I believe your decision was the best for you and I'll do the same. I feel UK ILR is not worth the money & time wasted waiting for the non guaranteed ILR . Fewer advantages like no longer being under sponsorship & reduced university fees for children, that's all . Otherwise UK is a painful place for single people to live in with the minimum salary it offers , minimum hours of work, high cost of living . Childcare issues, school run and constant threats from some employers over losing one's pin . If there's a better PR offer elsewhere, rather jump for it. UK is for people who are OK with their minimum earnings , who don't mind waiting & waiting for the indefinite time to know if they'll get settled or not. UK is no longer the same as before,it's now too saturated with immigrants and inflation has gone up. Worst of all,the weather . That's just me. I'm entitled to my opinion based on my own experience and perspective

i commend your courage. i am still here in the UK despite having passed NCLEX last year because my ILR is so close. i am afraid of leaving to another country before getting the british passport cause what if i leave the UK only to find out that i don't like the new country and the UK is better. how will i return? i will have to start applying for a work visa again and start counting 5 years all over again. so for me, i would rather stay and make sure i gain something back from all those years of paying tax and claiming no benefits from the UK govt before moving anywhere else. 😂😂
plus having the british passport will open more doors of opportunities in my opinion. Anyway, congratulations 👏

I think, unlike most people, you are very true to yourself and are a positive risk taker. You are very sure of what you want, and you went for it regardless. You have thought of all the possibilities there could be to your decision and have come to terms with it. That is very applaudable. Well done!
I have quite a similar plan, but the twist to mine is that I am waiting for my ILR (only) simply because of my kids and hubby. Australia is my dream, not theirs, and I don’t want to selfishly ruin the UK passport thingy for them.

Im in a very similar situation. Its been 4 years in the UK. My british husband has spent thousands of pounds on our extensions and visas. My son was born before my husband got his ilr so my son and I have to wait before getting the british passport. My daughter however was born after his ilr so she is british. It is costing us around £14000 for ilr and the passport all together. Is it even worth it? Me and my son are canadian and im telling my husband to save that money and just move to canada. In conversion of £14000 we will get double the money in canadian dollars and can save up for downpayment for a house. He is on the fence about this idea since we arent too far from getting the passport. But i think the cost is ridiculous just for a passport when we arent even planning to live in the uk. Do you think its worth it or should we save that money and move to canada. Sponsoring my husband to canada will cost me a penny compared to what we will pay for two british passports..but my husband says down the line we will regret not getting british passport.
