lol. I was just randomly looking into flexiDOCK products and it turns out I'm using the exact same case. A side worry was how well they might work with the quick latches. So this kind of answer the question I had with that too. Thanks. :)

I have been using ICY DOCK including the older version of this product for 5+ years. My case is Corsair 400r and 500r. I have several in storage because IMHO it is one of the best cases that was created. 34+ year building rigs. Managed and then owned a computer repair store. Technology reporter during the golden age of computer tech industry. I know my tech very well. And you are right I am all about function than the bling bling.

      Hi di. mythios,
Welcome! Nice Cases! You remember Comdex and PC Expo! We miss those! Been there, done that! Function is about Performance! All that other stuff is smoke and mirrors! Thanks for sharing!

I have a sata extension adapter in a pci x1 slot that takes 4 sata devices since the motherboard has only 6 ports. I use it for my internal backup hhd and DVD drives.
In my old configuration I put it in a x4 slot but noticed that a sata hhd will only get just so much speed anyway so I swapped it to the x1 slot.
I'm gonna use the freed slot for my m.2 adapter assuming sata ports don't get deactivated.
Why do many drives...they aren't failing on time and I'm too lazy to take them out after years of use.

      Hi Mike Quinton,
That's an interesting layout. Do You know the Add in card Chipset? How's Your Bandwidth? Each SATA Port should be 1 PCIe Lane. SATA Ports use depends upon how Your Motherboard allocates PCIe Resources. Some do Share. Some do not. In that Configuration, We'd have to know Your Motherboard to Research that layout. On the Add in card, You're definitely Sharing PCIe Lanes. Therefor, You have Connectivity but not the Bandwidth each SATA would have if on the Motherboard or from a PCIe X4 Add in Card. Have You Tested for grins out of curiosity? If it ain't broke, don't fix it! We can relate!

@@BuildOrBuy One thing I did learn is to make sure to use the screws provided to secure the SSD's inside their little trays. Anytime I turned my machine on its side to replace something or clean it risked the drive slipping off, and still operating, but when I want to open the door it won't open as it's jammed. I had to take the entire enclosure out so I could move it every-which-way and jostle and shake and nudge it until they dropped loose and I could remove and then properly secure them. Had it running fine for six months when I went to open a door and it would only open a little bit, like a stuck kitchen drawer. But the drive bay is efficient, and easy to swap drives when needed. It still ran fine even though the drives were a little 'off-track'. And really great for making backups to keep offsite. LOL, I even hooked a BeQuiet RGB fan underneath the bay directing air from the intake fans up underneath and into the SSD enclosure. It works really well. And yes, I like RGB even in a workstation. I like my computer to look like art like the art it makes.
And one Power port being all that is needed reduced the cabling I had when I had four separate single SSD drive bays.
There's a lot to like about the unit, and many other Icy Dock products.

      Hi@@johndicus123,
This one does not have a door. Yes, those Icy Dock supplied short screws are important for Drive Clearance! We point those features out in this Video! Definitely holds SSDs securely on sides. Fan is a good idea if You have the Space. Icy Dock has so many variations. Just a matter of picking the right one to solve a problem. For Us, Media access! We're focused on Function over Form! I hear You! Cabling is one issue. We just needed a quick, Hot Swap, Hot Plug Media access solution! Thanks for Sharing!

The comment on tie it all down...cable management has it's own cats and dogs. If you have stuff in your rig it's a hassle to tie it all back down. Cable mgt is supposed to help with air flow and in the days of ide or scsi cables this might...might ..matter. for all the stuff I have in my rig, I just want cables outta the way, not worried about the guided tours.

Do you find the sata drive slow down when it has a long download? Great video thank you!

      Hi curtis chamblee,
Welcome! Glad You've brought that up! Doing anything SATA brings any System to its' knees whether Downloading or copying Data over the Network! Everything else has to wait! SATA is very demanding of tying up a System no matter how powerful. Appreciate Your Comments! Thanks for Watching!
