I'd love to hear what parties you guys are using, and why you think they're really buff. Also, if you have guide ideas for me to create, let me know! I'm always up to taking requests.
I picked Hawkeye as main, Risez as Companion 1, & Charlotte as Companion 2 cause the story comes real interesting since Hawkeye & Risez share the same villain (Belladona)
Duran is my main, Angela & Charlotte are my companions. I wish I made Angela my main now though. I like her play style and she can seriously deal out the pain. Duran is spam attack combos and on occasion use an item. Charlotte also feels extremely super duper useless. She is incredibly weak and once you gain access to Poto Oil in Beiser you can use Duran as a healer due to his high Spirit stat from getting his Saber skills. When I go into NG+ i'm going to switch to another set of characters though. I don't want to take Charlotte again so it's going to be either Riesz or Hawkeye as my main next time around and i'll use the one I don't take as Companion #1. For Companion #2 i'll probably just plug Angela in and take her down Grand Diviner route since I'm doing Magus this time for her. Or perhaps i'll just plug Kevin in, though i'm hesistant as I want him as my main for my third time through.
Change the language to japanese. Charlotte sounds infinitely better same with Angela and Lumina.... and Salamando... and... okay can we all admit the english voice actors weren't even trying?
I used Angela as my main character, and made her a Grand Diviner. Reisz was Star Lancer and Charlotte was Necromancer. Let's just say that other than the Crimson Wizard fight, every god beast and even the final boss, the dragon lord, all died within 30 seconds with this party. Angela is a pretty disgusting character, and is way better than in the original. This party basically has it all: Massive magical damage synergy for all team members (seraph, elemental and doppleganger spells, necro summons), Multi-target stat buffs, Dark Curse to stat down bosses, multi-target healing, etc. Angela will never run out of MP and will basically clear entire packs of enemies with 1 spell cast with buffs in place. Even though Grand Diviner is not the boss specialist, between Dark Curse and the stat-ups, bosses still die within 30 seconds anyway. Who needs melee characters lol.
@@JRPG-Mickey Yeah, I think there's a lot of reasonably successful combinations. The only two characters I wouldn't put together would be Angela and Duran, mostly because there's almost no synergy between them except for Leaf Saber on one of Duran's builds, but you might as well just go with Warrior Monk (Kevin) instead.
Katie Egervari yeeeeah don’t sleep on Angela in this game. It’s ridiculous what she can do. I had the exact same set up except I went Archmage instead. I think the only difference was my Lucent Beam hit harder. I tried fiddling around with her dark classes, and I feel her and Duran might actually have some synergy now than they did in the original; Magus has access to Wound Magic All which bumps up her magic damage by A LOT at the exchange of a percentage of health from her teammates. Duran has the most HP out of everyone and you can use him as a health battery for her (especially if you go Knight on him). Then I sent her down Spellbinder and I was doing 1.3k Fireballs to the Shapeshifters in the Mana Sanctuary. She wasn’t even geared properly for it (I had to use her starter weapon since I didn’t have anything for her dark path). I’ll see what kind of party I can make that centers around this. I think it could be just as crazy.
I played through it 3 times (all in hard mode) and my final play-through was definitely the most “broken”. Duran as a liege, healing and provoking the damage, and set to support only. I mostly let the AI just control him, and ordered him to use stat items. Then I had Angela as a grand diviner...saved a chunk of her stat upgrades until she reached that class, and then dumped them all into intelligence and spirit. She trivializes every random fight for the rest of the game, and never runs out of mp. And then I had Kevin in his dark-dark class (forget the name). He can upgrade everyone’s critical chance (including Angela’s spells)...His crit will also debuff defense. so yeah...rotating between him and Angela is just so cheap You could go elderfrei with Duran for maximum power and utility, but it’s not even necessary since Angela and Kevin basically wipe the floor with everything in seconds. That’s why I let his AI do what it does best for the mid-game...just draw the enemies to chase it around and waste time, and auto-heal so I don’t have to bother. Pulls the Aggro away from Kevin and Angela so they can be almost completely uninterrupted
I feel like you should have started by talking about the characters and how they tie in in the story. Basically by having one character as your main and his correct story partner as companion 1 you get a lot of extra story scenes. Duran and Angela have a lot of story together and even a slightly romantic scene on post game, I haven't played yet but I know Kevin and Charlotte have extra scenes and Hawkeye and Riesz. Going all male or female has a few extra lines but it's very minor stuff, not like full character interactions. IMHO your first team should be made with this in mind so you get extra content.
My favorite party had always been Hawkeye - nightblade Kevin - God hand(thibk its called warrior monk in the remake) Reisz - Star lancer Such a strong team. Just use poto oils till kevin gets his party wide heal.
Was Hard for me to take out Hawkeye for my best party, but for dps Kevin was enough,i tested...and Angela makes a better result, making more damage per second, but i understand Hawkeye is a great char, was on my inicial party. But Reisz and Kevin has to be in all best partys
I enjoyed this a lot. I started out with my original party consisting of Duran, Angela, and Kevin. I made Kevin the healer of the team based on his class switch. Duran is my tank who can also act as another support by giving the team saber powers. Angela is a deadly mage where I focus most of her magic to hit multiple enemies!
Hell yeah Mute Dog! Solid team. I love how this game makes each team so versatile, while at the same time so universal! You really can't choose a "bad" team in my opinion.
Basically Kevin kills everything, and all you need to do is have someone to buff his damage further :3 Reiz is good partner for him. Rest is just whatever since Crit Kevin can already decrease enemy defense himself already so debuff is meh and status doesn't work on boss.
