Nathan and Robin are absolute superstars in this film, but Hank Azaria as Agador is an undeniable delight in this.
But?
I know people love Azaria, but I still feel like he's incredibly underappreciated. The body of work he has is simply amazing
I thought it was Agador Spartacus?
My 🍉 watermeloness🤭
we agree to agree Hank should've been Oscar-nominated fur supporting and he would've won..."It's de shoes!" His best performance he'll never top.
Nathan Lane should've won an oscar for this role
Leading. In this day and age, he would have been at least nominated. I know he received GG and SAG noms
Agreed. I laughed my ass off for like more than half of the film 🤣 He’s a Brilliant Actor
He didn't win an Oscar for this brilliant performance?!
His reaction to "i made you short?" Kills me everytime 😄
I totally agree with you dear
When he gets into the car and screams gets me every time.
Alex Lawton that’s one of my favorites! 😂
Alex Lawton I almost laugh to I cry!
My favourite part of the film 😂😂😂
The toast piercing and the Pirin tablets are the two scenes that get me the most.
Me tooo!!!!!!! I used to imitate that to my mom all the time!
I can´t believe that Nathan Lane didn´t win an Oscar even a Nomitanion for this role!!
javier bermejo this is a really really good movie!!!
I had a nomitanion for breakfast this morning. Great with cream cheese.
What about Robin? Seriously I can't believe he wasn't gay after watching this.
Gay characters didn't get Oscars in the mid 90s unless they were tragic. Like... dying from AIDS.
I quite agree. I've heard a number of people say his performance as a queen was cliche. Well, all I could say to that is that I have known quite a few queens who would disagree. I think his performance is finely nuanced and balanced. I see a full human being there.
And in these 2 hours I fell head over heels for Nathan Lane. He is sooooo good that you can see this film 500 times and he will make you laugh EVERY DAMN TIME
Nathan lane floored me away with this performance. I love when an actor can do this, it is what acting is all about. Those that get the perfect role. Others are Merly Streep, Kathy Bates
Nathan lane is good in anything he does....
I've tested this theory and it's true! 🤣🤣
Nathan Lane is the best, sadly is so underrated in Hollywood.
Love him.
Nathan lane you are an awesome actor and an awesome person, love you to pieces buddy 😊❤️🙏✌️😎
Ikr. Plus, he plays Max Bialystok in the Producers remake. He's oober talented.
We have the same birthday.
Can't forget Nathan as Timon in Lion King and he was awesome in Win a Date with Tad Hamilton too.
@@azvascos7542and Gomez Addams in the original cast for the musical
Albert - "I'm this short, fat, middle-aged THING!!" Armand - "I made you SHORT??" My favorite exchange in the movie - always cracks me up!!
Me too. So many great lines in this movie.
And the pirin tablets… it’s my all time favourite film…
Mine too! Absolutely brilliant!
Rumor is when the director told Robin Williams that is Nathan lane was his co-star Robin replied "Nathan Lane really he's perfect."
Lol robin williams couldve done it as well lol !
It says how great he is, that he can stand up to rw as his costar
"No good?"
"Actually, it's perfect. I just never realized John Wayne walked like that."
Too funny walk... and after that I wet myself in the cinema.
Possibly movie's best line!
He really do be walking like that
Nathan Lane was a genius in this... and Robin Williams shows his genius in being able to perfectly play off of him.
"I'm leaving you my stero."
"No."
"My red boots."
"I don't wanna 'em."
"And my wigs."
"Which ones?" XD
"My best wigs."
“Weesh weegs”
"Sweetie, you're wasting your gum"
tuesdaytuesdaytuesda try more gum lol
That line gets me every time I hear it
@@hughjackmannut I like bridal gown and the bridesmaids' dresses in the ending scene, they look a helluva lot prettier than those seen in other movies.
I adore Nathan Lane. He's adorable, can sing and act and is hilarious. Happy vibes are always good.
Hank Azaria steals some of these scenes. They're all so over the top flamboyant it's what makes this movie funny to me
+Trent Buckingham Can i take your purse as usual, or, for the first time. lol!
