I'm sure most of the cast felt the same for Aldas self righteous hollier than thou character.

I always thought Alda was Way over-rated. More silly than funny.
I never thought that Allen Alda wasn't any better than any of the actors.
Who's Allen Alda? Is that's Alan's father?
He never thought much about you either.
If Alda had his way…mash would be the Alan Alda show
That's a strawman argument which is fallacious reasoning....now try again using your brain.
Certainly not true. He always was generous and rarely selfish.
@@ralphromeo7066Wayne Rogers might disagree.
I don't know about that but I think M.A.S.H. got worse when Alda started directing episodes. He forgot it was a sitcom and made stuff too serious. ETA, I posted before I watched the video so when the narrator said "until it ceased being humorous" I thought that was funny.
I sure did cry when Henry died.
Oh man me to I watch reruns and still cry
Alan Alda is the only person to win an Emmy for writing, acting, directing
I recently interviewed Mike Farrell and he spoke in glowing terms of nearly every cast member.
I enjoyed seasons 1-4 then it nose dived badly to become the Alan Alda show.
Focusing on one character wrecked it and McLean Stevenson left for far better money.
He had domestic issues to sort out and the money did that.
I can think that cast members and crew didn’t like his self righteous behavior.
But you don't know that, you're speculating while assuming that if you dislike aspects about Alan Alda then certainly the cast and crew did ass well...which is fallacious thinking on your part...and since the show went on for 11 years and left the air waves on its own, I'm guessing there weren't too many unhappy people on the show, past or present.
Seems to me that just about everyone in the show did just fine for themselves, and isn't it amazing that despite the several cast changes, the one constant, Alan Alda, remained and the show kept moving forward...that says a lot about his talent and what the general viewing public thought about M*A*S*H at that time.
I don't know. After awhile I quit watching because i got tired of Alan Alda's need to be the center of everything. @moonytheloony6516

And how many people hated working with him?
I think Ron Howard had done American graffiti when he appeared in MASH
nope, his appearance on M*A*S*H was before "American Graffiti".
@@johnbrennan4449 June 26, 1972 start date American Graffit took less then 30 days to film some how they took a year to show it but the mash show was S-01 E-17 Episode aired Jan 28, 1973
Sometimes You Hear the Bullet so he had long filmed American graffit but it did not show till August 1, 1973 if you lived in the right town so yes it did show first but he had already filmed American Graffit
@@jgold2813 TV shows are often filmed months in advance before being shown. actor Barton MacLane passed away on January 1st, 1969, yet his ghost was appearing in new episodes of "I Dream of Jeannie" during March of that year.
Alan Alda was the sour apple of MASH.
Some of the best moments in successful films , drama's and comedies have been totally ad libbed, talented actors should always be given a little leeway. MASH with the talent involved, no exception. A really great show, really popular here in the UK.
Alda wasn't the easiest person to work with .
I always agreed that Alan was attempting to force his personal points of view on the show, which seemed inappropriate as the setting of the Korean War was in a much earlier time. Alda’s views may have been more fitting for the Vietnam War era.
The Radar spinoff was only one episode a pilot that didn’t get picked up.
I liked MASH. Still watch MASH. I couldn't stand Alan Alda, or Mike Farrell.
I like Mash. It is one of my all-time favorites, but watching now, I like the older episodes with the original cast. It was funny. Larer episodes, especially after Charles came on the scene, became more and more about battling egos, which I don't find to be funny.
I wonder how the series would have been if “Rodger Bowen “ the original col. Blake in the M.A.S.H. The movie. His unflappability when confronted with trouble would have made a whole other comedy vibe to the series.
Have a great day!
The politics on a movie set are very different from those on an episodic television show. A movie is largely set in stone once it begins to be filmed. A television show is written week by week and season by season
There’s no business like show business.😊❤❤❤
Alan Alda is a bitter old man. It's great. He has become the person he openly despised on the show. What goes around, come around.
You would be the one I would hate to work with.
I feel the same about you, it wasn't always this way but since you stopped using deodorant...well...let's just say you took things too far. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Jackie: her?
There should be only one boss on the set. Second option be or be not be welcome!