@@Ramza1987 Vanadis+Divine Fist will work in that set-up as well, making random encounters even easier with CS spam and reliable healing (even PASSIVE healing thanks to Vanadis). Most bosses die in seconds regardless thanks to Edelfrei's insanely OP Saber magic + Crit hits. DOMINATES, even on "Expert" and "No Future" modes (though it's recommended you add Hawk or Angela on No Future, thanks to their "Enigma" ability combined with Duran's "Provoke", Kevin is sorta overkill anyway...). THE easiest playthrough I've ever done on No Future mode is Edelfrei, Nomad, Fenrir Knight. Controlled Hawk most battles with crit damage + crit chance focus (adding "Attacker" from Reisz and "Flourish" from Duran for INSANE damage), spamming Swallow Throw to destroy trash mobs. Enigma + Provoke ensured enemies almost always target Duran, who can't die unless you're controlling him (thanks to "Guiding Sword" cheat ability). Meanwhile, Reisz's super debuffs + Hawkeye's magic made most boss fights a complete joke. STRONGLY recommended party.
@@michaelmcclelland9876 That's an interesting option indeed. I said starlancer over Vanadis due to MT stat ups mostly. The game has so many cool options, it's great.
Going off the idea that two characters from the same storyline have special interactions, here are the parties I've used (I've gotten the gold trophy on Trials and have played the SNES version many, many times). Angela/ Duran: Duran (Liege for the healing, and to lessen his role as a damage dealer so you can focus on Angela, also sabers useless for Angela), Angela (Class choice is personal preference), Riesz/ Hawkeye (also preference, I like Riesz as Star Lancer the best). I really don't like having Angela and Duran together (they don't support one another at all and split the party focus to both magic and physical damage) but for the sake of story interactions this is the best I could come up with. The strategy is Duran heals and provides physical damage when needed, Riesz/ Hawkeye stat up the team or debuff the enemy, and Angela bombs the shit out of everyone. Edit/ Forgot to add that Duran can tank with Provoke and draw attention away from Angela, letting her cast without being molested...as much. Angela can also learn a skill to make her less likely to target. Charlotte/ Kevin: Kevin (Dark for that raw, nasty damage), Charlotte (High Cleric makes her last boss easy, Necromancer makes everything easy), Riesz (Starlancer). Stat Up the team, Stat Down the enemy with Dark Curse or sabers if High Cleric, unleash Kevin. Riesz/ Hawkeye: Riesz (again Star Lancer... you can tell I like Star Lancer ALOT), Hawkeye (Nightblade, I've never found multitarget jutsus useful, also his Level 3 class attack is badass), any Damage Dealer (Duran, Kevin, Angela... Liege Duran or Warrior Monk Kevin if you need a healer, although this team doesn't really need it). Same basic stratagy as the Charlotte and Kevin team, stat up, stat down, unleash the pain.
But wait, isn’t Angela literally broken? Her spells cut through almost anything. Her HP is a bit low, but if you play smart it’s not too hard to dodge most attacks.
Indeed, I don't understand myself why he sees Angela as not really good. I mean, in every team comps he suggested she's never here. I played her and she's really op. Pretty much any class you choose with her is really good.
Hey guys, I should have been a bit more clear about that, I just felt that Angela didn't fit my playstyle more than anything. I shouldn't say that she isn't good, and if I could, I would rephrase how i said it in the video here.
Angela is indeed busted XD, but I think Duran is even more. His provoke skill alone is in a tier of its own. And he deal SO MUCH DAMAGE in Edelfrei class with Saber elements... This guy is out here for real. Hit harder than Kevin (only if you take in account weak and strong attack plus Duran's Edelfrei skill. Kevin deals more damage overall since in Divine First his CS meter almost never drop, so he can CS bosses to death)
I am still on my first run in Trials of Mana. I had Hawkeye go the ninja master route which is very powerful. Duran went the Leige route. The heals from him saved my party a couple times. Angela went the Grand Diviner route. Angela is Angela. She is the glass cannon.
I picked Duran because he so main character-ish made him the tank/healer. Angela next because her story's connected and I wanted to mess with elemental effectiveness. Kevin cause kevin seemed like he'd be friends with Duran.
Good content honestly. What I like is that you take into consideration the new abilities exclusive to the remake and don't simply rehash what we already knew about the original SNES game.
First playthrough of the game I did Kevin, Hawkeye, and Charlotte: Enlightened for Kevin for self sustaining damage, Hawkeye was a Rogue for decent offense and ranged trap attacks, and Charlotte was a High Cleric for healing and elemental saber buffs (she also WRECKS enemies in the final dungeon of hers and Kevin's story as a HC). Now on my playthrough for Duran/Angela's story, and using him as a Paladin for healing and Light saber, Angela as an Archmage for AoE crowd-clearing, and Riesz as either a Vanadis or Starlancer for buffs; this team is essentially a "holy-focus" team and does well against most bosses and the final boss, but sees it's finest hour at the Dark Benevodon boss fight. Still haven't figured out who I'll use for Hawkeye and Riesz's story yet; open to suggestions.
I'd say pretty much everyone would fit well in a Riesz-Hawkeye party, for various reasons. When I'll get to that story arc, I plan on using Duran on the full attack (I just finished my Duran story arc as a liege, with Angela as a Magus and Riesz as a Dragonmaster, and it was a pretty cool team ! Looking forward to test out his dark side, although I believe he might be better suited as a light path for Riesz-Hawkeye, for his defense and healing abilities -in the healing/buff department, Liege is a really solid option for his multiparty healing spells and multiparty stats ups through his equipped abilities).
