That’s how you know Adolph Caesar was a great actor. If an actor is able to make a character so believable that you hate that character’s guts like they were a flesh and blood real person, you know that actor did a great job.

A Soldier Story is one of my favorite movies. The story was compelling and it kept me glued to the screen. He was also good in the Color Purple a real hot mess. He was an amazing actor.

But, most of us would have liked to seen how far his career would have taken him.

I've always been fascinated and greatly entertained by his performance in The Color Purple. My favorite line is when he said, "The dead have come to life " talking about Sofia. He actually said many good one liners in The Color Purple and A Soldiers Story. The Color Purple is my favorite movie of all time. Howard Rollins was impressive in A Soldiers Story also. And I won't leave out Denzel.
Theatre trained actors and actresses are excellent when they transition to tv and film. They bring that extra something to their roles. Thanks for doing a piece on him. His background is interesting and pictures of him as a young man is rare to see. He has an extensive acting resume that’s for sure. The Negro Ensemble Company kept many black actors and actresses working. RIP Adolph Caesar.

I watrched A Soldier's Story with a few guys from my army unit in 1986 or so. Adolph Caesar palyed a complex character, and protrayed Waters' anger at the system, both pride and self-loathing for having made a successful place within the corrupt system.

Adolph Caesar did many voice over commercials especially the blaxploitation movies of the 60's and 70's also the Silver Hawks cartoon. He did the Hot wing Silver Hawk .
My sister would see him in the Color Purple and say grandpop on tv when she was little. He looks like my grandfather when he was young. Charles Fuller is also my grandmother’s godson. She told everyone about this play for years. I think my mother still has the Playbill book from the merriam theatre where it played.
I saw "A Soldier's Story," and the film was powerful....

The day of the geechee Is over. Classic line from a soldier story. Even though Denzel Washington is in this movie, you have to see it for Adolf's performance. One of the best black movies directed by white man I have ever seen, a soldier story. If you have never seen this movie your blackcard needs to be Confiscated🤷🏿
