Probably my favorite types of videos are watching runs like world 9 in this. Not like gotcha type kaizo games, but just the precision and expert type levels
This is a really impressive ROMhack for SMB1. I like the Metal Storm style parallax-ish effect they use in the indoor scenes. Taking a tiny peek under the hood it seems it handles a great deal of things in the game completely differently than the base game, and the size of it is much larger to match its scope.
Man, I have such fond memories of the visuals in Metal Storm, so it's extra neat getting to see something similar to what that game did for those subtle indoor parallax effects (along with the immersion tunnels for the platforms it really gave them a different feel to normal).
I still come back to watch all these old Romhack Wednesdays. I hope to see it back regular again someday but I'm happy so many were made.

Bowser's hammer's thrown to the right don't hurt Mario, this is in the vanilla game as well.
In the video where you were momentarily swimming out of the lava, it looked like the falling platform clipped you through the death barrier.
3:48 huh that's interesting. reminds me of how, in super mario world, the top metatile of lava acts like water, but that doesn't seem to be the case here since it seems to work as expected most of the time. maybe it's only the bottom half of the top lava metatile that kills you, since the nes techically works in 8x8 tiles, but idk if smb would be particularly receptive to something like that, since all its vanilla metatiles have 16x colision.
this probably means absolutely nothing. idk what i'm talking about lol

man this hack is seriously crazy. i dunno how this sorta thing goes in the smb1 hack community but i kinda hope this hack can be used as sort of a 'base" for future hacks because some of the changes or new mechanics or even just how levels are able to be laid out is insane. i feel like so much could be done using what this hack has and they already did so much

There's nothing Mario Maker about a regular ass romhack. lmao
The last levels are very similar to Mario Maker Kaizo levels, where you do shelljumps, jump off of p-switches, and throw shells up at on/off blocks

I played the kaizo levels, and they killed my thumbs, I also had to learn how to shell jump
18:48 How does Mario run right through that block? When Mario touches the ground, he's in front of the castle door (actually he's a couple pixels to the left of that), and there should be a solid block right in front of him, the one used to end the flag cutscene. But he runs straight through it. Does this hack do the cutscene differently?

I've always thought it had a vaguely 'Kingdom Hearts 2' feel to the bit you have on the actual outro, but this is the first time I've checked the description to see if the music was named or linked.

A music to use as and ending with Bowser/King Kooper in SMB 1 or 2 hack is Super Mario Land that would be great. But that is just my opinion.

why does bowser in 8-4 do 2 damage to you!? :O you dropped from fire mario to small mario, when in the rest of the hack you went from fire to big to small.

Why give world 9 Bowser 99 health when the level is designed with small tunnels that you can’t use big Mario?
You could make it through as big Mario. There's just no way to get fire in world 9

Curious what music you used, and also annoyed that the Kaizo level didn’t have any of the unfair traps you almost have to die to to spot that the original Kaizo had. It seems to have come to just mean “hard”, not things like “the level has a trap that will kill you after clearing a level and you have to use precision gameplay to defuse beforehand.”
did he stop these?
Kinda, I don’t know if this was the last one, but he just did a new one this past Wednesday and said he wasn’t sure if he was bringing him back or not
