Not complaining either way, just curious! Keep up the great work :D

my interpretation of the hand formation of the tower is that it crumbled that way because of the influence of the god hand not because it was originally built like that but because the ritual that is occurring. the fire in the form of the brand and the tower in the form of the hand is the evidence of the presence of the god hand
Skullknight and Zodd are both dark reflections of what could become of guts if everything goes wrong. One is consumed by his quest for revenge against the godhand while the other only lives for nothing but battle and slaughter. Both don't have any deep human conections left while showing more extrem versions of one of guts self destructiv charakter traits
I really appreciate how much pops appreciates Luca. Such a fantastic character and I wish we got more of her. I wouldn't have minded a LN of what she was up to during War of the Millennium Falcon, would've been more interesting than Grunbeld.
I think the relationship between Guts and Zodd is purely based off Zod’s longing for an actual fight. This becomes apparent when they first meet, as Zod states how nobody’s been able to parry hits blows or wound him so badly, and relishes in the thrill of battle. He doesn’t want anyone to interfere either. Later we see scenes of Zod reminiscing about Guts and longing to fight him. Zod is just too powerful to get any thrill or challenge from slaughtering mercenaries in battle. Zod is still loyal to the godhan, hence why he doesn’t kill Griffith and guts the first time, but overall his relationship with Guts is that he can finally fight a worthy opponent. Despite his supernatural strength, the curse is that he never gets to test it to anyone.
Yup. Zodd would definitely lose some sleep if a few random soldiers dispatched Guts before they could fight again, so he threw down the Kushan blade simply to preserve Guts for another battle.
Zodd and Skull Knight seems more a passing rivalry of two people who should have long died ago while if you pay attention Skull Knight seems to hate Void the most out of the god hand he went out of his way to strike at Void in the elcipse space
@MetamorphMedia i know that I'm just trying to point something out to new readers it's almost like not including spoilers or background details that we've had years to figure out isn't helpful just yet
skull knight is the enemy of the godhand and all their apostles. skull knight and zodd have probably been dueling one another for hundreds of years. i believe zodd threw guts the sword bc he knew guts was much too important as a piece of griffith’s destiny in becoming godhand. which is also why zodd was astounded to learn guts had somehow survived the sacrificial ceremony of the birth of femto. please finish the conviction arc already! there’s some HUGE story plots to unfold very soon i can’t wait!
Blessed us with a 20 min video, thanks folks! Love this format too! On Zodd and Skull Knight, I see them less as a mirror of Guts and Griffith, and more like alternate potential future image of how Guts himself could turn out should he go down certain paths. Zodd even has a similar haircut as Guts, I never thought that was unintentional lol

There's a hint to the question Crystal asked midway the episode in the previous chapters, and it's the time span between the fall of Gaiseric's kingdom.
I think void is more skull knights version of griffith than zodd, the clues are there when charlotte walks them to the dungeon, skull knight is gaeseric and void is the wise man, Zodd is just a fighter and skull knight/gaeseric is strong so theyve had many battles.

