AMAZING puff pastry pizza that's ridiculously easy to make!

- Who doesn't love a good pizza right? Well me, actually. I have to be really in the mood for pizza, and invariably I find most shop bought and takeaway pizzas disappointing. That being said, i had some puff pastry leftover from the pot pies video and so i figured i'd rustle up this, A puff pastry pizza! OK so i'm not breaking new ground with this, it's been done a 1000 times before, but it's a very easy way to get a pizza (ish) in a hurry without making dough from scratch (although that is way better obviously). For my amazing puff pastry pizza, I added red pepper, chorizo and mozzarella on top of a simple homemade pizza sauce (which any leftovers make a great pasta sauce).
You can add whatever toppings you like to your puff pastry pizza of course. I'm just kinda giving you some guidance. make sure to dock the puff pastry before you add the toppings, because the last thing you want is for pastry to puff up too much and explode pizzaness all inside your oven!
To make my amazing puff pastry pizza you will need:
For the pizza sauce:
►1 x 450g can of chopped tomatoes
►1 small onion diced
►2 garlic cloves chopped
►About a dozen fresh basil leaves
►About 1 tbsp of olive oil
►Salt & pepper
For the pizza:.
►1 x 250g sheet of ready made puff pastry
►1 ball of fresh mozzarella
►Chorizo slices (or whatever meat you like)
►Sliced red pepper
►Olive oil to drizzle

Being totally immature ....FIRST!!!
And now you'll forever be first. I've pinned your comment 😂
@@Adam_Garratt Got to say that looked a tasty pizza-ish pizza. Never would of thought to use puff pastry instead of Dough. Thanks for the content and idea Adam :)
There's been a veritable DELUGE of Adam videos recently - and I'm luvvin it!
Thank you my friend. I'll kem em coming 😉
I found your channel searching for a chilli recipe. I’ve been binge watching since Saturday as and when I can. Absolutely brilliant recipes and fab commentary, such a big personality. You remind me of Jamie Oliver. Really enjoying it 😁
What a lovely thing to say! Thank you so much!
Me too Sarah. I have watched most of the videos
You are right Summer is a rough season specially if you live in a hot flat
Like an oven in here. I think I'm starting to proof like bread dough it's that warm!
That pizza looks so amazing. Great job!!
Thats definitely on my to do list. Cheers brother
Give it a whirl and slide it down yer gizzard 😉😂
I live in Montana and I'm very excited for summer. Garden time🥰
Made this last week and it's a winner.
Man you are constant with your self :)
Love it !
Now! I have to convince my family, mostly my wife :p, "We are having pizza for super!"
Keep on posting.
Jacques from Québec
Thank you Jacques! I appreciate your support buddy
I always get excited to click your videos 😆
I love when you complain about summer 😂🤣😂🤣 I dislike the heat too
Haha thank you Shana! X
I make something similar to this all the time. It's delicious
Simple and tasty. Much like me 😂😉
This heatwave really has been crazy. Even at night its been like an oven. The best pizza though is the Portabello Pizza ie portabello mushroom used as the based instead of dough. Fantastically healthy, tastes amazing, fills you up but doesn't leave you bloated, low GI etc. Win, win all round!!
Sounds great! Unfortunately I don't like mushrooms 😂🤮
You can also take eggplant or zucchini slices (pre-fried or not).
Another vote for portabello pizza. They are fantastic and so much healthier!
Man, I love winter, I really really do. Pizza looked delicious 👌🏻
Best season hands down. Cheers Steve mate
That looked delicious. Cheers
You're welcome and thanks for watching
Looks so delicious Adam. I would never have thought about making a pizza with puff pastry. Just usually make pies or sausage rolls. Will have to give this a try for sure.
Cheers Graham!
I'm 100% going to try this . Cheers adam .
Hopefully when I do it though it will be without the chaos and fire alarms 😂👍🏻
I'm rooting for you Brad. No alarms for Brad! Unless there's an actual for obviously 😂
Just wrote the recipe down and plan on making it for dinner this Wednesday. Looks sooo good.
Enjoy, Nancy x
Nice one m8 looks proper nice. This heat is driving me up the wall🔥
Linda, it's too much right? I walked out of work today from a nice air conditioned shop and breathed in. I thought I was inhaling sun farts!
