Really enjoyed your detailed overview of the 540i it really is a remarkable piece of machinery. I had the pleasure of driving one when my 535i xdrive went in for service and you are right about the annoying safety features that have you fighting the steering wheel... please just turn them off already! The power distribution is perfect for the 3 liter twin scroll turbo engine but some how it begs to be released with it’s true power potential. Maybe I’ll make a video about my 535i xdrive M sport!
SJ one more question was it reliable? And did it have mechanical issues? Im downgrading from a 2016 BMW M6 gc after I got rear ended and it got totaled, but I didn’t daily my car I basically babied it so it was quiet reliable but I’m planning on daily driving the 5 series and I’m questioning a lot. Plus congrats on your 911
BL3ND I hardly ever took it down, usually lived in the upper position but it was very reliable. The car did good except for sometimes the iDrive would have software bug issues. I only put 27,000 miles on it in 3 years.
Xdrive isn't for off roading alone, AWD adds an amazing layer of handling that the RWD version can't match. BMW is about more than straight line driving.
I think just like BMW left of the rear climate control and extra vents in the rear for the USA market, they left off the split fold down rear seats for the middle east.. or ski hole where the Armrest is. We also got stiffed on the fully digital dash in the US... I have to believe you have ventilated seats in the ME, maybe just this one doesn't since it has the Dekota letter and no the Napa.
SJ you're very right specs and trims do vary from region to region, they can even vary between countries here in the Middle East! Viewers should always check with their local dealer for final specifications of the car, our reviews are usually based on GCC spec and particularly UAE market cars. Thanks!
America loves to do everything bigger than everyone else......expect speed humps. Dubai rules supreme. I started of wanting a 530D, but I'm finding it very difficult to pass up on a 540i. Of cours in the US and Dubai fuelling a 540i is no problem.
@@BrownCarGuy stop tempting me lol. Nearer the time I'll test drive one for a day. I'll do a work commute drive and if I don't cry at the MPG, 540i it is. It's that simple.
Freaking hate run flats! They ride like run flats. They are super expensive. And, they don't really run flat for any substantial distance to save you from buying a new BMW stock wheel (super expensive) to be worth a crap!

Strange comment considering rwd makes a car handle better in the corners and awd perform better going straight. Fair weather assumed.