@@jjstarrprod I decided to go for Kevin as a Warrior Monk for my third member for the Hawkeye/Riesz team; he can heal and apply Mana drain on the team without sacrificing power. Hawkeye is a Ninja Master for multi-target debuffs, and Riesz is Starlancer (again) for buffs and silencing enemies with Seraph. Duran as Edelfrei is definitely one of his better classes, but fits better on a team that has someone else who can heal (I suggest Necromancer Charlotte because she can heal, debuff, and has Dark Saber, meaning your team will have 7 sabers to use; the third member should be ideally a physical attacker)
My favorite build so far is the MMO meta style. Tanky Liege Duran, Mr. No fucks Kevin as Enlighten using the CS build to nuke trash mobs and well lovely angela sitting on engima firing her 50 caliber in the background known as magic. People say this set up lacks synergy but for some odd reason the entire game barely survives past 20 seconds and boss battles yes a few of the benevodons couldn't see past 20 to 30 seconds. What I love about this game is you can express your type of play through 6 (three at a time) characters in a million different ways.
I played through my first go with Duran, Riesz, and Angela. The thing is, Angela is by far the most OP, degenerate broken character in the game. I beat the notorious black rabbits first play through level 65 by just spamming ancient with all the wound magic skills equipped. The only damage I took was from this skill. She murders all in her path and breaks the game. My second play through I actually chose not to use her so I can have a bit of a challenge. But yeah, she finished monsters off before the battle even really began. So Duran tank, Reisz support, and Angela just kills everything period.
Lol don't make it sound like it was easy. I beat Black Rabbit at level 67 with Duran(Edelfrei) , Angela(Archimage) and Kevin(Enlightened), I used up all my cups of Life and chocolate XD. Even though I did spam her Glitter Dust and bait the shit out of the black rabbit attack with Duran's provoke, and Kevin for destroying the orbs, the black rabbit one shot you at every hit. At level 60, class 4 or class 3, you bleed on this optional boss
I used Kevin, Charlotte and Angela for my group. Kevin for his amazing melee damage, Angela for spamming of spells and lots of bosses have damages to elements so nice bonus there. Charlotte might hang around a bit for most fights but hey killed the post game boss on hard at 1 min and 15 seconds. That's not even being max level or ng+ stats. As long as the dps don't die you can burn through anything.
Yeah, the game lacks only for that,Charlotte is useless later,if the game has a Tower like dungeon with lots of Hard floors Charlotte fit perfectly...change her for Reisz i think is the best for fun
My go to party on snes was: Angela - archmage Duran - liege Riez - starlancer Got buffs, heals and damage. Have not tried this on remake yet as I went with magus, paladin and fenrir knight.
@@Nuinwing snes version I must have Hawk or Kevin or both them in party cause they can attack 2 hit. faster to use tech skill and more fun to play when battling the enemy.
My first team (which was a hard mode playthrough) was Duran as a Duelist (a class that buffs damage from taking damage and dealing self damage), Riesz as a Starlancer (a class that aoe buffs), and Charlotte as a Sage (a class that aoe heals up to 130% to avoid 1 shots and has all the elemental sword buff but not the light and dark swords) Supposedly Duelist is the second highest physical damage in the game but I can't believe Kevin can out buff the buffs I'm seeing. 10% at the start 30% from 15 normal attacks Increased attack for defeating an enemy (not sure what percent) 30% for using a power attack taking 5% dmg 40% for using a power attack taking 5% dmg (I've been told these stack cause the damage defiantly doubles) 30% attack for "accumulating" 60% damage 30% attack and defense for "accumulating" 60% damage Adding all that up it's 160% attack not including the 10% at the start to warm you up and the Adrenaline buff which I can't find the percentage. Also don't know if there's a time limit on these buffs or if they just build up over a single battle and reset at the end.
I played the original Seiken D3. And my first playthrough was Hawkeye, Angela and Kevin. (my original party) but seeing how they made Duran a massive tank with his "Provoke Skill" that pretty much opens up a whole lot of rotation on him. You can never go wrong with Duran on your party it just depends on what role you want to give him.
All of this matters only after new game plus on highest difficulty. It really doesn't matter who you pick on lower difficulty as the game is very easy, and all you gotta do when you are struggling is just level up
Kevin/Fatal Fist - Riesz/Starlancer - Hawkeye/Ninja Master - you have Hawkeye to debuff, Riesz to buff, and Kevin to deal massive damage. Using this build on my expert playthrough and it is amazing.
Just picked this game up on my PS5. Before watching this video I choose Hawkeye, Angela, and Charlotte. After watching I think I am going to stick with them! next playthrough will be Durand, Kevin, Hawkeye for sure!
I should play this game just to say I've played a character with my name lol this is thorough, and these guides are a real time saver. I wish more gaming channels explained things in this way
Ok... My first pick was Duran (tank and healling), Kevin (his damage is massive), and Angela for the OP spells in the later game. And Angela... Her outfits... Jesus... 😍😍😍 I'll probably replay this game tons of times. The reason? Classes abillities. They are so freaking cool. And I have to say that Hawk is by far my favourite character. His techs of spliting himself are amazing. In the original game (snes) he was always my first choice.
Cool but if we're honest it simply doesn't matter. Even on hard the game is very easy and can be finished with any comp no problem. It might be an idea to look at it as "Which party comps are the most fun"
One truly NON-divisive reccomendation of mine is if your kinda struggling, pick the healer, Charlotte....idk how much different the 2020 remake is, but she ALWAYS made my life easier in the 2D SNES game. Whoever else u want is up to you, but if you don’t pick Kevin or Duran and go light, you’ll probably regret not picking Charlotte for healing
My team was Angela as Rune Master Kevin as War Monk And Riesz and Star Lancer I am very, very happy with what I chose. Angela got Annihilate and Stone Cloud which can utterly dominated every mob in the game, even in postgame, and her level 3 spell hit bosses really hard. Dark Force/Dark Force+ was really solid too for AOE. Kevin was easily my mvp. Even as Warrior Monk, his damage was stupidly high and Spin Kick is really good even in Postgame, not bad for a level 2 tech. And when the party had low hp? No problem, just Multiheal! Leaf Saber was also a great way to keep everybody's mp high. Riesz's combat was nuts in early game due to her level 1 tech having great range, but in the Benevodons arc she was mostly a buffer. And thanks to her multitarget buffs, the final boss did very bad damage to my party, even to Angela. All of this was in a HM run with very minimal/next to non existant grinding, I had to farm only to get the special seeds and more durability against the megaboss
Duran (Liege) Angela (Magus) Riesz (Fenrir Knight) or Starlancer, either works. Liege for tanking, healing and MGC Boost All If you take Fenrir Knight for Riesz you have the stat downs and still pop scales for stat buffs but Starlancer also has MGC Boost all and gives higher stat up bonuses than items do. Both become support for Angela who more or less becomes the destroyer of worlds and is, in my opinion, the strongest character in the remake verison of this game.
