Hey guys, I've spoken to Kyoto Zoo a few minutes ago. Momo has diarrhea but it has been attended to and being monitored. He hasn't been drinking much, but, tries to eat bananas and the staff is pushing fluid to maintain his hydration level. This may account for why Momo is looking sick right now. I am praying for his earliest recovery. We love you Momo. Get better soon big boy. From Australia
How incredible is Gentaro. He can sense that his father is sick. He is keeping an eye on his dad. What a brilliant animal. Momo is not well and the diarrhea is taken a toll on Momo's body due to the loss of fluid and the loss of appetite which makes it hard for the big boy. I am sure he'll recover in no time he looks so weak at present moments. I trust the Kyoto staff to look after him well.

It just broke my heart seeing Dad not feeling good. You could just see it in his eyes. And it so touched my heart seeing the rest of family right there by his side knowing he was not feeling good very concerned all of them. They are the most loving and caring family. The zoo posted that he was taking antibiotics for a wound under his chin. One of the side effects of the medicine is diarrhea, which he has. They took him off the medication and were treating his diarrhea, slowly he was regaining his appetite, so hopefully he will be back to himself in no time.

I so hope it is NOT covid, and maybe just a 24 hour bug, or the heat, but he's been like this for about a weak. I literally have not seen him eat in 2 days. The keeper tried to feed him, and he rejected that. That is when I began to panic.😩
Gentaro is the first who understood that is father is unwell and stay beside him They must give him some thing like laxatif (he is always eating and not moving too much)
Yeah. Im truly touched by Gentaro's serious concern over his Idol Dad's wellbeing. I hope a vet was contacted something is seriously wrong with Momotaro. He has not appeared to be feeling good for a while I thought maybe it was because of the heat. But he needs to be seen by a vet asap. He would never lay in dirt if he wasn't very sick.

You are right! Gentaro is very intelligent and sensitive! He is a great son and will be an awesome silverback and father! But I feel sorry for him since he is rejected by his mother very often!

Lying down on those metal rafters does not look comfortable. Momrntaro should have a nice, comfortable bed made of hay, especially while he is so unwell.
It has been soo hot in Japan, I worry about mosquitos that carry disease. I hope he is ok. I hope its not Covid! San diego zoo's troop git covid and their older Silverback got hit hard! I am sure the zoo vets will do blood tests asap because for a Silverback not to eat for even 1 day can be dangerous.
I wondered the same thing...if it was covid. I surely hope not. If it is the entire Momotaro's will probably have to be treated like the Winston family. That was really hard to watch Winston suffer through. Momo looks weak, and sunken eyes. Maybe it's just the heat, or a 24 hour bug. Oh dear. 😩
After watching another video from another videographer, I agree, something is seriously wrong with Momotaro...to lose weight that fast and not seem comfortable no matter where he lies down...the vets need to do blood work and ultrasound...Heart disease is very prominent in gorilla's....he needs to be checked out because something is definitely not right.
@@TheFlashyWeasel After Momotaro's favorite keeper tried to feed him and he rejected it, sure they are well aware of the situation, and I am going to have faith they are on top of it. Momotaro needs replenishing fluids ( apparently you can give gorillas Gatorade...was given to Winston family during their covid bout) . From the looks of it maybe he needs a dose of antibiotics, a nice hay bed in a cool room, some good tasty fruit snacks to replenish his weight when his appetite comes back, AND lots of rest. Momotaro not to worry, your family is safe, and you have MANY MANY friends who love you dearly. Get well my big handsome friend. 💘

He does look sick, but I feel like people are overreacting that he's "losing weight." He still looks nice and tubby to me, just achy. Still, I hope Momotaro feels better soon. Looks like something digestive? He's smart to try and avoid the others if he doesn't feel too good. Oh yes definitely, you can see that he is not himself. The family are all very concerned. I hope that he is not in pain! He seems to need quiet and wants to sleep a lot. I hope that it is not a viral infection, or a blockage of any kind. I hope that the vet will do a full blood work check on him and that the keepers will keep us posted.

