    My credit union has vehicle loans at 2.49% APR for new and used vehicles - I just checked their website. I bought a used Silverado at that rate in June from another northern NJ dealer. I was watching all the Chevy dealer websites within 50 miles every day for a month and pounced when I saw one after hours on a Sunday evening. Some dealers update their websites on Sundays. I was at their door when they opened Monday morning to make sure I didn't lose it. Test drove it, put a deposit on it and signed the deal. Had to go to central NJ to get the check from my credit union and accepted delivery of the truck the next morning. If you're patient enough and look hard enough you can find a good deal.

    I enjoy your videos very much. When I make a vehicle purchase, the $20.00 would not be a big issue. What is a big issue is the assorted un-necessary high profit items that the finance manager attempts to stack up on the sale. Such as extended warranties, fabric and wheel protection, anti theft markings, and whatever else they can come up with. It ruins the excitement of the purchase and makes you fee like you are disrespected by the dealership.

    I like these videos that show deals falling through, I hate it for the guy who lost commission but I’d like to think that some people are getting smarter and understanding that they are just letting these dealers put them in holes that will be hard to get out of as thing get easier and the value is lost. I’d like to see more of these. If you have to have a car I get it you have to do what you have to do. But if you just want a new car please don’t do it, being financially smart during these times will afford you a even better car when the banks come calling the dealers for that money and they just need to get what they can. Please wait if you can people Nothing on the market today is worth 10-100k markup.

    I’m old enough to remember when interest rates on auto loans were in the double digits for excellent credit. If you search RUclips for car commercials from the 90’s you will see advertised rates for excellent credit at 7.5% for excellent credit. When my mom got her mortgage in 1980 it was at 17% with excellent credit & when I was born in the early 70’s the Fed rate was around 9% & at 2.5% we still aren’t even close to what it was back in 2006. It has truly been a great vehicle and doesn't owe me anything. However, I'm part of the problem in that I need something in the 6 to 12 months so I'll be part of someone who is buying soon. Prices are stupid and ridiculous but what else do I do? And you think prices will come down by 5-10k just because the market slows? No way. People are accustomed to it and unless a dealer or seller is need to just get rid of something, there is no way even a used vehicle price is going to just bottom out

  • @domj.6949
    @domj.6949 Год назад +1

    Good explanation! but also we want to keep in mind the overall economics as to why this interest rate matters. The data is available showing the skyrocketing car prices for a new car pre 2020 and going into 2020-2022 this growth in price was to fast to keep up with the average salary a consumer can afford because of wages not keeping up with inflation (housing, cost of goods etc…). Now we have a market filled with unethical dealers marking up the prices 5,000-20,000 dollars and telling consumers to “extend the loan” for anyone out there if you need to go beyond 60 months you CANNOT afford the vehicle. Due to these rising payments a new issue is rising and that’s the increase in repossessed vehicles that is starting to flood the market soon. Now we have customers belly up on loans because they overpaid for a vehicle above msrp and when the market corrects will cause these customers to realize what a bad deal really looks like when they try to go trade in these vehicles and realize the vehicle has decreased far more quickly then the above msrp purchase price they financed

    A lease on that Traverse would be lower, right? I’ve been leasing vehicles since the 80’s and prefer to do that. Every 3 or 4 years you get a new vehicle. The last one we leased was a 2020 Jeep Cherokee and we still have about a year and a half on the lease. We may buy this after the lease is up since it only has 5200 miles on it. Both of us are retired and we don’t drive much at all now. But we may decide to get another vehicle, we’ll have to wait and see.

    I think a lot of buyers like me, financially mature, really don't like having to beg a dealer to take our money! We are also not stupid. Congress passes a $7,500 tax credit for Ev's, and Ford raises the price of the EV Lightning price by $7,000 same day! A lot of us will just keep driving what we have until there is enough inventory to select what we want.... because we are "picky".

      The Ford Lightening qualifies for the $7500 tax credit established back in 2010. I think the purpose of this new incentive is to bring Tesla and GM back into it since they already hit their 200,000 sold EV units some time ago. Maybe I'm wrong but everyone is talking about how no cars qualify for the new $7500 yet they still qualify for the original $7500...