A lot of people diss charlotte because of her voice, but necromancer is a really powerful class. She is not even a bad attacker anymore. Angela is busted. There is no other way to say this. I think it's very possible she's the best character in the whole game. She pumps out thousands of damages and never runs out of mp. I don't know how many melee character could possibly out perform her.
@@thesaltisreal9923 Yeah, I think Kevin and Duran are the strongest characters followed by possibly Hawkeye or Reisz. The damage numbers become absurd end game.
For a first playthrough, I would suggest picking whoever appeals to you AFTER you have a good sense of their capabilities. Like that, you can manage your expectations and adjust your play style accordingly. If you want to do New Game Plus, pick the others you didn't pick. Before starting New Game Plus, unlock as many Chain Abilities as possible and save up as many seeds as possible so that you can use them for the new team (who starts at level 1).
I ran Liege Duran, Grand Diviner Angela and Fenrir Knight Riesz. That party is disgustingly broken. Duran heals and pulls aggro, Riesz MT debuffs and Angela clears the screen with AoE level 2 spells. Add critical hit boosting Abilities and Grand Diviner’s MP recovery and the game itself gets reduced to nothing.
My inicial party was on demo and i choose for myself the ones i like and think was equilibrated...Angela,Hawkeye and Charlotte. Any inicial party is perfect with Charlotte, but for second and third playthrough is useless with a lot of healing itens, high lvl, good equips and a vast knowledge of the game. I always like fast chars for inicial play in Rpgs because is better with comum enemies and fast looters, but in this game is all about CS if u control this u kill everything very fast...but if u wanna get things a little bit slow and more fun the best party for me was: Kevin - Fast and strong hitter, with extra luck and at Night Time he is better than Hawkeye and Duran Angela - Massive damage and better fitted for later with better Chains Riesz - Perfect in all party, also in the beggining but better for later too...The Summons is what makes her special,i really like her
My first party was D/D on Hawkeye, Riesz and Angela. I'm a degenerate though. It played alright. Hawkeye and Riesz buff and Debuff while Angela uses spells. Looking back I could've gotten Lifesteal Saber coins and gotten Hawkeye's CS boosts earlier to spam his AoE CAs. Riesz is just perfect as she is and was my poto oil user since heals scale off spirit. But man all those passive stats though.
My team: Duran (Swordmaster) for party elemental sword Riesz (Starlancer) for party buff Kevin or Hawkeye depending on what you want with their classes.
Duran Light/Light (Sabers), Riesz Light/Dark (Buffs), and Kevin Dark/Dark (One Punch Man) Comfy party with Duran to tank and heal, Riesz for stat ups and Kevin to punch the crap out of everything. Kevin with the appropriate saber at night deals ludicrous damage, even comparable to Angela imo.
Strongest team back then still works in this day's remake. Talking about my main team, any combination of fatal fist/ninja master/starlancer. Buff + debuff + criticals from kevin = dead Bosses
Since healing skills aren't important in this game I'd swap out Charlotte for Reisz (Light for Buffs) and then do Hawkeye (Dark for Debuffs +Drop Bonus) and either Kevin (Dark) or Duran (Dark) for some all out damage. Kevin is the strongest physical damage dealer but Duran with the ability to cast Sabers and deal decent damage as well. I'd say Duran has a better attack set as he can dash through enemies for some easy multi-target damage ( Circle Circle Triangle), where as with Kevin you're just going to be mashing buttons and face tanking while dishing out huge damage. Don't play Angela, unless you enjoy the mindlessly numb easy mode she unlocks in the late game. ( If you want more of a challenge play the game on a fresh file with the comp suggested above WITHOUT using any Cactus buffs, just ignore them, and make it so your party AI can't use abilities on their own in the strategy tab. No link skills carried over, no EXP buff, no bonus stats, no Healers. It's all just entirely unnecessary and takes away from the game in my opinion )
It is true that all the bonus chain abilities and NG+ levels makes an already easy game (even in hard mode) just a completely broken challengeless game, where instead of caring about the hardships of the characters, you just mindlessly mash the buttons to see the story unfurl at a turbo pace in front of your eyes. I remember having much more fun in my first playthrough with Duran, Angela and Riesz, than with my second with Kevin, Hawkeye and Charlotte, where not only the chemistry between the band was not really top notch (not as great as my first party), but it was so mindlessly easy that it felt like I was just passively watching a youtube walkthrough rather than experiencing the game, since it became just soooo easy.
Just one correction coming from me for this video.. Angela doesnt have the worst physical dmg output, as ridiculous as it sounds.. As a GD to mystic queen, she have passive that increases her dmg output vs non-boss or bosses, combined with pinpoint II-III and crit dmg up, she can still reach 1k-ish dmg.. but thats not what shes for anyways and reclaim is useless for her This is why i want to discuss things XD
Hey Kelub, these 3 would make a pretty strong team. You'll find that Duran will be your primary damage dealer, and Riesz will be able to buff, while Hawkeye debuffs. Hope you get the game soon, it's a really fun one!
