Of course it is just a simulation but since it does very accurately simulate the Universe, that statistic could be very realistic. Of course finding life like us may be very rare, maybe even non-existent within a 1000 light years. Even in the entire galaxy, we may only find a very small amount of intelligent beings like us if any.

This is probably an accurate statistic for _habitable_ planets, although nobody really knows how common life itself is. Life could be extremely common, being in most stellar systems with a habitable planet, somewhat common, with maybe half of habitable planets hosting life, uncommon with maybe 10% of habitable planets hosting life, rare with 1% of habitable planets hosting life, extremely rare with maybe 0.000001% or a few habitable planets per galaxy hosting life or life could end up being 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% impossible and we are freak accidents. There is no way to know which one is more likely as we do not know the process of chemicals becoming a life form very well at all. I'd estimate life to be at least uncommon (10% of habitable planets hosting life) considering how many apparently habitable planets we have found but it's only an estimation or educated guess at best.

The closest inorganic life to us could actually be in our own solar system. It has been hypothesized that it could be possible that Titan hosts a type of life form that inhales hydrogen, metabolizes it with acetylene and exhales methane. Although there is no direct evidence that this life exists on Titan, a lot of prebiotic compounds and compounds thought to play an important role in the formation of life have been detected there, so it is one of the most likely candidates for life on other worlds. The most likely currently is Europa, which could host life in it's suspected liquid water mantle. Since liquid water is there it would be organic and similar to marine unicellular life on Earth. We don't know what is under the ice sheet of Europa yet, so it's unknown whether the compounds necessary for life to form exist there. The liquid mantle has a chance of not even existing, although we are pretty sure it's there. Any life that is there will most likely be unicellular, the same goes for Titan. Other moons that are thought to have liquid mantles are also suspected to be capable of supporting life, so they are all candidates. Whether any do though is another matter altogether.

It is literally the accepted theory: Observable Universe vs. (larger) Unobservable Universe.
Its estimated now (2022) that based on CMB, redshifting observed, etc: that the universe is something like 13.x billion years old and at LEAST 90billion light years wide.
IF the universe were exceptionally finite (with some sort of 'hard' border between reality/nothingness) then it means on the end the amount of stuff in unobservable universe is at min a 100-300 times the mass of the observable. It would just grow scalar amount based on how much wider it might be.
*This also posits that the current Big Bang Model (1 Big Bang = source of everything) is correct: and some more 'grand' scenario didn't occur: where another Big-Bang Singularity (possibly infinite) happened beyond reach of current CMBR: 46bil ly. If that is the case, it is likely unknowable; just like the ultimate size of the universe.

    Fantastic video - loved it!
I do have a question: I have Space Engine as well, got it this year (2019), so naturally I wanted to find all these same locations. NONE of them are in my version of the game. I could not even find the HIP catalog stars that you did. I did find the brown dwarf (L V) but 7 planets instead of the 8 that you saw. Can you still find these objects in your game?

Do you use the free or paid version?

    • @WildStar2002
      @WildStar2002 4 года назад

@@Rossilaz58 It's the paid version. There are two paid versions - the higher cost one is meant for those who want to use images/video/etc commercially - I don't need that.
So, Anton's very first example planet is circling the star HIP 17822. When I type that into the "Find Object" box there is nothing by that name. I looked up the star to see if there were any alternate names: it is also known as HD232841 and BD+53 702. Neither of those names show up either. This star is simply NOT in my Space Engine database!
There are two possibilities that occur to me: 1) the game has been changed since Anton uploaded this video and this star is no longer in the database or 2) this DB is incomplete for the lower cost pay version. I haven't been able to get any answers about this on the Steam community either. The one object that I *did* find had different procedurally generated planets than what I saw in my own game. That makes me suspect that the algorithms have been updated and so it does not show the same results anymore.

Hey, I just have a question, since you're a space guy. What do you think about the possibility of moving an entire planet? Here's an example:
Far in the future, the Sun is starting to destroy the solar system, so humans build a GIANT engine to take Earth on an interstellar journey to find another star.
I just think it'd be an interesting concept for a video.

Why is your Space Engine so more beautiful than mine? Even with my graphical settings on the maximum possible, your videos always look way more beautiful than my game. Also, why is your UI different? Are you using a newer version that hasn't been out yet? Isn't the 0.980 the latest version? If you answer me, thanks!

what version of space engine do you have by any chance? i have the 0.9.80 version but i don't really think its as similar as yours. For example the asteroid Ceres looks a little more like a cartoon dwarf planet while in one of your videos i saw your version of Ceres looked more cleaner and realistic. Is there any addons im missing or do you have a completly different version of space engine that i don't know of?

This may sound like a stupid question that someone has probably answered before but, do you know if it would be possible for a planet like the planet Reach from Halo to exist?

    • @titan-1802

Reach its self only has some inaccuracies in it
Firstly, the Habitable Zone of Epsilon Eridani goes from 0.5 to 1.0 Astronomical Units, and calculating Reach's Orbital Period of 390 Days, it is shown to have an Semi-Major Axis of 1.06 AU, which is beyond the Habitable Zone, not only that, Reach is the Second Planet, and some of the other Colonized Worlds are also in the Cold Zone too
and Second: while Reach has one Captured Moon, Turul, the Major Moon however, Csodaszarvas, has a lot of things wrong about it, a Thick Atmosphere can not exist in the habitable zone, it needs to exceedingly Cold and being beyond the habitable zone, unless if it has a Mass significant that of Reach, its still too warm to have any amount of an atmosphere, and even in some shots of Reach from Orbit and seeing Turul and Csodaszarvas in distance, Csodaszarvas is shown to have its Poles tilted towards to Reach, this is a very unlikely scenario, as after the collision that formed the Moon, the Angular Momentum should aline the rotational Poles, perpendicular to its Orbit, and the rotation should have already Synchronized with its Orbital period by tidal interactions. and finally.. the Ring System, a Ring System around Terrestrial Planets are possible, but not around Moons, as the Rings wouldn't be stable or be eroded in the Habitable zone by the Stellar winds.
ok.. that really took out a lot of me, but yes, Reach can somewhat be possible, but a Moon like Csodaszarvas wouldn't unfortunately be possible, that said, thats all i need to say.
