- Three law enforcement officers serving on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and one Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer were killed Monday after being met with “active gunfire” from a suspect inside an east Charlotte home. A total of eight law enforcement officers were shot, including three CMPD officers who were injured.
The officers were serving together on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force when they were shot while confronting a suspect inside a home on Galway Drive. The officers were rushed to the hospital but died as a result of their injuries. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction confirmed to WCNC Charlotte that two of the killed officers were probation officers on a full-time task force with the U.S. Marshals.
Joshua Eyer was identified as the CMPD officer who died on Monday night. Eyer worked with CMPD's North Tryon Division for six years.

What are you even talking about? Sounds like a guy was getting a warrant served on him and he fought back so the cops killed him and his son got pissed and shot a bunch of cops. Not sure what getting released from prison has to do with any of it.
Besides there isn't a state in this country that has early parole. They haven't done that since the 80s. Pretty much every state has an 85% requirement for violent offenders. Nonviolent offenders usually get "special" parole conditions attached to their sentence. Which is like old parole. I'm sure you would be just fine keeping convicts locked up for life up until you make a mistake like drinking and driving where someone gets hurt or a family member of yours gets into trouble. Once that happens all of a sudden prison sentences are too harsh. We have more of our population locked up than any other country on earth and that's because too many uneducated people watch the fear mongering and propaganda a certain "news" station puts out and then decide they have all of the answers. Guns are the root cause of so many deaths but you absolutely refuse to see it. If that 17 year old didn't have guns in the house police officers would have gone home today in Charlotte instead of to the morgue. But yeah keep telling yourself guns are not the problem.

However, it was revealed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings in a news conference that Terry Clark Hughes Jr was not the only shooter involved.
When the officers approached Hughes, they were met with gunfire, and in response, they returned fire, ultimately striking Hughes. He was later found deceased in a yard.
Chief Jennings also mentioned that the officers faced additional gunfire from inside the residence, but it remains unclear which officers were hit by whose bullets.
That’s the story, but it’s not actually true. The officers were actually hit by friendly fire. Not all of the police officers realized the suspect was hit and they thought they were firing on the suspect when it was the US marshals that were rushing towards the suspect and they accidentally shot the US marshals.

Yet there's been no other arrest as of this date 5-22-24... I'm beginning to think that the suspect shot one or two in the front yard and the rest cried out for help causing a bunch of cops to fire off a couple hundred rounds instantly killing the