I personally believe any build is good as I beat the game with all options of classes , there's no strong/weak as you can't loose in this game simply you revive and go from moment you died .
I love all six characters but mt absolute favorite is Angela, she is a grower not a shower however. I went Grand Divina with her and she is able to do massive AoE damage kill everyone in seconds and then get back ALL her mp at the battles end. I brought Duran and Hawkeye as my melee damage dealers. Im excited to try the other three how though as Ive played through the fan translation with the same party years ago so it will be new for me.
one of the teams that always work for me was kevin/reiz/charlotte. with the starlancer/necromancer/fatal fist combo. This even was my favorite combo to play with in original seiken dentsesu 3 for SNES. Of course in trials of mana u dont need a healer as was in the previous games, so u can change charlotte for hawkeye, and make him ninja master of nightblade.
Very true, if I were to do this video over again, I would explain that you don't necessarily NEED a healer in this game due to the items being just as good, if not better often times.
Just finished my first playthrough with Angela - Magus (main), Duran - Liege, and Reisz - Fenrir Knight. Went dark path for both Angela and Reisz because they look sexy in their class 3 and class 4 outfit. Just started on my 2nd playthough with Riesz (main), Hawkeye, and Kevin.
In the original Trials of Mana, I used Kevin (Monk), Hawkeye (Ninja) and Angela (area based spells), Kevin was the melee healer, Hawk was the jack of all trades and Angela was my mage ranged/area attacks.. In the remake I'm using the opposite, Duran, Charlotte and Riesz with plans to make Duran the gladiator, Char with sword buffs and I haven't decided with Riesz yet.. Do I weaken enemies or make my team stronger? No wrong answer I guess..
@@JRPG-Mickey I messed up hard n had to restart. Duran dark is the same as Charlotte light, both have the same saber spells.. I'm gonna do Dark/Light for Duran, Charlotte and Reisz.. Charlotte summoning, Duran elemental and Reisz to weaken enemies..
I'm new to the game and so far, I'm wanting to go dark Kevin for damage, light Duran for tanky healing and light Angela. Is this a decent combo? Also wondering what stats I should focus more on for each of them. Please help me and thank you if you do 🙏
The perfect "training wheels" build I managed to discover on my second play through of the game was: Kevin - Fatal Fist Charlotte - Sage Riesz - Starlancer When Riesz buffs Kevin at night, it completely wrecks bosses, even before class 3. There aren't too many bosses that give them trouble that Charlotte cannot keep up with healing.
Great choices! Kevin wrecks face while Reisz and Charlotte keep him super-buffed with both spells AND passives. Definitely trivializes most difficulty settings in this game. The only issue this party runs into is on "No Future" difficulty, due to lack of "Provoke" (from Duran) and/or "Enigma" (from Hawkeye and Angela). These skills are nearly essential on "No Future" as controlling which character enemies target becomes a hugely important. If you're good enough you can certainly avoid enemy attacks, but getting cheap shot is still tiresome (nearly EVERYTHING is a 1-hit kill on No Future, lol). Edelfrei is thankfully so OP in most cases he can even replace Kevin (try Offensive Stance + Concentrate + Flourish... you'll see). ;-)
Its angela duran charlotte Angela clear up the mob, duran tank with provoke, charlotte can heal or do backups. Its by default the real beginner team composition
I want start with Duran and Angela since I wanted to see they're shared cutscenes. But I don't know who should be the third member of the group. Any suggestions?
Let me ask this Hawkeye also is or has a higher chance of finding rare items and seeds now granted if I had him as a 2nd or 3rd party member would that still apply.
Way back in the day I used to go with Duelist Wanderer/Nomad Magus But in the remake it's basically Angela erasing bosses with ancient curse while the other two just screw around. The wanderer used to be such an OP class in seikendensetsu, but in trials of mana the nomad is a bit underwhelming.
I need to say that going a party of Star Lancer, Nomad and Warrior Monk is surprisingly good. I know you should go Ninja Master on Hawkeye in this situation but having Nomads buffs and counters is just really good. And they don't double up. I dunno it just made sense to me.
i was thinking of kevin(dark dark) duran(for sabers, forgot whichof the dark) and reisz(starlancer) (buffs) as myteam. sicne i read healign tiems are so common and reisz stillg ets a buff on using themto make them storgner. duran helps with all ele, mental with sabers and kevin is well kevin)
The only problem i see with tring to plan out a team...is actually getting a ??? Seed that gives you the class you want. That whole random aspect of getting your 3rd class is pretty wack. I was forced into paladin because wasnt getting the other class for duran. What makes it worse, was that i go two of the paladin class items........
i use always 3 girls... Riez is best debuff+meele dmg, charlotte is a heal decurse bot and Angela is THE range mage dps.. my first playthrouh in trials was all 3 boys.. but that was horrible.. 70% of the game is micromanaging the heal items.. and on expert or higher is that not more possible.
Party comp doesn't matter as long as u got at least 1 caster for either dps or cc. The game is fun and fair even on hardest difficulty. U could beat the game with a pure melee group no support skills. Just stock up on items.
Change language to Japanese. They put alot more effort into the voices then the english voice actors who... for some reason didn't even sound like they were into it. Charlotte, Angela, and Lumina all sound infinitely better in Japanese. As well as most other voices....
Charlie can carry man. I beat the game and the black rabite with Charlie(High Cleric Priestess), Hawkeye(Ninjamaster Vigilante) and Lise(Star Lancer Meteorite)
Yeah. She's annoying as hell. But.... Put her in you team and you won't have to care of healling situations through the entire game. She's is the best in this aspect.