Ms Hina, Zookeeper, or videographer... what has Momotaro been diagnosed with ? Give us a hint of what is going on, please. With the loose skin hanging from around his chest, you can see the outline of his ribs. He looks to have poor skin turger, around his face he has increased wrinkles from weight loss & dehydration. He is losing his mobility, when you have a negative nitrogen balance it is difficult to walk around. No energy. He has not felt good for a longer time, more than 2 days. Kyoto Zoo takes excellent care of this family. Thank you!
Hes probably just feeling a little under the weather. He will be back to himself in another day or 2. It has to wear off of him and his appetite will pick back up. He's gonna be okay. 😍
They probably have e.Coli from something they have eaten. Kintaro looks sick here too but he has progressed to be so much worse not sure there is much to be done except hydrate and hope they can bounce back but they may not make it….baby and dad are affected by this mysterious illness the worst but they all have loose stools and are fighting something inside their bodies.
That’s what I thought too. Keeping his knees pulled up. Jeeez, he looks positively miserable. I can never fathom how with his huge body he can balance into a comfort nap on the beams, but today he was hanging on everywhere, both hands and both feet, knees up. For a moment, it looked like his was asking the keepers for something or they were maybe getting a mouth swab or temperature from him. Oooh Momo, big guy, hoping you’re better fast.
@@katewaterbaby It does looked like he was being chked by the zookeepers and Momo was obedient to do it. The scene where Momo was crouching on his elbows and knees near the pond, he looked stressed. Whn he saw Gentato looking at him with concern nearby, he turned away n looked the other way. So heart wrenching😢🤒. Momo must be either embarrassed to be in this weak condition or he has to be in really great pain. Get well Momotaro🙏

I go through phases but this is the only thing I watch regularly besides footy lol. I eventually get over my pain, harden up and watch another round joy from them but not their living situation. This enclosure is much too small and very ugly! Furthermore I do not understand why they don't get various veggies? Some people say that they get veggies inside!? Only grass and leaves can't cover all their needs! Another thing that really bothers me is Gentaro's situation! It's lovely to watch how much Genki loves Kintaro! He is a cute little quy! But on the other hand she rejects Gentaro constantly! This must be very offending for him since he is a sensitive and intelligent boy! If there was a bigger group he could get in closer touch with another mother figure but in this enclosure there is no space and people say Genki wouldn't tolerante any other females! So Gentaro has to be for himself although he is not yet 10 years old and would still need affection and care! Watching all this helplessly from far away made me quit watching frequently! I wonder, given their nature, do they ever get so tired of being closed in with so little to interest them, that they become sad and ill from it? I think they must be capable of depression since they have all of our other feelings? Never mind me, it's probably just the heat or a tummy upset.
A basic tenet of medicine, & I guess veterinary medicine as well, is that you rule out all possible physical causes of a problem before turning to mental causes. Whatever ails Momotaro, I hope they find out the problem. Poor guy💔
Yes they do. If you do some research you will find that it is neglect for welfare. They suffer greatly. You put yourself in their shoes for one day by day 2 you be crazy.
Very worried about him. He's been looking unwell for awhile. I wondered if the rash on his head is a symptom. Remember he had that big wound under his chin. Maybe antibiotics has him sick. They are all going to be sick if something isn't done about the way they are living. Green mildew and mold on everything. The grounds are filthy. Do things ever get washed down. I totally agree with you.They need to take a hint from Chester zoo in England and Dublin zoo,Ireland.I think they need to clean their enclosure and give them more space.I think he is depressed and has been for a while,no enrichment, just sitting and eating every day.I pray there is nothing physical wrong.
Good morning to you guys. I've just happened to watch this episode of Momo. I woke up to the sound of this music each day and as usual always looking forward to seeing my gorilla first thing in the morning. One thing I've noticed today is that Momo doesn't look well. Somehow, I can just sense that there is something is wrong I'm quite worried. Note that his facial features seemed to have shrunk a little. His composure worries me, as he exhibits a form of discomfort. Also, his eldest son appeared worried as well as his wife Genkin. I have watch Momo since he was 10 years old and I know when there's something is wrong with his health, and he's not eating well. Momo loves his food. Please Kyotozoo can you attend to Momo's health. He'll need a complete thorough physical check-up to ensure that we will prolong his life for the sake of his family and us. He lost his father at an early age thus, this recent Momo's behavior is a worrying thing for all of us. There are many people out there around the world that adores this entire family, therefore we have to care for him. Thank you Kyoto zoo for your tireless, and wonderful work. We greatly appreciate all the hard work you put into caring for our animals. I love you Gentaro, Momo, Genki and Kintaro.
I wonder if Momo has some kind of food allergy. I have seen an increasing diversity of foods lately, which is great, but it's possible some are not agreeing with Momo. Since he eats so much, a certain vegetable may be causing gas. He also has skin acne on his forehead which could be allergies or dermatitis. The facility is not ideal, but the staff truly makes up for that with their devoted time to feeding, playing and caring for this gorilla family. I agree that Momo's short temper and grumpiness is connected to him not feeling very well. ANd he does look like he is losing a little weight.
What are they doing to help them? All of them has something going on. Don't forget Genki's teeth. Ever time you look around Kintaro has a new injury. Let's talk about the multiple wounds on Genki. Something's got to be done soon. Poor, poor family!😢😥💕