I'm back
Trent Buckingham and it’s what makes me most annoyed.
if I heard this right but when Hank Azaria watched the playback of his role he said something along the lines of this, "Oh my God, I sound like my Peruvian Grandma' Or along the lines.
I find it hard to believe that the voice of Homer Simpson ever was attached to such a fit body. total cognitive dissonance.
The CONSTANT screaming is HILARIOUS.
I went to high school with Nathan Lane in Jersey City. This is one of the funniest movie's of all time.
Nathan Lane not nominated in this for an Oscar is a travesty.
I really believe so too
I couldn't agree more. Perfect comedic timing. His expression of dismay at the "robbed" apartment is one of the funniest things I've *ever* seen. But, then again, the "Oscars" have tended to overlook comedy, ever since "It Happened One Night"
I see wat u did there travesty
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Albert Goldman is my spirit animal.
No matter how many times I watch this movie it never gets old. You know it's a classic when you remember most/all quotes.
It's even more relevant today.
With all the stuff that is going on in Florida and this movie is set in Florida.
Just Nathan Lane screaming for five straight minutes. 🤣🤣🤣 “I pierced the toast!” I can’t stop laughing.
0:07 Nathan sure gives high-pitched screams a face. This part Always cracks me up. Rest in Peace, Robin Williams, you will forever be missed and remembered forever.
+lotten1992 Second only to Oliver Feld, really. That man can do the best girly screams.
Atheneastro No offense, but no idea who that is.
German voice actor.
Atheneastro Okay, thanks
it sounds just like the sheep that screams like a man xD
This is one of the funniest movies ever. The cast was perfect and Nathan Lane is a genius.
When I worked with Gene Hackman, we talked about his role and he winked about it. I know how much fun he had.
He was so good in this. Really the entire cast was amazing, but Gene playing it for laughs was a revelation. Who knew he could do comedy?
Nathan Lane and Robin Williams were such a perfect on screen match. Their comedic and endearing chemistry was off the charts
HOW could they skip the scene where Albert dons a business suit and tries to act straight? Nathan is wonderful.
One wants a bit of color...
The. Best. Scene. In. The. Movie. Period.
It was funny but also very disrespectful. And Val was being so ungrateful.
@@paulwagner688 His pink socks actually looked AWESOME with that black suit.
@@paulwagner688 lol
"Albert, you pierced the toast. Soooooo, what?"
You're right! There's no need to get hysterical, all I have to remember is that...I can always get more toast!!!
“I pierced the toast!”
My mother loved this line.
Can't get enough of Nathan Lane. That man and his facial expressions are one of a kind
Heartbroken about Robin Williams, but still laughed out loud at the "I PIERCED THE TOAST!" line, my favorite line in the entire movie. Now I'll go watch Dead Poets Society...
CARPE DIEM!!!!
haha agreed on the pierced the toast part
metro121482
"the important thing is not to go to pieces when that happens."
O Captain, My Captain
metro121482 Mike Nichols was laughing so hard while filming that scene, they had to cover his face with a pillow.
The wonderful Nathan Lane, Robin Williams and Hank Azaria - at the top of their game. A real instance of where the re-make ('The Birdcage') received greater critical and public acclaim than the original French version ('La Cage Aux Folles")
I agree with you the orignal was fantastic they did a wonderful job they picked people that were extremely manly drama profesional play people as armond and Albert. My only problem with the orignal is the son is like 18 getting married
@@mckennalester2248 It was more common to marry younger back then. Some got married even younger.
Nathan Lane’s performance is PERFECT!
Absolutely HYSTERICAL film and JUST as BRILLIANT.
This is one of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen!
"How bout those dolphins?" Gets me every time! 4:31
HIS FACE IS EVERYTHING ^-^
Victoria M I agree! Every time I see that scene, I can't help but laugh! How much do I LOVE Nathan Lane?!
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Nathan steals it. RIP Robin.
It's too bad there's no compilation for Armand. Robin Williams was a genius, but his character had such wit. One of my favorite lines was when Albert was about to leave and was being very dramatic, and referencing the large crucifix that had been brought in during the redecorating, Armand says "Shouldn't you be carrying the cross? It is *the* prop for martyrs" lol
AAAAAARMAND!!..DID YOU SEE WHAT HE JUST DID????
