      Indeed it is . Because you wouldn't find all those corrupt motives which are usually associated with services like IAS , IPS , IRS . Additionally , IFS provides more manouvering room with less political interference due to nearly non conectedness with domestic politics. If someone is really determined to use all his potential in most efficient manner to serve the nation , IFS is the plateform.

    Thank you sir for your precious words to made myself confident my decision to want to be an IFS officer , I am student of 12th standard but my desire about this service came early in 9th because I like to analyse and to understand International Relations and cultural exchanges .       @Himanshu Kumar exactly my point, everyone is not the same. Hence, UPSC provides you with a choice as to what service you want to work in. Some want IAS others IPS and some IFS it's all about personal choice. So if someone is fine with it and is clearly doing so well, then who are we to judge that person, especially when we ourselves are not in the service and don't know what it exactly entails. :)

      As they make good money they can afford to welcome their parents to their home where ever they live and also family is allowed to stay with the officer if they wish to and we can choose to work in ministry of external affairs in Delhi

      We can take our parents with us to any foreign country..I think they will get a diplomat passport as well.

    thanks sir for this information🙏..if someone is good in writing skills I means to say he or she can write in English language in mains very well but unable to express themselves in English medium during interview choose hindi language in interview then does it affect their rank if they choose to become IFS in first priority ?

    This is shocking to hear that Sir has been to a competition called United Nations
    Cause recently when I was in my 12th and before my boards (2020) , I had been to the same competition called Model United Nations where I represented Jordan in DISEC committee . It was my first time into to such a competition as I have never been into a debate or any sort of that competition . But at the closing ceremony I was awarded the title of "special mention" which is u can say the 3rd title out of 4 ..for my performance as the delegate of Jordan.

      The idea of IFS always stays there in my head when I think of appearing for UPSC in my future ...but sometimes I doubt my skills ...i know one should not doubt themselves but I do cause i know that I don't even have a pinch of idea about UPSC and I'm not prepared for the same..
      I Guess for me it's a type of slow process where I would know the thing step by step by my own ...maybe then I can say that I no more doubt me.
      But definitely the UN memory was something I could relate here which encourages me ..😌

    Respected sir, thank you for your support, my sister unable to attend this year UPSC exam, this is her 2nd attempt, so she has more attempt but age crossed next year, will UPSC allow to her next year,. Please reply me sir

      We regret to inform you that if the age limit is crossed, you will not be able to attempt the exam.

      Check recent SC judgement. I think there will be age relaxation. Confirm once. SC has given a judgement few days back.

      Sandeep Kumar you will need to check. I haven’t exhausted my attempts or crossed the age limit. So I didn’t check properly but what I remember is that SC said another attempt should be given to candidates giving last attempt this time, even if you sit for this exam.

    Sir, Is Foreign service can be hard for pure vegetarians?
    I want to give prefence to IFS because I am very much interested into Foreign service more than Joining administrative service but after thinking about food factor I am really confused now..

      Not at all, vegetarianism and veganism are on rise. But in continents like Africa it may be difficult, but a diplomat of other country will always be given top priority in any need.
