  • Do not confuse this Gibson Les Paul with lesser “faded” models from the past. These newly released faded models are full spec’d Gibson Les Paul 60’s guitars with uncovered humbuckers and a thin, satin nitro finish. There’s a lot to love here.

    I have owned, played and repaired many Les Paul’s! The satin finish IS a big deal! I own a ‘50’s Les Paul Std. Faded. It is LOUD without an amp! It is the BEST Les Paul I have owned! I have ownex four previously. I have played real ‘57’s, ‘58’s etc. These are AWESOME! As with ALL Gibsons they need a setup. I filed the nut, brought the action down a tad. It plays itself. It ate my PRS Core Custom 24!

    As usual, Chris is right about the tone regarding satin or gloss. The difference in resonance on an electric axe is so minimal if you were blind folded you wouldn’t be able to hear a difference. I’ll mention this though from my own experiences…. Many times swapping out your bridge will indeed make a difference in resonance. I have a Gibson SG which sounded dead unplugged, I had swapped out the bridge actually to a Schaller one and it woke the damn thing right up strumming it unplugged, same thing also happened to a friends guitar as well.
    Cool video guys! I do prefer the classic glossed finish on electric guitars typically myself, just personal preference, different strokes for different folks 🤙

    "That's free." You're too generous 😀Nice guitar, great playing (as always). I am a fan of satin finishes so keen to check one of these out. I prefer 60's neck over 50's but the 50's Faded has a nice Honey Burst . . . decisions, decisions.

    That playing demo was nothing short of awesome! I own 12 Les Paul's...and until my recent purchase of the Greeny, i wouldn't even consider a satin finish. Now I'm in love with them. I wish i could post a photo of my Greeny, as it has the most insane top I've ever seen on any Gibson...a true anomaly in which i won the guitar lottery with...

    • @redduketeleman
      @redduketeleman 2 месяца назад

      I looked at greeny and I was going to press the button and then saw it was satin. I'm not sure if I could live with satin. Are you still in love with it? And how is that p/up configuration working for you?

    • @barrymiller2272
      @barrymiller2272 2 месяца назад

      @redduketeleman if you're asking if it's an awesome Les Paul...the answer is absolutely ! I've looked at the "Greeny offerings" lately and will say Gibson has not been offering great tops! Since the hype is toned down. When played, the satin nitro finish will gloss up, and you can buff them into nearly a gloss finish. I love the pup's, & will stand by with my favorite LP. For now anyway....

    I like the faded look & feel too. Not a fan of the Back pu covers. Why didn't they do Zebra pu's? - isn't it just a matter of plastics? And if they didn't have Slim taper necks on that guitar, I'd might be more interested.

      Basically, you’re paying $1,200 for the truss Rod cover that says “Standard”. Everyone knows the only “real” Les Pauls are Standards and Customs.
      I’m just kidding on both, but in all honesty there are people who believe it.

    the heritage cherry sunburst "faded" top looks amazing ummm but the mahogany faded sides and back not so much it's just a bit too light in color and throws the whole thing off, just my opinion it looks too much like Milk chocolate to me lol Peace !

    I wouldn't call this an entry-level les paul by no means..
    I have played them both 50's and 60", 50's I think should have covers ..
    Just as good as a glossed up standard
    Sound wise , to me some of the standards are over finished they look like 50 coats of clear on them .
    Each there own..

  • @bingobango4840

    I absolutely HATE satin or matte finishes. What no one talks about is that, when they wear, where your arm or hand rests, they become "polished" and look glossy in those areas. The exact opposite of how a normal finish actually ages.

    • @These_go_to_eleven_1959
      @These_go_to_eleven_1959 Год назад +5

      I also think on a classy looking Les paul with the figured maple top the satin or matte looks wrong on so many levels.

    All very nice except the colour. Come on Gibson, you must know by now, the ultimate Les Paul looks like a Jimmy Page number 1 or 2 faded burst. I guess you save that colour for the Top of the range ultra expensive guitars, but come on it's only paint. And yes, I know they do another colour but it's way too washed out.
