Yes, he's mesmerizing. I haven't yet figured out what he had, but I wish more guys had it. He was in a class by himself. Probably rhe combination of brains, humor, looks and sweetness. Love him.
I've been researching which teen rock groups were the 1970s teen rock groups; I found out that, one of them is called the raspberries. I've once thought up of the raspberries, make fun of Alley Oop and Ooola, including thes 2 scientists: Dr. Wonmug and Oscar.
I thank you so very much for posting this! At about the :15 mark, Peter reads my card in Monkee Mail. After losing the video tape of it about 7 years ago, I thought I would never see it again! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
That's awesome, I don't know how to explain that I would feel the exact same way you do in this situation other than to say it the way that I just did. The internet- who saw that coming?
100 percent agree. He checks all the boxes--charismatic, good looking, knowledgeable about the current music scene at the time. I don't know how they didn't ask him to stay!
I thought he was hilarious ! I was suprised because I just remember him being some lanky guy who posed as a musician on some lame ass TV show derived from the idea of the Beatles. Oh I just found out he could actually play that guitar he held. NICE ONE ! :)
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 No, he was a very well-trained musician who played in Greenwich Village before getting the Monkees gig. He played many instruments and was nothing like the character he played on the show.
I LOVE him. Everything about him. No other presenters or videos needed. Well, maybe Schnider. I can't imagine how big they were in the 80s. Wish I was older. xxx
I’ve never seen this before! Thank you for sharing. I met peter twice. Met him for the first time in Tokyo and the second time I met him in Baltimore, I got to talk to him for a while. Let me tell you he was so down to earth. He made me feel like we’ve known one another for a long time. He’s truly what you see is what you get. Love him so much! Miss him deeply. RIP Peter. Until we meet again for the third time.
I was 25 years old in 1986, and the Monkees' Reunion was the highlight of my year. There was a snow storm in February when MTV broadcast the 'Monkees Marathon', and I watched and videotaped the entire weekend - I didn't want it to end!
So good to find this here! That 80s Monkees revival, of which this was a part, was the first time that a lot of people actually recognized how good they really were. I remember how surprised I was to see that I had become a fan while in college in the mid-80s. To this day, I will sooner listen to Monkees music than, say, the Beatles, and I still watch episodes of their TV show, as well. (God bless youtube.) Those Monkees fans who made them the best-selling band of 1967 were right. Teenage girls know.
Peter Tork was a perfect member of an ensemble but he did not seem as comfortable solo. He was wonderful and likable but really shined in the group format. I recall seeing him with the Monkees in Erie, Pa, and someone from the audience yelled,"Peter, we love you" and he said, "Who said that?" And then added, "Doesn't matter. Love you too."
Neat to hear that clarkesville bit on a banjo, very unique. Great black outfit near the end. Looks like they're hanging out at the Golden Girls house near the end end, except no wicker.
The VJ role works for him... Wish we could watch the whole 22 hour marathon that aired originally... Wish I taped it back then... I did watch it though,,,,
This was when MTV played better music (or any music for that matter). I love this video. Peter is so funny in this. :) He is such a naturally silly guy when he wants to be.
I really enjoy those old Stop motion animations for the MTV transitions - miss those days of creativity - you can tell they had so much fun making the designs and color choices.
This is about the same time I saw Peter York at the Bitter End in the village, he played all the monkey's hits with a heavy metal band backing him, and oddly enough it worked, pretty cool, and I do spoke with him some afterwards, he's actually a very smart guy as well as funny, a fun night
Peter Tork gave the studio all his money to get out if his contract in 1969, about $400k which would be close to four million today if you adjusted for inflation. He ended up teaching high school for a paycheck. He taught music, science, math, and history. I would have loved to have him for a teacher.
He was a high school music teacher for a while, as well as science, math, and history. Could you imagine him as your teacher in school? School would be Heaven,
This just might be Peter at his most adorable. And bless him for remembering us lefties in that first banjo lesson! 🧡 I had one of those sandwich notepads too! 😆 Thanks so much for uploading this
We couldn’t wait for next week ..........and a new episode of The Monkees would be on. Thanks for those Awesome Episodes still running.........I go back & Re-live in my imagination All Over Again. Gosh we loved! The Monkees Peter so unreal & his quirkiness made us laugh....... And next day was back to Catholic school which was groovy too. Sister Mary Esther the Coolest Ever. ✌️my friends.......
omg, this is awesome....i wasn't even born yet when this aired. didn't know it existed. you totally should put up the micky one! i subscribed so i hope i see if you ever put it up
Wow..You get ,the world premier of "Danger Zone,Jullian Lennon's "Stick Around",the Beatles "Get Back",and u get Peter pretty much admitting he wishes he was in "CSNY".All in the 1st 6 min..What a great time to have been 15..Not him..Me..:)
Ah yes I still do remember the children's NBC Saturday morning cartoon series: 'Kid Video.' As a matter of fact, this children's Saturday morning cartoon series; has shown one episode that features of the 'Monkees' music videos.
TaekookArMy BTSLoVe , I think it was living a nightmare to have to go back to Monkee roots to make money...it’s hard for a man to take that because he left them early. It’s sad but it was also sad that others lost their jobs over them wanting full creative control. I would have hired a lawyer and sued if I was the brains behind that operation. He was the biggest artist and businessman. PT was a fine element of it, but there were contracts involved. PT suffered as did those who lost jobs.
Geez, what a flashback. The "brand new movie Top Gun"? a GE COMPACT music system that took up a whole bookshelf? Looseleaf paper? Peter's calculator watch? 5:45 Peter I thought you quit smoking that stuff (just kidding)
I still have this and Micky's time and all sorts of Nick Rock videos with them on it. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get it from VHS to DVD to RUclips. :) I have so much I wish I could share.
Look on Amazon under "Internal TV Tuner & Capture Cards". You want to capture the show on the VHS and go to your computer. After that, it would be a piece of cake. Be sure to check the reviews. I know it's 4 years later, but....
He's so handsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, he's mesmerizing. I haven't yet figured out what he had, but I wish more guys had it. He was in a class by himself. Probably rhe combination of brains, humor, looks and sweetness. Love him.
Love him too
Encantadores, adorables the monkees!!!❤
Love Peter ❤️!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss ,Mr. Thorkelson. He had a fabulous sense of humor. So underrated. Also he had a amazing sense of timing.
Peter, always was and will be my favorite Monkee. You were just adorable. The tender and kindest heart. Missing you Bunches.
RIP Pete. You were good people.