It has been soo hot in Japan, I worry about mosquitos that carry disease. I hope he is ok. I hope its not Covid! San diego zoo's troop git covid and their older Silverback got hit hard! I am sure the zoo vets will do blood tests asap because for a Silverback not to eat for even 1 day can be dangerous.
I wondered the same thing...if it was covid. I surely hope not. If it is the entire Momotaro's will probably have to be treated like the Winston family. That was really hard to watch Winston suffer through. Momo looks weak, and sunken eyes. Maybe it's just the heat, or a 24 hour bug. Oh dear. 😩
After watching another video from another videographer, I agree, something is seriously wrong with Momotaro...to lose weight that fast and not seem comfortable no matter where he lies down...the vets need to do blood work and ultrasound...Heart disease is very prominent in gorilla's....he needs to be checked out because something is definitely not right.
@@TheFlashyWeasel After Momotaro's favorite keeper tried to feed him and he rejected it, sure they are well aware of the situation, and I am going to have faith they are on top of it. Momotaro needs replenishing fluids ( apparently you can give gorillas Gatorade...was given to Winston family during their covid bout) . From the looks of it maybe he needs a dose of antibiotics, a nice hay bed in a cool room, some good tasty fruit snacks to replenish his weight when his appetite comes back, AND lots of rest.

Oh yes definitely, you can see that he is not himself. The family are all very concerned. I hope that he is not in pain! He seems to need quiet and wants to sleep a lot. I hope that it is not a viral infection, or a blockage of any kind. I hope that the vet will do a full blood work check on him and that the keepers will keep us posted.

Ms Hina, Zookeeper, or videographer... what has Momotaro been diagnosed with ? Give us a hint of what is going on, please. With the loose skin hanging from around his chest, you can see the outline of his ribs. He looks to have poor skin turger, around his face he has increased wrinkles from weight loss & dehydration. He is losing his mobility, when you have a negative nitrogen balance it is difficult to walk around. No energy. He has not felt good for a longer time, more than 2 days. Kyoto Zoo takes excellent care of this family. Thank you!

They probably have e.Coli from something they have eaten. Kintaro looks sick here too but he has progressed to be so much worse not sure there is much to be done except hydrate and hope they can bounce back but they may not make it….baby and dad are affected by this mysterious illness the worst but they all have loose stools and are fighting something inside their bodies.
It's like he went to the zoo keeper to tell them he's sick, and he needs help, now. Hes begging for help not treats. He dont want to die.

