Good looking pigs Lynette. Hopefully you have time to make videos of your smoking process. I haven't had time for putting out a new video. We have a new purchase for our hay production I'll post and our first snow and hard freeze alraedy. Have a great day, and hello to Peter. MB BAR RANCH
Nice looking pigs! I really like seeing pigs being raised on a small scale. The quality is sooo much better! We live a mile down wind of a corporate run 6,200 sow barn and those pigs are treated so inhumanly. The smell is really bad from that barn sometimes and don't see how what they do is even considered a family farm. I hope everything turns out great with the pigs!
Thanks Paul, I could never imagine that many sows( holy cats that is crazy)! Peter's Dad used to keep like 30 sows farrow to finish and that was a ton of work for zero money! Peter always says that if your raising that many hogs, you'll only make a penny profit; the trick is to make a million pennies! I make a little money off the pigs because we sell to the same people every year and fill their freezers with pork! We sell them for $300 each and they pay for butchering!
That is a great question! I guess probably not much difference other than our babies are raised to have pretty much the run of our whole farm until they are about ten weeks old! Our sows also have a really long life! I'm not sure what the pigs in the grocery store eat, but ours dont eat any human food waste, only grain! I will say this, They are tasty lol! Have a great day, Lynette
The pigs are looking great guys! That should bring in a good penny for the farm!
As always very informative , did not realize you could keep a sow that long.
I hope they keep going strong! These girls are like my friends! They have such personality! Have a great day, Lynette and Peter
Just looking at the pigs makes the water run into my mouth 🤤