@@Adam_Garratt 😂😂😂 sun farts!!
Man I enjoy these videos, fun and educational.... and the decent into madness continues 🤪
Was way too hot today, we're just not used to 30° temp, it's not normal it's the uk!!! Give us the rain.
Folks seem to like my cooking mixed with chaos and humour 😂
Poor Adam! I'm so sorry you are hot! I hope it cools down soon. Wonderful idea for a pizza crust! I am definitely going to try it this weekend! Thanks for sharing it with us! Please stay cool and hydrated!💖
Thank you Lisa! ❤️
I was a bit sceptical but that looked delish, Adam. Personally, I'd go half mozzarella, half a mild blue cheese but top marks, mate!
Blue cheese would be nice! Love stilton. We have some quality stilton in Leicester.
Awesome idea mate , i will have to try this out myself lol as i'm pretty lazy it seems easier to roll out some pastry rather than make a pizza dough great video mate :)
Thanks bud. Yep pizza in a pinch 😂😉
Couldn't agree more, Adam. Cooking in the heat is awful because on the one hand you're trying to make something delicious, and on the other hand you're not hungry once you're done because you've just overheated yourself.
I get nosebleeds when it gets super hot like this as well. So I'm expecting one of those to come soon! I wish I had a swimming pool as well. I could relax in a nice cool pool sipping cocktails 😎😂
Thanks for the video Adam. The pastry looks really delicious. I will try that with my kids. They love to make their own pizza's and choose their own toppings. Ham and salami are the favourites! 😁
I totally agree about the heath wave. Can't breathe, can't eat, can't sleep. I hate it. 😑
Great for kids! Gets them learning about cooking. And yes way too hot!
Good vid Adam,look good that👍
Thank you David mate
This looks delicious!! Wish I wasn't lactose intolerant, I'd love to try it. I did try the chicken pot pie and that was lovely
Oh that sucks for you hun! I don't know what I'd do not being able to eat my own bodyweight in cheese! Hope you're well otherwise Muthoni x
@@Adam_Garratt I'm doing great thanks, you? Hope the heatwave in the UK clears soon
I'm OK thank you Muthoni. 🙂
I think this is great - everyone needs a quick meal idea. I usually make a quick pizza dough but that does take some advance planning. I think I can only buy frozen puff pastry and not in large sheets as far as I know but will have to check around.
Frozen would also work thawed. It's cracking quick pizza, thanks for watching 😊🍕
i have made this.it's a nice twist on pizza dough, mine was too puffy haha Winter and only winter, tired of being sticky too lol
Summer is meh. Over rated 😂
Your pizza looks good.
You should move to Arizona, you would love the weather there 🤣
Oh hell no 😂. I'd spontaneously combust out there!
Watching on catchup... this looks fantastic! Can I place this on a pizza stone ? Thanks as always!
Thanks Gaile. I'd avoid putting this on a pizza stone as they get really hot, and puff pastry will burn easier than pizza dough. 😉
Great looking pizza adam
Cheers Dave!
Love Barry White, and my stick blender doesn't do that on Low, lol. Hey thanks for the recipe this weekend. Trying one with precooked puff pastry 10 min then rub on Olive oil then the toppings, and one just as you have made it.
I will try mine after it cools. Thanks for the inspiration.
Youre welcome Tina! x
I totally agree cancel summer..winter better cosy up with my dog and cat and some great homemade food.so I'm cooking Yr oxtail this week ohhh hope it comes out as good as yours
Lots of love tarnya xxx
You're too cool cook ❄️🌨️🥶
Go winter!
I can't wait for winter. Thank you Ruby x
Lots of things to do with Puff that is delicious! Look up some NORDIC WARE 1/2 sheet baking trays. I love my Half and Quarter size sheet trays...so versatile and well made.
Thank you Carl. I'll have a look! 🙂
If your tomato is a bit on the acidic side, add 1/2 tsp baking soda to cut it down. I always add 1 or 2 anchovy fillets to enhance the flavour. Once it's blended you won't taste the anchovy but it will lift the flavour.
