It's a dam shame that especially Greeks still holding onto mythology based on Plato. So the word God and Jesus Christ that walked this earth isn't enough to convince you there's one God Jesus Christ.
People feel disconnected from Christianity. That is true not just for Greece but other Europeans (especially). They are no a path of re-connecting, not paganism.
@AncientGreeceRevisited A pagan is a follower of a polytheistic religion, such as those practised in ancient Greece or Rome. Pagans may believe in a multiplicity of gods and goddesses, or they may see them as names and forms that help people connect with the divine. Pagans often view nature as sacred and believe that the cycles of birth, growth, and death have spiritual meanings. Show me evidence of the mythical Gods. It's a myth, lol. Why would the Romans and Greek give up on their mythical Gods for Jesus Christ wasn't real. There must have been overwhelming evidence to prove he was the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, our lord and saviour, that gave us the old and new Testament. People aren't leaving Christianity. Young children and students are being taught that there is no God based on scientific evidence of existence and atheism.
it's a damn shame that people , especially Greeks, believe in a Jewish-related fiction tailor-made by some rulers in order to control the population, without many of them knowing how it was imposed on Greece......... But that's a long story. This happens only with the Abrahamic dogmas such as christianity and islam where they seek to impose and preach that their own truth is the only one and it must be accepted by everyone... There are many paths, and everyone may identify with whatever makes them feel wonderful and "at home". Especially, the Greeks who got violently stripped of their actual essence, forced to accept a foreign dogma by violence.. There is not just the Platonic thought, there is way much more essence. So, your statement is truly funny in multiple aspects. And you seem to suffer from religious ego.
@@georgesbackyardgymgee it's almost like there was a legal doctrine that threatened death to all who didn't practice Christianity that made the spread of it possible.
14:41 Since he mentioned Heraclitus it would be interesting, if he hasn't yet expressed it, to hear his opinion on the following part of fragmentum B 5 that's attributed to him: καὶ τοῖς ἀγάλμασι δὲ τουτέοισιν εὔχονται, ὁκοῖον εἴ τις δόμοισι λεσχηνεύοιτο, οὔ τι γινώσκων θεοὺς οὔδ᾽ ἥρωας οἵτινές εἰσιν.
Christianity was heavily influenced by Ancient Greek philosophy and logic, and Indoeuropean thinking in general. We took a doctrine that was strictly monotheistic and adulterated it with Holy Trinity, Mother of God, Angels, Saints and you name it, now Christianity has probably the same number of Gods as Hinduism. Now, the turns change: the mindset of those who dream of bringing back the Ancient Greek religion is shaped by the Orthodox Church, if you understand what I mean...
@@gerassimos.fourlanos Christianity originated from the Eastern Mediterranean world ; the Greek way of life and thinking permeated the entire region. You could not survive in antiquity without knowledge of Greek. It was language of commerce and art. ‘Ar’ ‘ka’ ‘dia’ literally means ‘gold’ ‘has’ ‘knowledge’ or in other words: knowledge is gold. The ancients didn’t practice religions like we do today as they didn’t believe in things. Their world was mythic and divine as they viewed life as such. They were the only gods in existence, but they all knew that they were the light of life in all living forms. Everyone was the light of life, but every form acted as a prism thus making every light unique in colour, intensity and luminosity. It goes so far in fact, that our ancestors even wrote the story of creation in our numbers 0-10. Even the word number (numra) literally means ‘we are falling’ (ne um ra). 0. Ze rro means captured life which the circle represents. 1. Ni/nja means ‘feel, listen, or sense’. 2. Dy/di means ‘know’. 3. Tre/tre means ‘the new’. 4. Katër/Ka tër means ‘everything exists’. 5. Pes/s’pe means ‘the seen and unseen’. 6. Gjashtë/Gja asht means ‘it is alive’. 7. Shatë/shtat means stature, or ‘body’. 8. Tetë/te të means ‘with him’. 9. Nenë/ne në means ‘with her’. 10. Dhjetë means ‘gives life’. And there you go my loved ones. Now you know what our ancestors did and what they were thinking when they made the words we now use. Please do remind everyone that they were not religious or believers, but the actual expression of god in existence as the form they inhabited. We still are.
"they were not religious or believers, but the actual expression of god in existence as the form they inhabited. We still are." . .... indeed, that's the essence of it all.
@ Yes, but the truth of it all has been colluded by religion and politics and thus lost to the public or individual. We were once one people and we spoke a basic rudimentary language with simple vowels or monosyllables. These ancient meanings have been found in a small isolated variants of the Gheg branch of the Albanian language. Seeing how these people were not Christianised and remained isolated outside of civilisation in the mountains of the region, they’ve managed to retain a language consisting solely of rudimentary sounds and words. They found 19 vowels in their language, far exceeding any European language and strangely enough-many of them explain the meaning of many European words and names. But what is even more remarkable, is that the etymology of names in Greek mythology is almost entirely explained and corresponds to the story surrounding the name using the Gheg monosyllables. It’s sad that politics and religion is standing in the way of us discovering what our ancestors meant when they said what they said. Hopefully we can reconcile our lost history.
I am 100% for religious freedom and I am glad that in Greece everybody can believe whatever he wants... However it must be madeclear to our foreign friends that this temple is not a real continuation of the ancient greek religion that died out 7 centuries ago.
@@AncientGreeceRevisitedthe oldest a continuity could be historically plausible is ~ 500 years from Plethon to now. But that a hard history to uncover and document if possible. Regardless I don’t think it’s that important since we have the texts, we always had these texts which can inspire us and have inspired us across the centuries. We are better off in some regards for this because we are less burdened by the past in some ways. Unbroken continuity is not a prerequisite for valid religious existence and meaningful experience.
@@AngeloNasios Indeed, it's not. A traditional religion cannot die for as long as the tradition itself exists - and the folk, the people who embody and perpetuate that tradition by their free will, live on.
The hellenes do not bother themselves with questions such as these, it is unanswerable and depends on the context. Pan is wild nature which also includes the universe, but other gods are also the same, does that mean that Pan is these other gods? Yes and no. It doesn't bother us and we worship each god as if they were distinct.

@@AncientGreeceRevisitedFalse, they ignore and disobey God all their life for mortal pleasure. And then wonder why they feel so distant from him?
14:41 Since he mentioned Heraclitus it would be interesting, if he hasn't yet expressed it, to hear his opinion on the following part of fragmentum B 5 that's attributed to him:
καὶ τοῖς ἀγάλμασι δὲ τουτέοισιν εὔχονται, ὁκοῖον εἴ τις δόμοισι λεσχηνεύοιτο, οὔ τι γινώσκων θεοὺς οὔδ᾽ ἥρωας οἵτινές εἰσιν.
There is not one ancient Greek philosopher who believed in these fake gods.
@@gerassimos.fourlanos Christianity originated from the Eastern Mediterranean world ; the Greek way of life and thinking permeated the entire region. You could not survive in antiquity without knowledge of Greek. It was language of commerce and art. It’s makes perfect sense that early Christianity would borrow and incorporate Greek philosophy and Greek religion.

This "continuity" is one of the first thing that I usually ask, as I did in this video.
Good Morning Dear Friends…….🌞
Could Pan be just another emanation of Kronos/Saturn?
The hellenes do not bother themselves with questions such as these, it is unanswerable and depends on the context. Pan is wild nature which also includes the universe, but other gods are also the same, does that mean that Pan is these other gods? Yes and no. It doesn't bother us and we worship each god as if they were distinct.
@agsrf6479 I do because if Pan in infinite that means that other prominent Gods are not, like Zeus
No my friend
