    As a 73-year-old I sharply disagree with John's "wisdom" to buy a new car every two years and let the warrantee cover your maintenance.
    Sadly, that warrantee will cost you thousands each year in depreciation, higher insurance costs, extra license fees and interest payments. If you learn to live with a "Junker" that is 10 to 15-years-old and save $150 a month for repairs plus $200 a month for replacement costs. You will rarely spend the full $1800 you saved for repairs in a year. You will also have enough to upgrade in three years to a $7000 car for cash then in five more years you will be able buy a $16,000 for cash, (including $4000 trade-in).
    By the time the kids go to college you will be $100.000 ahead of the guy who buys a new car every two years. The money I have saved by buying liability only insurance has saved me way more than the cost of any car I have ever owned so I can walk away from any crash that is my fault and still be money ahead. Please do not enter the trap of new cars unless you plan to own it for 15-20 years.

      I'm only 52, but I like your wisdom. I agree with his abt not getting trapped into thinking your only option is school loan's & a degree you won't use. I've been telling my kid's to learn a trade, that you'll always have a use for (mechanics, welding, etc) & then find something you enjoy doing that you can make a living on. We haven't made a vehicle payment in 20 ish yrs.

    You guys have opened up the conversation about swales. I didn’t know about them before you mentioned them in your live last week and now I’ve been researching like crazy. It’s an incredible way to restore the land. Im excited to implement them in my orchard design on my new property. It’s God’s providence that this information came in before we did anything. Wish I could join the class, it sounds awesome! Thanks for all you do P.I.M.P.s 😆

    Perfect timing. I'm exploring the potential to build a high tunnel on the downside of my "mound-system", or leaching field. The fill will be three-to-four feet above the lowest point of the mound, and I plan to run perimeter drainage between the planned tunnel-bed and the existing mound bed.
    Question: Does my plan require a soil biologist/engineer, or should I be safe if ensuring heavy rains do not wash any untreated biology from the mound to the the high tunnel bed?

    John is dead on about developing resources and handling finances. The mainstream focuses on collecting knickknacks and gewgaws, STUFF of no lasting value, rather than investing in infrastructure that will gain value over time. When the government run public schools were established, Economics 101 was deliberately left out - and we have suffered increasingly for that inculcated ignorance ever since.

    • @dwighthires3163
      @dwighthires3163 2 года назад +1

      Have you considered just giving it away? Generous people attract generous people. You cannot legally trade it, but you can give it away. At first those who receive it will include some ungrateful and thoughtless jerks but as you increase in wisdom of who to give it to, you will find that what goes around also comes around. Caution, this will not work if you do not have generosity at the core of who you are. You cannot give solely to get back, people smell that out so easily.

    • @jenbear8652
      @jenbear8652 2 года назад

      It’s a tree that’s like like legumes (beans, peas, clovers, etc). They accumulate nitrogen from the soil into their roots in a form that makes it easily available to the plants around them. So there’s usually no need to fertilize trees & shrubs or other plants nearby. If you look it up online, you can find quite a list of both trees & shrubs that are nitrogen fixers. Be cautious though, because some of the shrubs can be invasive in some regions.

    At the wages of the past and cost of vehicles and repair today, both, you shouldnt purchase a car. Ever. Work near where you live. Figure it out. No wage is out to help you out of the need of that debt. Til they do meet that need with expenditure, manage for yourself. A brilliant company pays for a company bus to collect and deliver workers where there isnt mass transit available to them. That goes into managing schedules, and age range choices. Family, individual, so fourth. Companies can easily manage such, and massively improve job satisfaction and generational growth. Smarter living independent or within society must come to these issues and resolve them.