Charlotte's personally is the most childish in the game that might annoying most players for some reasons. However, her pure supportive character also make the hard way to choose or not choose. For example, In term of Skill, her Light Class has Healing + Saber Buff + Holy Attribute. With this you might not need Duran anymore
imo hawk belongs on evey rteam he is so vesitle and his luck is fantastic, plus now hat crits arn't bugged he can crit faily often and all his jobs can be usefull on any team, but maybe i just like him and like ninjas, so maybe thats my bias coming through
Well I balanced my points for Angela, seems you forgot that spells spread to every power up to training points, like stamina grant you diamond area damage, attack grant fire area damage etc, also its only three classes
I think a guide for final fantasy 8 would be pretty helpful. It seems there's a learning curve to the leveling system and all that what-nots. I stopped playing it after getting frustrated and then I couldn't navigate the map or find the next place I was suppose to go.
I don't think there is a worst one. The genius of this game is I think anything works really. Some things are slightly more optimal then others but otherwise I think you can basically do anything in this game and it has merit. For example my favourite party is Nomad, Star Lancer and Warrior Monk.
Riesz is my main. Angela and Charlotte are my two companions
@@Elazul2k Shade boss fight sucked for me. Angela and Charlotte can't take a hit
Awesome build! I love how most parties have so much synergy with them. You can't mess up!
What did you put your training points into for angela as you leveled her up? I just started playing today. I’ve always enjoyed playing magic based
@@ChristianFlores08 I was thinking of making a beginners guide to Training Points. Maybe that'll b helpful?
I played through it 3 times (all in hard mode) and my final play-through was definitely the most “broken”. Duran as a liege, healing and provoking the damage, and set to support only. I mostly let the AI just control him, and ordered him to use stat items. Then I had Angela as a grand diviner...saved a chunk of her stat upgrades until she reached that class, and then dumped them all into intelligence and spirit. She trivializes every random fight for the rest of the game, and never runs out of mp. And then I had Kevin in his dark-dark class (forget the name). He can upgrade everyone’s critical chance (including Angela’s spells)...His crit will also debuff defense. so yeah...rotating between him and Angela is just so cheap
You could go elderfrei with Duran for maximum power and utility, but it’s not even necessary since Angela and Kevin basically wipe the floor with everything in seconds. That’s why I let his AI do what it does best for the mid-game...just draw the enemies to chase it around and waste time, and auto-heal so I don’t have to bother. Pulls the Aggro away from Kevin and Angela so they can be almost completely uninterrupted
Thanks for the insight!
You can't fool me, team wiafu will succeed. But interesting to know if I do more then 1 playthrough to see the other characters
My favorite party had always been
Hawkeye - nightblade
Kevin - God hand(thibk its called warrior monk in the remake)
Reisz - Star lancer
Such a strong team. Just use poto oils till kevin gets his party wide heal.
Exactly my first party. Party buffs from Reisz, Hawkeye debuffs and high attack, all heal from Kevin to go along with his insane attack output.
Was Hard for me to take out Hawkeye for my best party, but for dps Kevin was enough,i tested...and Angela makes a better result, making more damage per second, but i understand Hawkeye is a great char, was on my inicial party.
But Reisz and Kevin has to be in all best partys
Mine too. I went for this on my first playthrough. I was thinking of using Charlie instead of Reisz but I wanted the challenge an extra melee damage.
Basically Kevin kills everything, and all you need to do is have someone to buff his damage further :3
Reiz is good partner for him.
Rest is just whatever since Crit Kevin can already decrease enemy defense himself already so debuff is meh and status doesn't work on boss.
Fatal Fist Kevin; Edelfrei Duran and Starlancer Riesz. Enjoy easy everything. XD
Riesz, Angela and Duran is the best party
I agree with this. And Angela is so op it's almost unbelievable. You murder everything with her.
Angela is my main, I love how unique she is, she is pretty broken as well.
Angela is OP once she got her class changes, Kevin is broken from the beginning.
I personally believe a party of Paladin, Ninja Master, and Starlancer sounds like a really good party setup
I like the all girl party tbh.
I want to do that too, but too afraid they be weak without a tank :/
I ran star lancer, nightblade, and divine fist. Great damage, buffs and debuffs, and emergency heals and quite a bit of good CS spread
it sounds like you're talking at x0.75 speed lol
I'll take this over someone talking at x1.25 XD
To me, it’s more of a 0.5 lol.
Playback speed 1.5 - you're welcome
yeah doing 2x and it feels like normal speed
Dang...even I did this. I'll need to speed up how I talk. Thanks for the feed back.
Thanks man, it was terrible before :/
I actually love how slow he speaks. It’s relaxing
I am still on my first run in Trials of Mana. I had Hawkeye go the ninja master route which is very powerful. Duran went the Leige route. The heals from him saved my party a couple times. Angela went the Grand Diviner route. Angela is Angela. She is the glass cannon.
My current first party is Hawkeye, Kevin, and Reisz. And honestly, I think I'm gonna enjoy it!
Provoke and Enigma are so damn good!
I just started and I went with Duran, Charolette, and Reize. Dps/tank, healer, and ranged
First time I played this game many years ago I chose Reiz Angela Charlotte
Reiz will tank
Angela will Dps
Charlotte will heal
Charlie's Angles team!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure other people reading this can learn a bit too about what party they want to start out with.
God I made that exact same team and you're right it's broken ...... Angela Dark is broken
Kevin, Hawkeye, Angela has been my party and I'm level 30. I've been obileratating everything. Good video
Hawkeye is my main
Star Lancer is Key.
I never played a team without her. Especially SNES version.
My go to party on snes was:
Angela - archmage
Duran - liege
Riez - starlancer
Got buffs, heals and damage. Have not tried this on remake yet as I went with magus, paladin and fenrir knight.
