I love how each boss has different personalities. For example, the dragon tries to be friendly and nervous, the clown makes puns at your own failures and the frogs boast about themselves

That makes perfect sense, I like that. It's like instead of the game saying that this is "Game Over," it instead says "This is the ending you're gonna get." like it's a legitimate ending and not just an insta-kill button. Really wraps up the story, if that's how you wanted it to wrap up and didn't feel like fighting anymore. Good choice to show the credits after picking the bad choice to really make it like a real ending. Doesn't put all of the work you've given up to that point to waste at all. You played through most of the game, so no "pointless" insta-kill button.
Also, gives the bad ending more of a creepy vibe to me when they don't show it as a Game Over like how they did it here. I tend to think of the "Game Over" ending as an ending that didn't actually happen, more like a worst-case scenario. But with how this is presented, not as a Game Over but as, just, an ending, it's just unsettling to think this is a really a REAL ending, this really DID happen because of you. This is the real ending and you picked it.
The game doesn't even scold you for it like how a "Game Over" would judging by how you described it, it just goes straight to the credits. It's clear you're supposed to find this ending to be very wrong and take it as a "Game Over," but you're not forced to. The game doesn't say it's the wrong choice by telling you "Game Over," it just expects you to know, to use your moral conscience to determine whether you want to leave the game like this and consider this "Beating the Game" or take it as a "Game Over" and start over again. It tempts you with the credits to just put the controller down and say "I beat Cuphead," but it asks you,"Is this really beating the game, just getting the credits, or getting the ending you know is right? You may have wrapped up the story... but is this what you want?"
that's how I interpreted that, I honestly find that cool that the bad ending isn't just a "Game Over" button and actually treats itself like a legitimate ending, I bet it doesn't even tell you "Try Again" at the end of the credits like how many Bad Endings do, they pretend like you've completed the game and they just say "Try Again" at the end to scold you, but it really does sound like here the game doesn't even say anything to you, just silence as the credits roll

For those of you listening to the music every time you die, I just figured out why the music becomes slower and more “minor/scary” sounding. If you are playing a vinyl, there is usually a knob that lets you choose the rpm of a record (33, 45, 78) Play a record on 45 and then switch it to 33 while the needle is still down on the record, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

I love how much puns are loaded, but then the contrast to that (some casino crew + King Dice and the Devil) are genuine sentences that hide threats or just show them. Not to mention the illustrations.
I've always loved the Devil in this game but his game over/Death Cards are really dark toned, especially with the music. "Anyone who opposes me will be destroyed" sends massive chills.

i think for the devils 2nd 3rd and 4th phase death quote should be: "Beggers can't be chosers!" since at the beginning of cuphead they beg the devil for mercy and at the end they choose not give him the contracts and chose to fight him so i think it would fit

@@syent3006 I mean, he was just trying to live. Elder Kettle advised for Cuphead and Mugman to go with the deal and collect the soul contracts. He's only really evil if he says yes to handing over the contracts to the Devil.