I absolutely love Peter Tork!

I think you mean *MONKEE MMMMMMAILLLLLLLL*
PETER MAKES THE BEST DAMN VJ !
We will love you forever, Peter.
✌💛🎶📺🎬
I'm just so happy. This was when I first fell in love with Peter. Now he still tours and I've touched this banjo he's playing. He's a sweetheart!
Peter Tork was a natural. I think he could've been a regular MTV VJ
He was behind the scenes.I believe he had a big part of the making of MTV. Watch the documentary I want my MTV on A&E, it tells the entire history.
100 percent agree. He checks all the boxes--charismatic, good looking, knowledgeable about the current music scene at the time. I don't know how they didn't ask him to stay!

i was born in 2006 but god do i wish i could've seen mtv back when it was good and still stood to its acronym.

@NCB - "I LOVE him. Everything about him." YES. JUST. YES!!!!
God bless you Peter! May the angels carry thee to thy rest.😢
Ah dear Peter, love ya bunches!
Omg how cool were they☮️🎵🎶🎶🎶
I remember this from '86. It was so cool having them come back again. I felt so validated after being a fan for so many years.
I’ve never seen this before! Thank you for sharing. I met peter twice. Met him for the first time in Tokyo and the second time I met him in Baltimore, I got to talk to him for a while. If there is truly an afterlife, there will be one of him for EACH of us who love him!!!!
He's just so wonderful
I even thought he was cute as a young child. Those dimples add character and he has a darling profile. He also seemed nice.
I miss him so much 😭

R.l.P. Peter !!!! LOVE THE MONKEES!!!! MTV was bad ass when they actually played MUSIC Videos!!!!
I've just gotta say it again he's just the best ever ✌🏼️
Back when MTV was fun, and actually played music...

Wish we could've seen the whole show. And what long fingers.Proof of a real musician.Love this.Miss you Peter.

Peter sounds like the one of the four who 'got' everything.
Wow. That version of Daydream Believer at 19:45 is the prettiest singing I've heard Tork do...
Who didn't want to be like peter tork when we got older ???

I really enjoy those old Stop motion animations for the MTV transitions - miss those days of creativity - you can tell they had so much fun making the designs and color choices.

I’m positive I watched this when it originally aired!! So cool to see again!!
All this needs a DVD! Feel so old... Was 15 in 1986

@2:30 O MI GAWD HE'S WEARING PETER PAN GET-AWAY BOOTS!!!! I LOVE THOSE!!!
That's great!
He had so much charisma, Hollywood should have done something with it....
Exactly.
Peter Tork gave the studio all his money to get out if his contract in 1969, about $400k which would be close to four million today if you adjusted for inflation. He ended up teaching high school for a paycheck. He taught music, science, math, and history. I would have loved to have him for a teacher.
He kept working even after the monkees.
I completely remember this!
Awesome that you not only saved it all these years, but were kind enough to share it!
Thanks!
I always wanted to take banjo lessons from Pete.😄
I would have LOVED that time with him, but it wouldn't have been for banjo lessons, I assure you :)
He was a high school music teacher for a while, as well as science, math, and history. Could you imagine him as your teacher in school? School would be Heaven,

I remember this too! I was a sophomore in college. Was it really 35 years ago?!?! No, it can’t be because that would make me old!!!
He looks nearly the same as he did back in the monkees!
+jo fa (nickluck61) Tork has aged so much since the '80's

No
Not at all.
