I completed the original version in 1998. Definitely the best Star Ocean in the series.
I've completed the 1998 and 2009 several times! It's time for the remake all over again but better.
Every Star Ocean after 2 was a let down. Interestingly enough, Tales of Arise feels more like Star Ocean to me then anything Square has put out in over 2 decades.
@@gunguntrio1247 I tried playing Tales of Arise on PS4, but ended up abandoning it. Kinda boring. Ys 9, too. The worst Ys I’ve ever played. And I’ve played them all.

I could cry... I'm so happy they did this. This was my favorite game as a child. I can't wait to experience that sense of wonder and awe all over again as an adult.

If you do play the OG play the psp port they did. There was a bit of quality of life changes they did

@@jeffcox6539 If you are fine with still portraits in games for years, then nothing will change that. So it depends if you are used to this.
is the composer still Motoi Sakuraba? cause he has his own music signature and by the glimpse, i think its him
@@Insigniaxhonkai He was the original composer, i see no reason to not use the original soundtrack. It is still amazing even now.
Day one buy. I loved this game back on PS1
it was also on the snes in Japan and is still the best star ocean game to date this remake was requested for years by fans of it
I loved the original but I'm going to wait for a review before getting this. Square isn't the same as they used to be and I have concerns that they may mess this up somehow. We'll just have to wait and see.

SO2 is my most favourite star ocean game.
One of my absolute favorite RPGs of all time... that I never beat. I'm glad they're remastering this again especially of it has bonus content
It's worth playing multiple times because of multiple endings and characters that you recruit throughout. Also, each character has relationship points, so you might end the game with two of your party members having a romantic ending or friendship or whatever. It's really intricate.
One of my favorite games of all time. Never knew there was a remake coming. Really looking forward to enjoying this gem of a game all over again.

@@demonlordotrt754 Right. My hope is if they make a new Valkyrie game, that they keep it closer to its roots, opposed to the borish and clearly sacrificial lamb direction they've gone with Elysium.

@@LostChildOfTime Elysium seems to have suffered the same fate as Integrity and Faithlessness, can only hope the next time will be worth it.

Agreed, the backgrounds look so beautiful I just wish the sprites got the same treatment. They can stay 2d I just wish they were remade as well but with hd textures.

@@IronCactuar Fair enough, I think the ideal scenario would be to have both. HD sprites that look more like the current artwork & than the old school ones for nostalgia's sake.
The camera angles and scenes just make the game POP in a way I never thought possible...
Not only the best star ocean in the series it's also motoi sakuraba's best.
Def a phenomenal OST but I think that Tales of Destiny's OST rivals it.

I am overwhelmingly hyped for this game. but im going to miss those old voices. I hope they have an option for the old voices, even if the quality is subpar.
Dias's original voice actor Erik Bergmann was literally perfect for him
Also to add to this, I saw in one of the trailers that it showed music type and voice type and it showed the option as "SO2SE" so maybe we can select classic music and voices as well as remastered or arranged music

Finally get to experience what fighting Gabriel (Indalecio) without his power limiter is like. Cause I know me, and I never skip PAs unless they cost you affinity points, so I know I'll be viewing Phillia's events.

Still have my original copy, complete in box. I LOVE STAR OCEAN 2!!!!!!! I wish it had the OG voices, but it was but a pipe dream. Buying this day 1. Let's reignite Star Ocean series and I hope this game sells TONS.
The Japanese version does feature original Japanese PS1 version voice actors recording new voice lines though ... Probably too difficult for the English version

Xenogears definitely, its second disc gameplay cut short, it felt like a visual novel. Didn't do enough justice for such complex game.

I hope all of the item crafting and randomness works the same way. It was so fun to cheese this game by going to Mars and stealing the box from that one person and then saving your game so you could open it over and over until you get a WAY OP weapon super early in the game.
