As a 15 year old 16 next year (2025) im planning to buy one of these if my PC reselling business continues on its tight path. Right now i have a a6 2.4 2006 witch still is in pretty good shake but this has alwaya been my dream car and il be thrilled if i get one. I am quite worried about repairs I can’t do on my own and the repair costs. Awesome build featured in the video and great video as always!!! 👍👍 Sorry for any misspelling I’m Swedish
PC reselling can definitely get you there, if done properly. I did it for a few years, and even while half arseing it, I made enough. I just bought a 4.2 tdi a few months ago, and it's been in for some work since then. We've had to replace the water lines, fix a few leaks, replace two injectors, replace the fuel rail (unnecessarily), and the diesel cooler. Had to flush the entire fuel system, etc. Most of the work was done by one dude (skilled with his hands, terrible problem solver/trouble shooter), and the work was straight forward enough. The main issue with this car is that a lot of the jobs were engine out jobs, so it's taken much longer than it should have done. So if your plans work out for you, I would suggest you prepare yourself (mentally more than anything) to pull the engine at least once to do all the big maintenance jobs - even if they don't need doing yet, just to future proof yourself - and regularly keep up with maintenance. Also, have a skilled Audi mechanic with a scanner look the car over before you buy it. Go into the deal with both eyes open, so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Best of luck to you!
I’m gonna say it, for non heavy duty applications, VAG makes the best sounding diesels imo. They (when modified properly) sound like their gas equivalents but run on diesel instead. This sounds exactly like a gas v8 (if you listen to an American diesel v8, it will sound nothing like this). Audis diesel V6 sounds just like a gtr when it’s straight piped. I love diesels in general but the ones from VAG are on another level
i remember when i wanted a 300bhp build for my a5 2.0tdi i got violated when you told me to just buy a 3.0 tdi ahahah, v8 tdi does sound mental tho i need one in my life
A few years ago I had a 2008 4.2 TDi and replaced the “boat anchor” rear muffler with mandrel bend SS hotdogs on each side. Was a bit droning at times. Fuel economy was amazing (was remapped) 7.6 L/100 klm highway average for a long 5 hour trip on cruise the whole way. Best vehicle I ever owned. I also changed the steering wheel to a flat bottom and upgraded MMI to the colour version. Wish I still owned it. Towed the 2.4 ton full sized semi-off-road van like it wasn’t even there. Ride improved with it on. Surprised the AirSuspension held up with the downball weight. Was a 5 seater which I preferred. Gold (champagne or whatever it’s called). over beige leather. AC compressor seized, shredded belt, left me stranded towing a trailer and vehicle full of stuff. $3500 AUD just for the damm compressor.
I just bought the exact year model and engine. Was considering getting it remapped first up, but seeing your fuel consumption figures has convinced me. What did you get pottering around town? The guy I bought the car from loaded nigh on 2 tonne of sand in the car, and the suspension handled it like a champ! While I may not load that much, I do load and carry stock from the farm, so it was one of the things that drew me to it.
EuroCar Upgrades did the Remap, upgraded MMI and Steering wheel. Really regret selling her. No idea on around town fuel economy. Too far back to remember. Never had an issue with the air suspension or injectors but the AC compressor seized north of Tamworth NSW of all places. $3500 AUD just for the Damm part! I sold it once I learned (back then $25,000) to remove engine via front bumper removal to change the twin turbos. Apparently it’s a common thing to go wrong. If this is ever done, consider replacing the chain guides as well. I loved how the oil filter was “right in your face”. If only other manufacturers would design like this.
To throw back to 1990’s America, that sounds gnarly. So used to hearing pickup trucks with trash can sized exhaust tips and they sound like trash. This beast is just musical. Kudos!
It’s the “mental spud van” I’d say now it sounds Monstrous 💪🏼💨💨 It does sound pretty damn amazing, I’d never have the stereo on if was mine. Cracking job lads, especially from Reuben 👍🏼
I have 2014 Q7 4.2 TDI V8 CCFC engine. Just ordered the timing chain kit, I’m tempted to change it to straight pipe exhaust when changing the chains. I love how this one sounds, “The Beast ROARING “❤❤❤❤

11:24 when you tighten flex plate you should lock crankshaft as you turned a bit engine clockwise, thats risk of skip chain on sprocket and wrong timing

No need to turn this political. Yes, tuned diesel engines are a lot of fun, but it's also understandable that it's ending.