Anchovy sounds epic! I add them to roast leg of lamb sometimes. Love anchovies
Never had puff pastry pizza before, your pizza looks very nice Adam, yeah tell that neighbour of yours to watch your channel, and learn how to cook :-)
It's good Joe. It's more like a tart than a pizza, but it does the job if you don't have pizza dough. Hope you're well mate
Been making pizzas like this for years. I'll try your sauce though as I usually just use tomato puree 😁
Enjoy, Chantel! 🙂
You can buy ready made pizza dough.. either Lidl or Aldi.😊
Hi Adam omg it’s too hot isn’t it so
I’m sat in the garden watching you cook hun 👍👍 yes it’s dark and wet but hey I don’t care 😆
Awww thank you Beryl. Keep cool! I think it's meant to be better today (Thursday)
Adam, if I may have a friendly word, you often seem like a friendly and upbeat kinda guy and the negativity seems uncharacteristic. The puff pastry sure is better than any pre-made crusts you can get--nice idea!
😂. I'm a bit of everything John. I let all facets of my moods show in my videos. 😉
Thanks for the video, good job with this one! I like the 'sit by the bed while we wait for it to cook -chats'
Thank you. Glad you enjoy it 😉
Rinse out that tomato can with a little white wine and add to the tomato sauce. This adds a layer of flavor. Simmer till the alcohol aroma/burn is gone.
Great pizza alternative Adam 👍 Have you tried flammekuche? A puff pastry 'pizza' with creme fraiche and ham. Give it a go!
Cheers Gary. I've taken note, I've yet to try that but sounds delicious
Good idea,I’ve never thought to use ready made puff pastry ,as for the left over pizza sauce ,put it in a freezer bag and lie flat put 2 dents with the side of your hand to make this bits thinner then freeze 3 more pizza sauce break off as needed ...Thanks for your show I shall be making that looks easy Peasy.....
Thank you Kathleen. And for the awesome freezer tip!
Another fantastic recipe mate. I'll have to wait until autumn before turning my oven on if this heat persists. It's "hotter than Satan's bum crack" (now where did I pick that expression up🤔) down here in the New Forest. Keep cool mate. Trev 😊
Haha! I may stick that slogan on a t shirt 😂. Thank you mate, appreciate ya
@@Adam_Garratt Put me down for one if you get them 👍🏻👍🏻
@@spitspotmichael I will do mate haha
Washington DC here. Did you know it was a swamp before the US government decided to build a city on top of it? I'm with you, summer is the worst. 27 out of 31 days in July got over 32 centigrade. I'll take below freezing winters instead.
I'm with you there Chris. 32 for nearly all of July sounds crazy!
Oh lord I am a cheap skate, I’ve been using tomato purée and bought base ....Just look at that , any Italian would drool over that ..Well I suppose I’d better up my game now I’ve learned how ..It really does look delicious, what have I been missing.
Pizza sauce is super easy to make. The secret is good canned tomatoes. Get San marzano if you can 😉
Good on yer Adam. I love a good winge. Pizza good too. Also love that you hate the skins, they annoy me too. Aussie Bob
😂😂 Cheers Robert
Great Entertainment! Great Vid! :)
Cheers Bobby 😉
What do you think Adam, pineapple on a pizza?! I love it, but not sure if I’d have it on a pastry base 🤷🏼♀️
I'm not a huge lover of pineapple anyway. On pizza it's even worse 😂
Hell who needs a pizza stone... Much prefer your version, so much easier and I reckon better for you... Nice one Ads and BTW, we use the same brand kitchen roll...lol Thank you so much as always, and my mum took her cat to the vet for a shave and they went a bit mad... Only thing they left unshaved was his head and tail..lol
Haha omg I bet the poor kitty looked hilarious! Must have felt better though. Cheers Chris!
Your pizza looked really good, a new spin on an old idea. Did not think the fresh mozzarella would on a pizza, cause it never seems to melt correctly, but you did good
Thanks mate! Hope you're well
Adam Garratt yeah I’m good, how are you Adam?
All good here matey
I feel you, if it is this hot there simply is no hunger... all there is, is drinking and drinking (water of course!) followed by sweating and even more sweating.
I rather have Winter and be cold (and put the heater on to regulate the heat myself) than sitting here at 35°c sweating out every drop of water I drink...
I would love to try that pastry pizza... but I just don't have the energy to make it nor the hunger to eat it... and I absolutely LOVE everything pizza :(
I feel you mate. Its not fun is it😂. Hotter than Satan's bum crack as I say!
Hahahaha ; yes he needs to watch your videos 😘😘🙋!!!!