Rogers and Farrell were also vets
His voice was. Onevery part of this show
Just couldn't watch mash for the snark
Everyone hated Alan Alda
Yep, they ruined a great show with all that serious crap. The last few years were not good.
The "serious crap" is what made it a good show.
@@kellysaderholm6741 For you, perhaps.
so who did he hate working with...it's not worth havin' to suffer...don't keep me in suspenders...🙄
I’m wondering that too.
Jackie Cooper the actor who worked as a producer or director on the show. He worked on the show in the earliest years. Lots of time on this spent on stuff you already know.
@@johnmcgreevey7795 Ahhh ok. Thanks so much for answering!
It's just a click-bait title. It's all made up or recycled stories about the show and the people who worked on it that you can read elsewhere. Nothing new here. Nothing to see, move along. (most egotistical actors "hate" anyone else who might also be talented and get attention. Everyone can see that Alan Alda is a great character actor , especially in this role as Hawkeye Pierce, but a nice person he isn't. Don't make the mistake of confusing the actor with the roles they play. Some actors who specialize in playing bad guys, thugs, killers are actually the nicest people you'd ever want to meet , and conversely some who play the leads and are presented on screen as the "good guy" are in reality jerks or worse ... the insecurities that drive some actors to be in the spotlight , to be the center of attention , is what makes them "stars" , but it's also a neurosis that causes very toxic behavior in real life.)
@@jeanandre4023 👌...G.T.K...thanx...
Alan drove me nuts. Won't watch the show.
Not that anyone will care, but thank you for sharing!
I prefer the original cast during the first 3 seasons.
Ur stupid... One of the best shows of all time
@@johnbrennan4449 movie version of Hotlips Houlihan, Sally Kellerman was better than Loretta Switt
Nobody gives a crap
I have always heard Alan's last name pronounced ALL-duh.
They lost the point that the movie and show was a comedy. When it started getting serious, it wasn’t as good. The quick wit and slaps that comedy was hilarious at first, but Alan and others forgot they had to make you laugh.
It was a tv show
To repeat story lines
Alda was a narcissist
I thought Alan and Loretta were the only original to remain in the show during its entire run.
Klinger and Fr Mulcahy
@@tbrown7662William Christopher wasn't in the first few episodes, another actor played a Priest. Can't remember the name though.
@@MorganOtt-ne1qj George Morgan played Father Mulcahy only in the pilot. I believe Alan Alda and Loretta Swit are the only actors who appeared in both the pilot and the series finale. William Christopher’s first appearance as Mulcahy came in the 3rd episode, and Klinger first appeared in the 4th. Klinger became a series regular in season 4, and Mulcahy in season 5.
Thanks for the info! I knew it wasn't William Christopher in the first few episodes, but I couldn't recall the name! 👍, My friend!
❤❤❤
Loved mash..and alda too
Okay. Starting off with a falacy ingenders trust in some circles, i am sure. MASH went off the air as the top show in ots timeslot. It did not wain in popularity. It was a show that ran for 11 seasons, covering a war that onlyblasted for 5 years.
Alan Alda ruined that show
MASH went on way too long, otherwise not bad, considering the quality of broadcasting back then...
Alda is a piss poor actor...i remember Alda and Carol Burnett playing lovers ...4 seasons i think...repulsive
Jackie Cooper gave his side of the story in his memoir more than 40 years ago, so it seems only fair to let Alan Alda present his.
The laugh track was actually a nice touch, almost humanizing in an ironic way, making the show less self-important.
❤

Rodger Bowen couldn't have done a better job as Colonel Blake than
McLean Stevenson. nobody could have. I prefer Blake over Potter (Harry Morgan), even though Blake only lasted 3 seasons to Potter's 8.
