I'm only 7 hours into the game so I don't know what the story is like really. The game is fun if not overly "gridy" for cards and experience separately. I do have to say that naturally (because of the time and added hardware) P3 and P4 are better on a technical level to me and the battles feel more involved and navigating menus is less of a hassle. If definitely has a different feel to the overall world and feels grittier.
I think this game is probably the best in the series. I don't care what others say about the Battle/Negotiation/and Clunky menus. All of the Personas are good in their own way.

To all the people saying gameplay is inferior to later games yeah it is by a lot but the beauty of persona 2 is its charectors jun micheal are my favorite followed by maya and ginko this game is way darker and depressing and the ending had me sobbing really good story best charectors I've seen so far deepest charectors I've ever seen btw if anyone has a game with a better story recommend it to me but back on topic oh my god amazing
I'll pick this up.. when it hits europe, I have the persona 3 portable cards.. on my wall (lol) along with dissidia 012 and FFIV complete collection.. might aswell add more up there for completionist sake and the fact.. I'm a blatent PSP rpg fan :D
yeah, i agree 100% on that. but i still think Persona 4 Golden is the best in the persona game this far. although i kinda wish P5 will be more open world

yer its gotta be one of my top 10 , i would say if persona 2 had come to the US like it did us in the EU . this game would be a POWER HOUSE! plus it also it come's down to taste i just happen to like the darken tone and fighting demons then battling shadows XD
Yeah I bought this because I love Persona 2 and I already have Eternal Punishment, but Gemini and Translator Tom did a better job taking the original Innocent Sin PSX version and transhacking it. Atlus made Persona 1 better by far, but with this one I was not as pleased.
I get that the average player won't find this game to be that enjoyable and I am totally okay with that. This game is like a love letter to the hardcore Persona fans who never got to play this gem.
In terms of battle it is the weakest MegaTen game I even liked Persona 1's battle mechanics more. In terms of raw characterization it's weaker, but this is a problem with age, newer MegaTen games have more text, more text leads to deeper characterization. It does have one of the better plots though in terms of raw concept and it's even executed well. It just has a lot of little flaws some come with the age and some were poor decisions at the time of release *combat*
ok this is making me laugh , there are loads of comments saying "its so slow it feels , should be in par with persona 2 and 3 " in which i say HELLLLLLO this game was made 1999 , and if im right persona 3 was made 8 years after , of course it ain't gonna be as fast , for the time this was like being on speed lol XD
I think the majority of people who say that this game is too slow don't own a psp 3000. On a older psp, this game has very long load times without the data install. Annnnnnyway, so far, I really enjoy this game.

Okay but this port was made in 2012, so it should be faster than P3P which uses more advanced graphics and came out a year before this port.
In gameplay it falls behind the others in the series . In plot it smack the other in the face

I don't think it's that bad, but yeah, it certainly could have used a complete remake rather than an enhanced port.

I like p2, but p1 is a bit to much of a hassle for me :/, but it is good
