There’s only one bad thing about US mobile everyone should know. They have an issue going on with their services. People have been complaining about their data completely turned off randomly even though it shouldn’t be happening and I’m a victim of it as well. It happens every week and it’s getting annoying to the point I’m considering switching. I have one option left so if it doesn’t work I’m switching. Checked areas where alternate base carriers hold the RF licenses - the app doesn’t know about them. Example: Viaero in Eastern CO. (Considering the speaker is in Boulder it’s not a surprise he’s clueless about rural CO.)
The map claims AT&T is the best coverage. That’s not true. They’re riding on Viaero out here.

Best place to check an area for coverage is Walmart, go in see what carrier service is for sale in store. For example where I’m at Verizon is all that’s available. I find AT&T and T Mobile rural coverage is still bad.

    Nice list as usual.
When will you test Metro Stetson? The only real disadvantages that Metro has compared to other T-Mobile MVNOs is that they tie the SIM to the device but they have improved their website and app to make the process of switching work much better than they used to and hotspot data isn't included in the BYOD $30 ($25 with autopay) plan but is easy enough to work around on Android devices to the point I would say that shouldn't matter for anyone not using an iPhone. You also have to port a number to get the BYOD plan but that's not really something that should be an issue. Metro has an online activation portal for devices that support eSIM even and people can pick up a $10 SIM card at Walmart and use the activation portal too instead of having to deal with stores. No activation fees when signing up online.
I would say most people with decent T-Mobile coverage would be happier with Metro's BYOD plan than Visible basic since T-Mobile's network doesn't tend to suffer as much during congestion and Metro has access to some of T-Mobile's roaming partners. There is even a $10 per month HD addon which means when Visible finally kills off HD streaming on Visible+ 1.0 (it's already gone on 2.0 and they've said that it was never supposed to exist on Visible+ 1.0 either and will be fixed), for $35 a month on Metro, people can get unlimited data and HD streaming. Customer service is definitely better on Metro, especially if you would like to not have to chat with people, since you can just call 611.
I've had Metro since July and I've had service issues exactly zero times (I lost service when trying to transfer my eSIM between devices but after it happened a second time I realized it was just the Samsung eSIM issue, I never hear about it happening with other devices and transferring from my Samsung to my Pixel always worked, so I don't blame Metro for this as I see people having problems with eSIM on Samsung devices on other carriers too). Contrast that to Visible, which I've tried both basic and Visible+ multiple times over the years, and every single time there are issues. Whether it comes down to being unable to check out when signing up (has happened twice), losing 5G access (happened to me in December and required me to switch phones to fix it), having unusable data on the basic plan during severe congestion, having to make a new email address because they have blocked the use of Gmail aliases (which really just pushes me to use a temp mail service and a virtual card number I can just cancel to end my service), their app failing to provision the device properly, or the ineptitude of customer service, Visible is just a real headache to deal with.

Very helpful info. I'd love to know if you have info about what to do when you live in a dead zone. With both AT&T and T-Mobile, we have to use a microcel (I think that's what you call it) in order for our cell phones to work at all as we have less than one bar cellular service and there are no plans to add towers in our area. I'd love to pay less than the $45/month we pay T-Mobile, but do these chaper provders work with one?

Surprised you didn’t mention consumer cellular especially for family plans. They have been offering 2 lines for $65 then $15 a line after that up to 10 lines. Also for additional lines you add they are giving you the first 3 months for $1. Code is “3Months” per their site. You get 50 GB of 5G data then it does crawl to like 550kb after that. Helium has a plan to for $20 a month on the TMO network. They give you 35 gb data before slowing you down. Maybe something to add to the lineup here. There are so many variables yet most plans are very close to each other. Makes it stressful lol.

Thanks for sharing this incredible content. One thing to consider in your future video is which MVNO throttles 5G download speed and which gives you non-throttled access to the backbone carrier's network. For example, what makes US Mobile(Their Warp 5G plan, which uses Verizon network) truely standout is they gives customer untrottled Verizon mmWave and c-band 5G access, I personally tested it in Denver downtown peaked at 3Gbps+ download! Other MVNO marketing their plan as "unlimited" or "5G" but caps the speed, i.e. H2O Wireless(AT&T) throttls 5G download speed at 70mbps as of late 2023 (I quited and switched to US Mobile, I doubt if things had changed since, they even throttle 4G LTE speed to 8mbps, yes a pathetic 8mbps! between 2017-2020s before 5G widely available in the US).

Just a thought when you give recommendations for family plans. Perhaps make two suggestions for small vs large families. In my case we have 7 lines, so even pointing out the cost per line above X number of lines can help. It's the only reason we've stayed with T-Mobile so long, since the lines reached a point of only being $20 each.