@@Nuinwing snes version I must have Hawk or Kevin or both them in party cause they can attack 2 hit. faster to use tech skill and more fun to play when battling the enemy.
My first team (which was a hard mode playthrough) was Duran as a Duelist (a class that buffs damage from taking damage and dealing self damage), Riesz as a Starlancer (a class that aoe buffs), and Charlotte as a Sage (a class that aoe heals up to 130% to avoid 1 shots and has all the elemental sword buff but not the light and dark swords)
Supposedly Duelist is the second highest physical damage in the game but I can't believe Kevin can out buff the buffs I'm seeing.
10% at the start
30% from 15 normal attacks
Increased attack for defeating an enemy (not sure what percent)
30% for using a power attack taking 5% dmg
40% for using a power attack taking 5% dmg (I've been told these stack cause the damage defiantly doubles)
30% attack for "accumulating" 60% damage
30% attack and defense for "accumulating" 60% damage
Adding all that up it's 160% attack not including the 10% at the start to warm you up and the Adrenaline buff which I can't find the percentage.
He's got incredible utility, absolutely.
Great guide man! My wife has never played an RPG before and I've never played this particular one so your video was great!
This is a great start for the genre!
@@JRPG-Mickey although I thought torn based might make a better beginner game type but she'd get bored lol
I should play this game just to say I've played a character with my name lol this is thorough, and these guides are a real time saver. I wish more gaming channels explained things in this way
I thought the same thing. Never see a Kevin in a Japanese game
Ok... My first pick was Duran (tank and healling), Kevin (his damage is massive), and Angela for the OP spells in the later game. And Angela... Her outfits... Jesus... 😍😍😍
I'll probably replay this game tons of times.
My team was
Angela as Rune Master
Kevin as War Monk
And Riesz and Star Lancer
I am very, very happy with what I chose.
Duran (Liege)
Angela (Magus)
Riesz (Fenrir Knight) or Starlancer, either works.
Liege for tanking, healing and MGC Boost All
If you take Fenrir Knight for Riesz you have the stat downs and still pop scales for stat buffs but Starlancer also has MGC Boost all and gives higher stat up bonuses than items do.
My crit build Duran does 4k damage for every strike.
Hell yeah. What path did you take him down! Sounds really strong
@@thesaltisreal9923 She's doing it to all the enemies, not just 1 though.
Dark>Dark then 4th class.
Very good advice to newer players. Thanks man!
I went with the old school rpg build daran as the tank Kevin Big Dick DPS and Charlett as healer/ weapon element buffs
hahaha Kevin man. If he could only talk right.
@@JRPG-Mickey Yeah thought his speech would get better with time.
I always like fast chars for inicial play in Rpgs because is better with comum enemies and fast looters, but in this game is all about CS if u control this u kill everything very fast...but if u wanna get things a little bit slow and more fun the best party for me was:
Kevin - Fast and strong hitter, with extra luck and at Night Time he is better than Hawkeye and Duran
Angela - Massive damage and better fitted for later with better Chains
Riesz - Perfect in all party, also in the beggining but better for later too...The Summons is what makes her special,i really like her
My first party was D/D on Hawkeye, Riesz and Angela.
Charlotte is healer, buffer or debuffer
My team:
Duran (Swordmaster) for party elemental sword
Riesz (Starlancer) for party buff
Kevin or Hawkeye depending on what you want with their classes.
Duran Light/Light (Sabers), Riesz Light/Dark (Buffs), and Kevin Dark/Dark (One Punch Man)
Comfy party with Duran to tank and heal, Riesz for stat ups and Kevin to punch the crap out of everything. Kevin with the appropriate saber at night deals ludicrous damage, even comparable to Angela imo.
I'm really wishing I messed around with Duran. He's a really fun character.
Strongest team back then still works in this day's remake. Talking about my main team, any combination of fatal fist/ninja master/starlancer. Buff + debuff + criticals from kevin = dead Bosses
Sounds buff. Very nice.
One of the more informative comments here. Hope that others can read this to have some additional feedback! Thank you!
Thank you for the tips
Just one correction coming from me for this video.. Angela doesnt have the worst physical dmg output, as ridiculous as it sounds..
As a GD to mystic queen, she have passive that increases her dmg output vs non-boss or bosses, combined with pinpoint II-III and crit dmg up, she can still reach 1k-ish dmg.. but thats not what shes for anyways and reclaim is useless for her
This is why i want to discuss things XD
I'm looking to pick up this game, so my team will probably by Duran, Angela, and Kevin.
I’ll try this another time thanks. So far my party is Angela, reisz, and Hawkeye. And I think the synergy is pretty good
I want to start my game with this team as well. Did you miss a healer? Can you.supplement this with healing items?
I'm getting this game for my birthday in a few days, I really like Hawkeye, Duran, and Reiz the best would they make a good team?
Hey Kelub, these 3 would make a pretty strong team. You'll find that Duran will be your primary damage dealer, and Riesz will be able to buff, while Hawkeye debuffs. Hope you get the game soon, it's a really fun one!
I got it digital
I personally believe any build is good as I beat the game with all options of classes , there's no strong/weak as you can't loose in this game simply you revive and go from moment you died .
Completely agree with you. ToM has so much versatility! Really fun game.
Secret of Mana trio like team : 1:Duran , 2:Angela , 3:Charlotte
Your 2nd run is what I did my 1st run. Once those group buffs go out you rip things to pieces
You're right no wrong answer, but if I had to choose, I'd go with weakening enemies as it seems less common than buffing up party member!
@@thewashoutpunk Yeah unfortunately Overlap in this game is the exact OPPOSITE that you want to do here. Multiple Saves are a benefit though.
I have been using Kevin Angela and Reiza. Angela as a magus is super strong for damage. She hits as hard as Kevin full bursting.