He does! 😂😘
Summer is for nudists Adam !!! I love peppers on pizza I'm a big fan of supreme minus olives and i like you thought outside the box on the crust. xxx
Exactly Aunty Brenda! Summer is not enjoyable 😂. Hope you're keeping safe and well
@@Adam_Garratt Hot summers are best if there is cold beverages and a pool to swim in,
@@brendarigdonsbrensden.8350 100% Brenda
Well done mate. I usually add the garlic to the pot before adding the onion dices. Onions contain a lot of water which keeps the garlic from burning. It's working better for me this way.
What temperatures are you complaining about?
Cheers from Perth / WA - in summer it's hot, or bloody hot or bloody fucking hot.
Well... Its currently about 35c which is high for us brits. Also very humid so it's sticky and muggy 😰🥴
@@Adam_Garratt 35C and muggy is pretty cold for us Aussies ... my European Visitors usually start to have problems above 44C. The highest temperature I experienced in my backyard was 53C on 01/01/2013. The tomatoes were melting.
Cheers
53c! Jesus holy honey covered christ! 😂😱
@@Adam_Garratt Yep, that's what we are calling bloody, fucking hot. You're walking out of your front door and hey, you're hitting a wall. That's what it feels like.
Cheers
Why do a lot of people take the casing off the chorizo ?
Sometimes depending on the brand, the casing can be a bit tough and unpleasant
Its too bloody hot - but food looks great as always
Thank you Alex 🙂👍
I'd smash that! And, you can never have too much cheese😎.
In most circumstances I would agree. Cheese is life! 😂🧀
A type of pissaladiere, possibly.
Yes, that! Thanks for watching my friend
The video is starting form 2:15 min. ;)
Hmmm? 2 things. Firstly, if you don't eat 4 portions I tend to worry about your health. Secondly, check the definition of dough. You may find this pizza thingy to actually be a pizza!
4 portions in such heat, I'd melt 😂
Looks extra yummy, Adam. 😋
It reminds me of some similar dishes from Provence in the South of France, near the Italian border, where there is a lot of shared French and Italian influence in food.
I actually made this one and it turned out quite well, except that it was bit soggy because of all the liquid from the tomatoes: ruclips.net/video/VdbJqMd0CX0/видео.html
It's from a Melbourne, Australia based RUclipsr who is of French and Vietnamese extraction.
In the South of France, they make a lot of pizza-like dishes, sometimes using pizza dough, and sometimes using puff pastry.
I notice that another commenter has suggested that your pizza is similar to a *_Pissaladière,_* but that is usually made with pizza dough, not puff pastry, and it would taste totally different: ruclips.net/video/5vzda3N36Fk/видео.html
There is another one called *_Tarte Flambée,_* which can use either puff pastry of pizza dough. but this dish is not from Provence, but from Alsace, near the German border: ruclips.net/video/SJuoTgBRMzI/видео.html
I hope you might find these videos interesting. IMHO, the difference between these dishes and standard Italian-style pizzas is well worth exploring. 🙂
Awesome thank you Chris ill look them up. Just a request from me though, please don't put links in your comments. RUclips does not like them and puts them under review. If you want to send me links, you can email them or drop me a Facebook message. Cheers buddy 🙂👍
@@Adam_Garratt Oh, I'm sorry about the links, mate. I didn't know that: I thought links to other RUclips videos would be OK... 😕
So, next time, I'll message you on Facebook instead. 🙂 👍🏻
No worries Chris. It's yt not me. Thanks mate 🙂👍
Move to America and you can have air conditioning in your home..lol
I get terrible heart burn from tomato sauce, but I have found that adding about a tea spoon of sugar to it makes the heart burn go away. Doesn't affect the flavor either, in my opinion. And I will never NOT eat pizza. NEVER!
A pinch of sugar takes the acidity level down. Also using good quality canned tomatoes helps. Hope you're well buddy
@@Adam_Garratt Doing good up here, my profession keeps me well away from people most of the time :) Be safe.
Two words - air conditioning
We don't have air con as standard here in the UK. It's just not a thing. I could buy one I suppose. Expensive though 😂
You are a grumpy gills aren’t you?
I'm actually a sweetheart haha. Just sometimes I go off on little rants 😂
Adam Garratt I’ve noticed lol xx