keep the baby story line in mind It will come back in future arcs very important I missed it in my first read of brserk bu it comes back in a major way
So from what I understand from this point of berserk, zod has been around about 300 years, and skull night around 1000 years. I always had a feeling brain guy was the Griffith to skull knights guts.
when approached by the godhand, the egg apostle didn’t have anyone to sacrifice. a sacrifice of some kind is always required by the godhand as a part of their deal. the egg apostle hated the world, it left him to die alone in despair. he had no wishes of immortality or inhuman strength like most apostles do. so the godhand instead offered him change to the world that shunned him, to be the catalyst for a rebirth. hence why he is an egg, a symbol of birth, or kind of a living behelit. fittingly, part of the power given specifically to him, was the ability to “infect” others with demon-like powers. he is a pseudo-behelit that can create pseudo-apostles. like a touch of the hand of god. father mozgus saw this as divine intervention and a gift from god, is he wrong? who’s to say.
I think Void would be the equivalent of Femto to Skull Knight, not Zodd. Zodd was outside the eclipse to guard against any interference from Skull Knight, but it seems to me like Void is the goal for Skull Knight, where Zodd just enjoys fighting him, like he did fighting Guts. It's been a while, but from what I remember, he went straight for Void when he managed to break in during the Eclipse. I think Zodd is a warrior who's obsessed with battle and respects anyone who manages to present a challenge for him. These vids are great, btw. Going in blind is the way to do it. I'm lucky enough where I got into Berserk before it became popular, so avoiding any hints of spoilers was easy.
As other people have said, Zodd is most likely meant to be a representation of a bad route Guts could've gone in life, only prioritizing fighting and killing over all else. If you want a good foil to Griffith, Skull Knight actually fits the bill pretty well. In his mortal life, he was Supreme King Gaiseric, who managed to successfully unite the lands under his rule, basically accomplishing Griffith's dream a thousand years ago. Like Femto, he's pretty singularly driven, existing for over a thousand years to exact his vengeance upon the Godhand. However, unlike him, Gaiseric is prone to go out of his way to save others even if it gets in the way of his goals, as he does with Luca. If Zodd is meant to be everything Guts could be if he committed to the worst parts of himself, then Skull Knight is everything Griffith could've been if he didn't commit to the worst parts of himself.
I've never taken it that Zodd and Skull Knight have had a feud. They are incredibly respectful towards one another and show no hatred/hostility towards one another. They definitely fight every time they've met one another but it's never explicitly because they hate one another but rather it's because they are on a different side of a battle that we haven't seen yet. Zodd also explicitly states that he actively chose not to participate in the eclipse because he doesn't enjoy slaughtering of innocent people but just wants worthy warriors to fight. Both show borderline extreme respect towards one another to the point that Zodd stops the fight and agrees to continue at a later time once Skull Knight rescues Guts/Casca from the eclipse. I definitely think he's somehow related to King Gaiseric somehow. Also I know it shows it later in the story that Skull Knight's sword can effectively kill apostles/gods through his consuming of behelits and transferring them into his sword. I think Zodd and Skullboi are pretty equally matched
I think whoever Void was, clashed with the Idea of Evil and since we've had the God Hand, whose main antagonist is Geiseric aka Skull Knight. Guts parallel is to SK and Griffith to Void, Zod is like a body guard.
there are a lot of parallels shared between characters but i'd say the main case of the guts/griffith parallel is rather skull night/void remember skull boy is after the godhand, zodd is just an old apostle opponent for him, but skull boy really wants the smoke with the godhand
to me, skull knight is basically guts before guts. he was sacrificed to the godhand and every last drop of blood was made as an offering to them, yet his grudge defies the logic of his body and he continues on.
Agreed. I think Void betrayed him and promised the entire kingdom that Gaiseric had built to the Godhand in order for Void to take his current form. Gaiseric is a Revenant due to a certain something and a certain someone Crystal and Glenn have yet to meet, and probably some other story element we don't know.
Zodd didn't save Guts. He threw a weapon for Guts, but it was up to Guts to save himself with it if he was strong enough, if he was good enough a warrior. It was more like grooming a mighty warrior to fight later, or getting to witness a more compelling end to the fight. If Zodd wanted to save Guts he'd have killed Boscogn with the sword throw, like how he kills Wylad. The relationship between Skull Knight and Zodd is one of mutual respect, to a large extent. We see it best in the post-eclipse rescue scene. Zodd is in apostle form, he could kill Guts and Casca, he could fight the Skull Knight some more. But he doesn't, he talks and eventually accepts to put the fight on hold and explicitly let them get away (chapter 88) all because he found it "interesting". Mutual respect isn't a part of the Guts/Femto relationship.
Him getting visually and physically troubled when he accidentally said his name is hilarious :D, almost had to get up from the chair then haha. 10:07, and 17:11
I'll be interested to see if they pick up on what happens there. I didn't fully understand it out until some of the latest chapters when they reveal what they deal with is Moon Boy, but these two are pretty sharp so they might pick up on it right away.
Can't wait for his reaction when he realizes that the son of casca was actually the catalyst and the physical body for the batman to make landfall from the ethereal plane........
It’s almost time for party members Berserk. And the worst armor in the world. Damned dwarves. Y’all were more optimistic about the egg eating the boy than I was. I was so upset lol.
Skull Nights background with him being a king and having a wife that looks like you know HIM it sounds like he’s more of a parallel to HIM than Guts to me, this is just a theory but do you think that HE could be the ancestor to skull night, the Godhand need a conquest/false prophet bird god, Maybe Skull Night refused the godhand’s offer so the godhand had to go for his ancestor instead. I’m saying this cause if there are parallels Zodd reminds me a lot more of an evil version of guts so Skull night being a good version of HIM might be the case. The fact the godhand couldn’t predict him saving Guts suggests he’s outside of there causality predictions and Guts and Caska would have died without him meaning that he must have broken free from his fate before Guts since he’s the reason Guts and Casca escaped. Perhaps that domino effect started with him refusing the godhands offer to become there false prophet, that’s just my theory though
The comparison you need(can) make between skullboy, zod and guts Zod and skullboy was pretty much like guts But zod the path with the demons or skullboy the path against demons but i think this story is about guts making a new choise not the zod choise not the skullboy choise because as we seen skullboy hasnt changed anything for 1000 years because his path is not the right path: thats my theory atleast
Please tell him to read more often, he clearly is lossing track of the history and is missing a lot of information and not really paying attention to the Arc of convicction, I know you guys have more projects and he is probably busy with something else but, is not fun to know that he is in fact not following the manga as it should. Are you editing these yourself crystal? You are getting better and funnier. Ya could def make a career outta this practice
Zodd is not an opponent for Skull Knight, guys. He has a way stronger and more important one.
damn man.
I'm up to date, and I'm still wondering what's the whole deal with the baby.
What are you not clear on?
17:47 you guys should return here later
Never clicked on a video so fast
More 20 min eps!
W
His real name "SKULLBOY"
The comparison you need(can) make between skullboy, zod and guts
Zod and skullboy was pretty much like guts
But zod the path with the demons or skullboy the path against demons but i think this story is about guts making a new choise not the zod choise not the skullboy choise because as we seen skullboy hasnt changed anything for 1000 years because his path is not the right path: thats my theory atleast
All i can and will say about the baby look good what the baby did before and his feelings that will show what he could do in the future
אני כל כך נהנה
griffith was emotional at the fight on the hill thats why he lost so easy. just saying^^
Have to watch HXH
Skull Boy X Brainiac = Guts X Griffith ( Sorry for the mentioning his name) History repeats itself
baby gutscaffth
not zod . void and skull knight are very similar to guts and griffith
THE ONE PIECEE IS REALLL!
My god! The visceral reaction he has from accidentally speaking HIS name!!!
Please tell him to read more often, he clearly is lossing track of the history and is missing a lot of information and not really paying attention to the Arc of convicction, I know you guys have more projects and he is probably busy with something else but, is not fun to know that he is in fact not following the manga as it should.
BTW this is not a complain, I love watching these videos about berserk but being a fan and watching someone missing so much is painful, I will suggest him to read again this arc
It makes sense that demons born of want and lack are always looking to devour people.