Yeah, this is five years too late...but there is an Armand Goldman compilation now!
ruclips.net/video/gIpc02Zpct4/видео.html
Or just the closeup of his eyes when Nathan lane shows up as a woman
Just because your young and hung . Lol 😆
@@HappyGoof4 Thanks for that. Loved it!
“Chewing gum helps me think.” “Honey, you’re wasting your gum.” I ❤️ Nathan Lane in this. RIP Robin Williams. 💕 Thanks for the laughs.
What's funny is Nathan was still "in the closet" at this point, yet he played flamboyant like a pro.
It was probably a milestone for him personally. I don't think he's like Albert in real life, but to be able to go to that part of him and really amplify it must have been quite liberating.
Is Nathan gay and out in real life?
@@AT-st5dr Yes he is.
When he told his mother, she said: "I would rather you be dead." His response? "I knew you would understand." LOL! :)
I read that in another comment section!
Robin Williams knew and did all he could to keep it secret because Nathan wasn't comfortable coming out publicly.
He said on a recent interview that he had been out since he was 21, but didn't want to talk about it on Oprah and have any attention taken away from the movie.
Everyone knew that he was gay anyway.
OH GOD I PIERCED THE TOAST!
“Chewing gum helps me think.”
Sweetie, you’re wasting your gum.
The best of Albert is the whole film.
"he was obviously framed. And I for one, would like an autopsy!" "That's just what Rush Limbaugh said" 😆😆😆
"He blew a bubble with his gum while I was singing. He can't do that while I'm SINGING!!!!" Rofl!!! Gets me every time! I would react the same. XD I wouldn't want someone blowing a bubble in MY face. >:(
No matter how many times I have watched this movie he cracks me up SO hard, I'm talking tears running down my face, I have to use my inhaler laughing.
😂😂
I don't know how his co-stars got through it. I would have had to do a million retakes and probably get fired for laughing.
He is my favorite character he is hilarious
Just an excellent work in terms of acting and writing and directing making one hilarious movie; even my dad and his girlfriend had never seen the movie and when they first saw it they were hollering with laughter, one of the movies I put on anytime I need gut busting laughter(even in college, everyone loved it as well)
OMG Nathan Lane should really an Oscar for this. This movie didn’t get the credits that I believe that they should have. It’s a masterwork
“When the schnecken beckons” 😄
Anyone else think that the screaming goat stole Albert's scream??? 0:07
That's an Oscar performance right here
***** ???
***** עם ישראל חי.
whats happening???
video on top on your comment??... the video its about the movie birdcage... i dont get in what moment someone say anything about Israel thats why i ask you...
im not trolling!!!! ploni said " thats an oscar performance right there" and you say " fuck israel" ... and i was like wtf?? thats why ive said what was happening!!! what did i star???
Nathan was hilarious 😂😂😂, his scream, his John Wayne walk lol 😂😂😂
"Well.. not tiny" is the best part
Ladies and Gentlemen, The One and Only, Nathan Lane
When I hear him I hear Timon
GREATEST COMEDY OF ALL TIME
mathieu lol Yes I know:; saw play in Hollywood as well back in late 70's & early 80's :)
mathieu lol Awwwww :)
That as well as "The Jerk", "Some Like it Hot", and "Mrs. Doubtfire".
We still watch this about once a month, laughs throughout the entire movie.
God he is bloody HILARIOUS. I want to watch the film now tbh.
It's on Netflix
kaitlan christinna I stole the film from my aunty the other day. XD. Lol.
"Sweetie you're wasting your gum" LOL!
call me crazy but i think nathan lane is a cutie here.
He's always cute! Wonderful comic actor:)
i know. i was talking about his looks though.
He looks like Seth macfarlane in that pink shirt
Not crazy in the slightest!
Hes cute, period
Forgot how damn funny this film is. Time for a rewatch.
I love Nathan Lane! So wonderful!
„You are right.
There is no need to get hysterical.
