I really, really want to hear more about AFSOC’s integration with all the other units. I want to hear both the PJ or CCT (or SR) who integrated and the unit they integrated with (Seals, SF, etc). What was it like? Were there challenges in the process? From the host standpoint, were there reservations and concerns and how were they overcome?

Im glad you made this.. every time I tell somebody I was USAF, they ask me what plane I flew? and my old base was a one of a kind AFSOC base with several operators, our PJs,SOWTeam/ISR/SR, and SF have Ranger Tabs, we could all go to jump, mountain and SERE.

My dad was Ariforce in the 70s and he never told me all those other things existed. I knew there were jobs like his, SF guarding planes "Why not Minot?" and pilots. I really wish I had done some more study on AF jobs when I was coming out of HS.

I love when you guys can joke about the Air Force. You guys are legit special oops guys and that road isn’t easy n I’m sure there’s a high failure rate involved just like any other branch . I respect you guys I wasn’t SF but I was with the 82nd 1st battalion 501 infantry regiment. Well we had one of our boys hood kid step on n IED and blew his left leg off above the knee. Horrible so we called for a medivac and we cleared a LZ and it was the PJ’s n that was nothing but luck they were heading back with m SF guy and got the call and made it to us around 15 min and they made the golden hour and he is married with a couple kids runs a construction company with his dad n is living his life . Thank you Mikey’s still my best bud and I talk to him once a month a little more now with football we play fantasy together even though he’s Texas . God bless the Air Force PJ’s true professionals . We were in aw of you guys our hero’s

From what I’ve been told by a former Ranger, work life is fairly busy but normal, about 8-10 hour days then you go home, unless of course you’re training for deployment/on deployment or attending a school.

My goodness! I love your Podcast and am grateful for the information you share. Yes AF supports Navy, but AF has their own missions to support big Air Force operations. There is a huge difference. Core mission sets matter. Think Major Theater War, independent AF ops & objectives.

Navy recruit training is 8 weeks
Of course a lot of those hours spent there are learning basics of NAVAL traditions and terminology (bulk-head- port and starboard, Navy rank structure, ship life,
Some basic marching, formations , some basic first aid. Classroom instruction,
Some easy start stuff..
That's a fact of Navy recruit training.
When I attended Bootcamp in San Diego
In 1985 we had a greyhound bus filled with Navy recruits and Marine recruits.
We all started Day one together..
But while I was In Marine Corps Boot camp. We Saw the same navy guys graduating after 8 weeks meantime we still had five more weeks to go.
There is ZERO. argument that Marines got through a lot more training in Bootcamp than our Navy brothers across the fenceline in San Diego.
We march (Close order drill) to a high point.
We shoot rifles for Qualification which is two weeks of Intensive training on Marksmanship fundamentals (Navy excludes this in their recruit training that's a fact). The physical training (P.T.). In Marine corps Bootcamp is more intense to say the least (just a fact not talking trash)
Then we Marines have a Combat Mindset in Bootcamp with an Infantry rifleman's creed and Perspective. (Every Marine graduates as a Rifleman) we have Shooting Badge upon graduation (Navy doesn't have that in recruit training)
Then we also have something called "THE CRUCIBLE". which is a hell week type War with team problems to solve, minimal Chow. and sleep deprivation. Sleeping on the ground bivouacking patrolling, land navigation training and every Marine Recruits learns Hand to hand Combat and earns a TAN BELT which is basic punches and kicks and choices and counters to that. And rifle Combat pugil stick fighting etc.. by the time we graduate Bootcamp we've completed more training than any other U.S. Military recruit (another Fact not trash talk)
And THEN! we attend 4 weeks of M.C.T.! (Marine combat training) which is an Infantry training program taught by infantry M.O.S. /Marine combat instructors grunts etc... We throw live grenades and shoot machine guns and do more land navigation and patrolling.and War games. And more P.T.!!!!! So before we ever attend M.OS. school we've already completed 17 weeks of Combat training and etc and we're at that point just a Basically trained Marine.
Then we go to our M.O.S. for me that was Field Artillery cannoneer school at Ft. Sill OKLAHOMA. 8 weeks then we graduate that and then report to our new unit's and we are brand new and have a lot to learn and then we P.T. more! And attend Schools
And prepare for deployments and
Learn and mature and basically be a professional Marine... If u volunteer for Force Recon or MARSOC u generally need at least two years of active duty under ur belt to show maturity and pay your dues.
I trained all over the place and promoted and attended Many schools and Advanced in my Martial arts M.O.S. to become a Black belt instructor trainer as a Sgt.
I was a Black shirt wearing Instructor trainer. From Quantico Virginia
Deployed to Korean DMZ and okina Japan and participated in Real world operations and jungle warfare training more rifle ranges qualifications as well as pistol and Shotgun. I cross trained with U.S. Army at Ft. Polk Louisiana in the J.R.T.C. rotation for all infantry combat training..
More land nav.. etc..etc..etc .
Too me when u are a military professional and you do your Job to the highest level
It doesn't matter if u are "SPECIAL" or "AIRBORNE" or whatever just do your professional Job at the best u can muster with all the integrity u have
That's what matters I Loved my 21 years in uniform as a U.S. Marines met and trained with Army Rangers as well as some army S/F guys and always was humble enough to listen more than I spoke
And was grateful for the entire Career i had. Ego's ruin any good unit. It's unsafe to
Let your ego Run your Career or run your Behavior. I respect all branches. And am very proud of my Years serving.
Glad we have men who swear the oath and go do their jobs to the highest level.

PJ - Pararescue Jumpers fly into where Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Marine Force Recon Doldiers are, apply First Aid whenever necessary, bring wounded Soldiers to the hospital whenever and wherever they are sent. They bring doldiers to safe locations, saving lives. Helping and serving others. As do Army Rangers, Special Forces, Navy SEALS, Pararescue Jumpers, USMC Force Recon. They help people and help save lives.

The fact is everyone should know is. We are the USA everyone in Tier 1 HRTs are qualified. Everyone in tier 2 units are qualified. Everyone we have in a job is qualified to be there. The tribalism i see is extremely destructive. It’s literally no better than Afghan tribalism. People pass it off as a joke but general mccrystal seen where the tribalism was hurting our war fighting ability. So I made a choice to never even joke about anyone because it’s destructive. Stan is the man for identifying that.

Other seals claim they have fist fights and the cadre allow this. And that you should fight back, as if it’s a jail yard. They have mentioned on previous podcasts that “it depends on what’s on your 125a (elimination paperwork)” basically whether or not you’re recommended for return and if the reason for elimination had to do with morality or egregious offenses (striking a cadre etc.)
Personally I would say if you didn’t do anything wild to get eliminated and you’ve hit your retrain window of 24 months (assuming you’re a first term airmen) you’re on the right track with career guidance. I’d suggest try and get your supervisor and first shirt in the loop. That will give you the best and fastest chance when it comes time to put together your package

I remember listening to a podcast about SEALs and other DOD SF training. According to their topic, PJ training is a walk in the park compared to SEAL training.
