's a 458 Italia and a 458 Spider, so no.
I love the skyline r34 so much sadly there wasn't a big ass spoiler on it.
Rob tells it as it is!
i gotta go with the Cannonball run as the best one.
Love all of the video's and the sick cars, but the camera focus was bugging me, I don't know if that was intentional or not, to focus on the cars in the background and not you. But whatever.
Gumball 3000
Goldrush baby!!!!!
The Maserati at 4:55 belongs to a good friend from college!
Do many people rent cars to drive during these rallys?
yes, especially the exotic.
Obviously focus was not a priority
Do you even win money ?