All I have to remember is that I can get more toast.“
My favorite movie of all time. The entire cast is fabulous 💖💖
Every Time this movie comes on I watch it. Cant seem to skip over it.
Sign of a great movie right there; just as long as it’s not the tv edited version
He said'
I Don't really drink, the maid said "Now is a good time to pretend" hahahahaha
I had just seen this movie like a month ago. About a week later I leaned into my car to grab something and I leaned on the horn by accident. It didn't scare me at all but what came to mind was Albert screaming when he hit the horn. So just for the hell of it I screamed too and then of course I busted out laughing :D God forbid anyone saw me lol
I literally do the same thing!’
Albert and Agador made the whole movie❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️my fav movie ever EVER I can't say how many times I've watched because I watch every time I want it ❤️
Nathan Lane completely stole the show and was superb every moment on screen ❤️💛💙
comic genius
Watching this, all compiled, continuously, it's glaring how amazing Nathan Lane truly is!
"Look at me. I'm this short, fat, insecure, middle-aged, thing!"
"I made you short?
*AAAAAAAAHH!!" *passes out*
XXDDDD
Still absolutely hilarious, even in clips.
Nathan lane is amazing in this movie and he should have an Oscar. He is an amazing actor and it does not matter what movie he's in he will always make me laugh in this movie or in any other movie he's in.
Good ol' Nathan Lane! He's been my favorite actor since I was 8. I LOOVVEE his work in this movie! 3
One of my favorite comedic film of all time! I’ve watched it a gazillion times and it gets me to laugh hysterically time after time. All of these actors deserved Oscars!!!!!!!!
This is my absolute FAVORITE movie... I need an Albert in my life!🤣💁🏻♂️🏳️🌈
Robin Williams AND Nathan Lane!! This movie is GOLD!!!
I never get tired of this movie and Nathan Lane is best at his craft. Aloha from Honolulu, Hawaii
"OH GOD I PIERCED THE TOAST"
I frigging love this movie so much XD
All I hear is Genie and Timon argue back and forth
One of the 90s best! What a great cast! RIP Robin there will never be another 🥀
R.I.P Robin williams,a comedy genius.
Genie-us
NOw, is it "Goldman" or "Coleman" -- "Actually, we don't know where we are till we hear our name pronounced", ha, ha! LOVE this movie!!
“Goldman with a silent D” 😂😂😂
Cole of the Isle of Mann
I’m hysterical here 🤣
“Sweetie, you’re wasting your gum”.
Oh my - the shade, the SHADE!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Nathan Lane is one of my favorite actors ever
This is a movie that deserved a sequel. I don’t care if it wouldn’t have been great as long as it was good and I got Nathan Lane and Robin Williams working side-by-side.
Missed the part where he goes in to vals room to collect his laundry, extremely touching
OMG... my friends and I quote this movie so much and you pretty much captured ALL of the key quotes! Good work!
Nathan lane was genius in this movie.
Thanks Albert for gift your talent to us, and make more happyness our lifes !
0:56 Who Agrees He Is Oscar Worthy For Best Actor
Nathan Lane is awesome. What a great actor. Hank Azaria is also one in a million and under rated big time.
2018 and I’m watching it on Starz Encore channel. Yippee! One of my all-time faves and one of the funniest. Hank Azaria and Nathan Lane. 🤣 Even Gene Hackman was a lovable conservative.
When I watched this, I closed my eyes and pictured these lines being read by Timon.
Timon and the genie
I never get bored with these 2 thank you guys for all the laughs!
Almost forgot to watch today. Sometimes I sit in my car during work break and need a quick smile so I play this video! 🤣🤣🤣
I need my Pirins...
oh god I havent seen this in years and now I'll have to see it again soon...ohhh so bloody funny
The John Wayne walk 😂
No one could have ever performed this role but him, no one!!
"I'm quite aware of how ridiculous I am." 😂😂😂
BIRDCAGE over and over and over AgAin!
"Oh my god!!!!... I pierced the toast" XD this movie is hilarious
i got in a sentimental drunk mood...yall know how those are! This pulled me right out and had me laughing!
Same.
It’s getting to the point where I’m watching clips of this movie every week.
