Thank you Bronwyn 😊. I'm going to do an update video this week with the water system and a few other upgrades as well as a few mistakes I have noticed.
The floor space is 60*120 cm per area. Ceiling height is about 57cm. I will add that they all free range in the garden or fenced area about twice per week.
Looks very professional looking, 16 gauge or 14 gauge 1" 1/2" would be a bit more appropriate for the wire side, but you given them free time and having this beautiful design I think shouldn't be an issue.
I completely agree on the wire, the stuff I used is holding up just about. But I have already bought it's replacement as I can see it will need it. Thanks for your comment
@79poisonbreaker you are right about the wire. I'm just in the middle of making an update video. It's working fine but for sure stronger would have been better. As for wire Vs wood , they seem to really like the wire when its hot ( helps to cool down). But hang out on the wood evenings and mornings.
I think that with a few tweaks this could be a great hutch. I'm glad that you already seem to be aware of the potential problems with wood and the gauge of mesh, based on the other comments. It will be interesting to see how the wood wears, my rabbits can do some serious damage to any wood they have access to. It looks like the droppings from the upper hutch will fall into the lower and then hopefully out the bottom of the hutch. I suspect that will cause a mess over time but I am curious to see what it looks like in your update video!
Hi Rahonastream. You are in luck , the update video is already out. So far no wood chewing. I am guessing this is more down to the breed of rabbit than something I have done. So far the only time any of them have chewed wood was when pregnant. I have large plastic buckets underneath to catch all the waste and this has worked really well. I only had one disaster and that was a nipple waterer that broke and filled the waste bucket 😢 They seem pretty happy there spending nights on the wood and hot days sleeping on the mesh
Correct, although as the rabbits tend to rest on the wood side it's not been much of a problem. I am planning to add some kind of barrier and slope so that they drain out the back. Hopefully this summer
It was and still is the plan to upgrade to include some kind of pan. There is not one currently. But it's not been a problem. The adults on the top layer have formed very strong habits of always using the same corners. I only clean the adult areas about every two months as they keep them so clean. The kits are a different story, they are not as organised and need regular cleaning. I am planning a host of new upgrades before winter and will be sure to record it. But back to your question, the poops just fall through and the p runs down the wall in the corner.
They are 1.2m x 0.8m. that's about 4ft x 3ft in freedom units. It's much bigger than the standard size here in Slovakia. What's the standard size where you are ?
these bunnies are given time on the grass , normally twice a week. But they are also not pets, while lots are sold in to the pet market locally, around half end up in the freezer.
Thanks for the heads up. It's something I have considered. So far it's staying very clean but I will watch closely and will release an update in a month or so. I have in the back of my mind a plan to switch to all mesh should it become a problem
@@deervalleyhomestead well for me the first problem is the law, in my country we are not allowed to breed rabbits in such small cages. They set a certain amount of space u need for each rabbit. And since European rabbits love to live in colonies, it needs to be big. Funny thing if u keep rabbit as pet u can keep it in a hamster cage if u would want to. Laws only seem to apply when u wanna save money on food. But that doesn’t change the fact its a nice build. Just not the best, since it’s not functional everywhere.
@@harshtruth632 where are you from ? I'm debating trying a colony setup just out of curiosity. It's 1.2*0.8m per cage, they do all get time on grass as well.
@@deervalleyhomestead Belgium, i think u would need the size of 2 cage per female. And size of 3 cages for each buck here. Most people i know who raise them here, do it in old sheds (made of bricks) and they build a huge cage on the outside of it. Unfortunately I don’t live in one of those old houses that had those.
I think you might have made a mistake. The music is from endemic sound. And is licenced to me for RUclips. If I am incorrect I will be happy to remove it
Beautiful cage!❤
Thank you! 😊
They love it, I have never watch a video this long on any DIY rabbit hutch this is awesome.
Wow, thank you!
Im going to use the dolly idea, (when you moved it) that looks handy. 😊
It was a little tippy but it worked. Sometimes you just have to find a way
Thanks for sharing. 😘
I love it, thank you for sharing
Like it, solid job‼️🐇🐰 Vinny 🇺🇸
Thank you
Love the hutch you built
Thank you
I like it very good . The slide out is a great idea.

Thank you for your initiative.
What are the measures of each room for that cage?

19 gage is pretty thin I think. I use 14 gage wire for them to walk on and my rabbits seem to like it more then the wood they have access to.

love the rabbit hotel....🐰🐰

Great design I just built a simular cage one floor only five sections ...Antigua W.I.
Very cool! I spent a few months in Antigua about 15 years ago. Such a beautiful place

It just falls through, I was worried about that when I built it. But I've never seen a rabbit with a wet head 🤷
The dropping from the rabbit on the top will fallon the rabbit on the bottom.

how do you keep the upper rabbits from using the bathroom on top of the lower rabbits? i didn't see a catch pan under the upper rabbits.

Don't want it to much work keeping it clean
Do you mean the wood ?

I raise about 100 baby's a month
where does the urine go and the dropings?
It all drops into big black buckets underneath the hutch. It's definitely not perfect but I would guess about 95% of it goes down on its own
Im by No means an ekspert, but isn’t it to small?

I'm new with rabbits, is it the urine
Concept is good but not practical.
It’s nice, but wouldn’t call it the best. Definitely not best in world.
Your handle matches your comment. I quite agree with you, lots of things I would change. Hopefully in the top 50%
