For a savestate hack, this one is really cool. Lots of crazy solutions, I like the mushroom bump powerup jump to clear the gap.
The kaizo 1-up at 8:56 is actually genius. Because it's a hidden 1-up like the ones in 2-1 in SMB, it only shows up the first time you run through that section. So it tricks you into being cautious about a hazard that doesn't exist anymore.
I think they're just regular coin blocks actually. Like the ones that appeared in 5-3

Also in 2-1 Lives only appear if you gameover OR got all the coins from level 1-3.

for those wondering about the root(5) it works to approximately ~2.236068
(joke being that it's just above SMB 2)
Depending on how math-nerdy the creator wanted to take the joke, Root(5) is an irrational number;
Perhaps as an added joke, this notes how irrational the game is with all of the glitchy jumps, teleports, and reverse entry into the pipes that’s required to beat each level.
"Hopefully I don't run out of time from trying to get 8k kick" summarizes 98% of Kosmic's vids.

I am very impressed with this rom hack. The amount of the effort the creator put into this is amazing. Without knowing how SMB1 works inside and out, it would look like an unplayable rom hack. I look forward to seeing how you complete the rest of the rom hack, Kosmic. Well done!
The aesthetic choices of this hack is decidedly "Bootleg Mario cartridge found in a foreign flea market". The transplanted sprites, strange palette combinations, and buzzier theme music (presumably lower duty cycles on the pulse waves) give it that "off-brand" feel. 😏
I usually do not watch many Mario romhack vids, but this video was really entertaining to see you discover solutions and explain things at a high level without getting into the nitty gritty. It was a nice balance that got me to watch the full thing and kinda makes me want to learn cool tricks like these for fun. Great video!
It was incredibly interesting watching the skill you have tested in these new ways. Watching you speedrun is always cool but it doesn’t quite show your skill and game knowledge as much as this does
Watching you reverse engineer a Mario hack to figure out how to beat it is freaking amazing to watch in action.
I decided to challenge myself by playing this rom, and boy it is challenging, but also really rewarding. That wall clip at 23:33 is hands-down the most difficult thing I've ever done in a video game, as there are a lot of moving parts. When I finally hit it, that really made me feel good.
It's amazing to see someone know the mechanics of a game so well. The years of dedication really show

So this hack is like, exactly up your alley. Idk why it seemed like you didn't like it all that much. You're always wall jumping and clipping, it was very nice to see a hack where that was required.
If someone were to make a hack specifically for you, I'd have assumed it would be exactly like this.
Hmm, not sure. I don't think I was super negative? Maybe with it cut up you just mostly get the parts where I'm thinking/failing. But I think you could tell I was really excited by most of the solutions. A couple are eh but most were awesome and brand new to me

There can be a ton of different reasons for jump cuts. Why edit parts of the game- the video would be 2 hours long and you wouldn't be watching it. Or if you actually would be, then I have a channel for that :) in the description