I'm new to the game and so far, I'm wanting to go dark Kevin for damage, light Duran for tanky healing and light Angela. Is this a decent combo? Also wondering what stats I should focus more on for each of them. Please help me and thank you if you do 🙏
What suggestions do you have on classes for Kevin, Angela and Charlotte team?
Fatal Fist/Edelgard/Ninja Master did wonders with the DPS.
Dang...probably the highest DPS team there can be right? Nice work.
The perfect "training wheels" build I managed to discover on my second play through of the game was:
Kevin - Fatal Fist
Charlotte - Sage
Riesz - Starlancer
When Riesz buffs Kevin at night, it completely wrecks bosses, even before class 3.
Edelfrei is thankfully so OP in most cases he can even replace Kevin (try Offensive Stance + Concentrate + Flourish... you'll see). ;-)
Its angela duran charlotte
Angela clear up the mob, duran tank with provoke, charlotte can heal or do backups. Its by default the real beginner team composition
I want start with Duran and Angela since I wanted to see they're shared cutscenes. But I don't know who should be the third member of the group. Any suggestions?
Sorry to keep you waiting for 3 years. Go with Hawkeye. Have fun boss
Let me ask this Hawkeye also is or has a higher chance of finding rare items and seeds now granted if I had him as a 2nd or 3rd party member would that still apply.
100% would apply! He's the only character that procs more rare drops, but you'll need to equip the skill!
@@JRPG-Mickey Appreciate it Mick just got this for my switch a week ago loving it currently level 38 but will start a few new party combo's
@@brandonlewis3379 VERY Fun game. Especially when ya just want to kick back and zone out.
Way back in the day I used to go with
Duelist
Wanderer/Nomad
Magus
But in the remake it's basically Angela erasing bosses with ancient curse while the other two just screw around.
The wanderer used to be such an OP class in seikendensetsu, but in trials of mana the nomad is a bit underwhelming.
Awesome video! Very informative
I need to say that going a party of Star Lancer, Nomad and Warrior Monk is surprisingly good. I know you should go Ninja Master on Hawkeye in this situation but having Nomads buffs and counters is just really good. And they don't double up. I dunno it just made sense to me.
This is the build I'm going for in my current playtrough.
Having high expectations for it.
@@Nuinwing remember to use shape change on those real nasty monsters it lets you split groups of monsters
Edelfrei, Starlancer, and Necromancer works wonders on bosses
I felt like I walked into an old arcade hearing marvel vs cap on 2 all over again
Man...that game. Classic.
I went Angela (dps) , Duran (tank) , Charlotte (heals) in the demo but not sure where to go T2/3.
i was thinking of kevin(dark dark) duran(for sabers, forgot whichof the dark) and reisz(starlancer) (buffs) as myteam. sicne i read healign tiems are so common and reisz stillg ets a buff on using themto make them storgner. duran helps with all ele, mental with sabers and kevin is well kevin)
Set video playback speed to 1.25 and you are golden
The only problem i see with tring to plan out a team...is actually getting a ??? Seed that gives you the class you want. That whole random aspect of getting your 3rd class is pretty wack. I was forced into paladin because wasnt getting the other class for duran. What makes it worse, was that i go two of the paladin class items........
Good video. Very informative. Ty.
i use always 3 girls...
I'm getting the game soon, and would really like a team with Angela and Riesz. Can anyone recommend a third member for a party to compliment them?
Duran will act as a GREAT tank!
@@JRPG-Mickey Thanks! I was thinking that might be a good option.
Party comp doesn't matter as long as u got at least 1 caster for either dps or cc.
The game is fun and fair even on hardest difficulty.
U could beat the game with a pure melee group no support skills. Just stock up on items.
I CANNOT STAND Charlotte’s damn baby-talk. She will NEVER be in my party.
Change language to Japanese. They put alot more effort into the voices then the english voice actors who... for some reason didn't even sound like they were into it. Charlotte, Angela, and Lumina all sound infinitely better in Japanese. As well as most other voices....
Charlie can carry man.
I beat the game and the black rabite with
Charlie(High Cleric Priestess), Hawkeye(Ninjamaster Vigilante) and Lise(Star Lancer Meteorite)
@@tarcisiodutra1 Have you listen to both eng and jp voice yet?
imo hawk belongs on evey rteam he is so vesitle and his luck is fantastic, plus now hat crits arn't bugged he can crit faily often and all his jobs can be usefull on any team, but maybe i just like him and like ninjas, so maybe thats my bias coming through
My first team is Duran, Angela and Hawkeye
Strong team! Angela is a BEAST!
@@JRPG-Mickey I know, she's the best
@@JRPG-Mickey I just bought the game yesterday so this is my first time playing it and it's really fun
FF8, draw from your enemy 99 magic and run away from battle. GG
With Light Light Duran ( paladin ) you get a sword Holy Buff
Sleepy voice head Azz. Good video 😂🔥
Angela is kind of indispensable. At least if you want an easy Magic damage
i went dark reisz, light charlotte, dark duran
The 3 he recommended for new players are the 3 I didn't use lol
Who's here after Gamepass announcement?
Here's a shorter answer - anything with Angela in it
Ok but what is the worst team build?
I don't think there is a worst one. The genius of this game is I think anything works really. Some things are slightly more optimal then others but otherwise I think you can basically do anything in this game and it has merit. For example my favourite party is Nomad, Star Lancer and Warrior Monk.
Charlotte as main for sure lol
Kevin is pretty OP
I love Angela but she make the game easy, her magic is too destructive...I play Duran (Berserker), Reiz (Metiorite) and Angela (Speelbinder)
Just play the video at 1.25x. Thank me later.
Definitely. Was still finding my voice here. I'm slow
This guy clearly never played with Warlock Charlie
Duran. Kevin. Riesz. Everyone dead
