A friend treated me to an amazing day of motorcycle hill climbing in Southwest Idaho! I had never been to a motorcycle hill climbing event before and it was an amazing experience! I saw some of the best names in the business going up against the hill. The day capped off with the King of the Hill contest.

One the gals I work with was on her way to the Big Nasty and she witnessed a car running a motorcyclist off the road and into a ditch. As the only witness to the accident, she stuck around to assist the victim and talk to the police. When all was said and done, the event was over. She watched the video and almost had an anxiety attack during the drive sequence!

The old Minnesota hill climbers from the 70's make these guys look like amateurs. Big bored out Harley's kicked ass.
The widow maker seems much harder.
Came up short on a 100 foot triple, bent the bars around the tank with my sternum, so I figured it was time to go climb hills. This sport is under rated and riders are all underpaid. Get sucked into that rear wheel and you'll understand. I don't use the throttle; I just hold it wfo and use the kill button as my throttle. It's faster and helps you to keep better form. Nothing like the smell of bubble gum nitro in the morning.

Too bad the riders do not really get a fair take on the $$$$ taken in at the gate. Thousands of spectators pay to watch this event.
Really! That is chicken feed. They should get 10X that much.
The riders were paid $30,000 cash over the weekend. The King of the Hill was just one segment of the 3-day weekend. This is the largest and highest paying motorcycle event in Idaho by far.

It takes courage and skill to climb those hills! It takes pure stupidity to stand around watching without hearing protection. Don't ask me how I know . . .
They are not allowed a running start? I like to hit the hill running about 80 mph.