That’s what I thought too. Keeping his knees pulled up. Jeeez, he looks positively miserable. I can never fathom how with his huge body he can balance into a comfort nap on the beams, but today he was hanging on everywhere, both hands and both feet, knees up. For a moment, it looked like his was asking the keepers for something or they were maybe getting a mouth swab or temperature from him. Oooh Momo, big guy, hoping you’re better fast.

The scene where Momo was crouching on his elbows and knees near the pond, he looked stressed. Whn he saw Gentato looking at him with concern nearby, he turned away n looked the other way. So heart wrenching😢🤒. Momo must be either embarrassed to be in this weak condition or he has to be in really great pain. Get well Momotaro🙏

@@elisabethroth1591 yeh I love them all deeply. Sometimes I can't watch too much if it distress me about the conditions they have to tolerate. I go through phases but this is the only thing I watch regularly besides footy lol. I eventually get over my pain, harden up and watch another round joy from them but not their living situation. Once more I absolutly agree with you! I started to watch this family on a daily base during last wintertime but I stopped doing so because their situation made me feel bad! This enclosure is much too small and very ugly! Furthermore I do not understand why they don't get various veggies? Some people say that they get veggies inside!? Only grass and leaves can't cover all their needs! Another thing that really bothers me is Gentaro's situation! It's lovely to watch how much Genki loves Kintaro! He is a cute little quy! But on the other hand she rejects Gentaro constantly! This must be very offending for him since he is a sensitive and intelligent boy! If there was a bigger group he could get in closer touch with another mother figure but in this enclosure there is no space and people say Genki wouldn't tolerante any other females! So Gentaro has to be for himself although he is not yet 10 years old and would still need affection and care! Watching all this helplessly from far away made me quit watching frequently! But I still visit them from time to time just to assure myself if they are ok! Sadly today Momotaro is not!😥

Yes they do. If you do some research you will find that it is neglect for welfare. They suffer greatly. You put yourself in their shoes for one day by day 2 you be crazy.
Very worried about him. He's been looking unwell for awhile. I wondered if the rash on his head is a symptom. Remember he had that big wound under his chin. Maybe antibiotics has him sick. They are all going to be sick if something isn't done about the way they are living. Green mildew and mold on everything. The grounds are filthy. Do things ever get washed down. Their care has really gone down. Is it lack of money?

Good morning to you guys. I've just happened to watch this episode of Momo. I woke up to the sound of this music each day and as usual always looking forward to seeing my gorilla first thing in the morning. One thing I've noticed today is that Momo doesn't look well. Somehow, I can just sense that there is something is wrong I'm quite worried. Note that his facial features seemed to have shrunk a little. His composure worries me, as he exhibits a form of discomfort. Also, his eldest son appeared worried as well as his wife Genkin. I have watch Momo since he was 10 years old and I know when there's something is wrong with his health, and he's not eating well. Momo loves his food. Please Kyotozoo can you attend to Momo's health. He'll need a complete thorough physical check-up to ensure that we will prolong his life for the sake of his family and us. He lost his father at an early age thus, this recent Momo's behavior is a worrying thing for all of us. There are many people out there around the world that adores this entire family, therefore we have to care for him. Thank you Kyoto zoo for your tireless, and wonderful work. We greatly appreciate all the hard work you put into caring for our animals. I love you Gentaro, Momo, Genki and Kintaro.

I wonder if Momo has some kind of food allergy. I have seen an increasing diversity of foods lately, which is great, but it's possible some are not agreeing with Momo. Since he eats so much, a certain vegetable may be causing gas. He also has skin acne on his forehead which could be allergies or dermatitis. The facility is not ideal, but the staff truly makes up for that with their devoted time to feeding, playing and caring for this gorilla family. I agree that Momo's short temper and grumpiness is connected to him not feeling very well. ANd he does look like he is losing a little weight.

I just researched another zoo which maybe a possibility lots of acerage but a sanctuary would be best of course. May need to crowd fund. If zoo said. No stuff em. How old was Momo's dad when he died and what did he die from.
Momotaro's father was Biju, 1987-1999. He died of asphyxiation.
He died a few days before Momo was born.
