One of the best Yamaha devices ever. There is nothing more versatile and its sound and possibilities are incredible. I get a lot of use out of mine and if I find another one cheap, I'll buy it!
Random Stuff The Point is he taking not because to sale ) he is loves people and music !! He is maker and human . It's very seldom in ours days. Human who has soul !! It's not about money! He's helps to understand an instrument!
After having this keyboard for 2 years now all I can say is this is one of the best ever!! I added the 80's and Guitar banks to recreate classic tunes and even 2 years later I'm hearing and learning new features on this. I currently own this board, a Yamaha PSR S950, Korg Krome, Korg Liverpool, and a Roland XP50. I was a big believer in Roland, but I am a big fan of Yamaha. If you're a musician like me, this is a great board to create with. 😊
Wow, this video took me a long time to find again. Late thanks for this video. Out of all the videos and research I did on the MOXF series, this one by far was the best and was one of the key factors in helping me make a decision. Thanks for a great demonstration.
Thank you for this demo. In my country there is a saying: "Bez starca nema udarca" (no one can hit you that good like an old guy). You said and explained all that one musician needs and wants to know about an instrument. God bless you!
I am sold!....60 year old re-beginner here.....played in a band 1970-1985...so different world back then.....thanks for the demo Mr. Phil, Mac in Boston
Wow, in 2024 and I just bought me one today, I'm stoked 😮 I had one years back and know how good they sound and how nice the keybed is. They sound even cleaner than on here, as they have a buzz throughout this whole recording.😮
Just picked mine up today, and this video was what sealed it for me. I think some of you were expecting something else, but I got a great deal from the video and am already enjoying the keyboard. Cudos, Phil. Hope to see another of your videos in the future. Thanks, Man!
This is the most comprehensive and easy to follow tutorial I have ever seen on any keyboard. I've not long purchased the 88 key version of the moxf8 and Phil is making it a dream to play, programme and record with. thank you sir! I hope Yamaha are looking after you well!;o)
Yeah agreed with some of your thoughts below, this guy Phil knows his stuff, and has given us a great preview of this unit's abilities. Looks exactly like what we need in our band to replace an ailing older Yamaha we have beat up for several years. Thanks for this video!
Thank you Phil for explaining the moxf in plain English. I have the moxf8 and have to say this is one of the best deals for the price. I was hesitating between this keyboard and the Roland Fa08. But finally I decided to go with the Yamaha. I surely am glad of choosing the moxf8. The keyboard rocks.
I have a Roland FA-06 and can tell you it's a great keyboard, the best I have ever owned. But after hearing this demonstration I have to get an MOXF6! This thing just sounds awesome and totally different than the Roland.
Phil (Bad Mister on the Yamaha forums) is a great player and programmer. I've been using Yamaha now for almost 15 years. I just switched to the MOXF 8 from the MOTIF XS8 (weight was the principal reason as I gig a lot and lugging 70+ pounds around on a regular basis was starting to wear thin on me). I've had a variety of different keys over the years but nothing even comes close to the Yamaha's. Thanks Phil for an informative vid as always!!
Many thanks, Phil! Terrific video as always!! I was waiting for a lighter keyboard to replace my Motif XS8 for gigging. I've ordered the MO XF8 which should arrive this week-end! We are all extremely grateful for the years of top class instruction that you have provided for keyboard players. Have a great New Year, Phil!
wow Phil Clendeninn is amazing on this yamaha makes me want one though my first is gonna be a casio I may have to switch up man your skills are up lifting encouraging I was getting ideals just watching and listening..... Thanks for sharing this video.....All who are positively creative inspire me ("
Sir, you are the master of your line of work. I hope you make more tutorials on the MOXF to explain it's deeper mysteries such as: what the heck is Master mode?
Favorites, whether they are individual voices, performances (layers and splits), or song/pattern mode, and place them in any order of convenience in the Master mode.
Nice demo! Ya even took it to my "Worship Center" with "A Remark You Made". Bought one a these and it is a very capable and light board. It's bomb with a weighted slate underneath.
Lovley video, lovley product, but, could you please pay attention to the background noice, almost like there is a ground faliure (short between line and earth) sry for my eng. :) and YES, i will buy Moxf8 within a week :)
thank you for your video, it was very helpful. I was wondering if you have any video instructing how to use the effects for the 3 band EQ to get full potential of sound on the MOFX6.
How do you enable the "pitch scoop" through velocity / assignable function button like he does at 11:00? If i press the key just right and very, very hard it will do it but only some of the time. Can this be adjusted at all?
I just read the official Yamaha specs, and it says the "remote controller functions" only work (for Windows) with Cubase 7 and Sonar. I use Presonus Studio One (and Notion). If you know, what WON'T I be able to do with the MOFX with Studio One? Since I want to get one of these primarily for composing and making mock-ups, this is something that I need to know. Thanks...
There's multiple uses for "synthesizers", Andrew. Yes, some people want to make new sounds. Some people need stock sounds for certain performances. Some people want a tool to help in song writing ( with backing instruments, which could be changed when the song is recorded.) While this synthesizer does not have every capability of every synth, it can do a lot. You have many stock analog waves onboard, as well as some FM type sounds, but you could also sample something to get any possible wave. Once you have waves you want, you have up to eight "oscillators", with the usual complement of envelopes for osc, filter and amp. You also have a huge number of effects. I don't see anyone exhausting that quickly, but the primary audience for this is not someone who's main goal is to make new sounds I think.
They have different purposes - the Roland is meant as a standalone unit and the Yamaha (which can do the same, though) is better used in combination with cubase which is included in the purchase. Both are great performance (on-stage) keyboards and for general purposes I'd take the moxf6 over the fa-06.
Phil I bought your DVD on the MOX which also applies to the MOXF, you are a great educator and I took notes - the learning curve on this keyboard is a little steep for me but I'll stick with it. Question for you - I see that most of the voices in voice mode have their own arpeggio patterns if you hit the arp on button. I like a lot of these arpeggio sounds in voice mode but don't know how to bring them into a recording say in pattern or song mode. Do you know how I could do this? Thanks for your knowledge.
I have a number of sounds from Native Instruments, such as mellotrons, Absynth patches etc, and want to know if these samples can be installed in flash rom on this board (?).
I wanna know about the most important thing on moxf6 or moxf8. That is "How does he decreased the lcd brightness"?????? There is not the lcd brightness menu. There is only contrast menu. At night I can't play mox8 because lcd is too bright.
Well, I don't know what to tell you. There is no brightness control. I guess either adjust the contrast to darken, put something over the screen, play only during the day, or wear sunglasses. Seriously though, I don't know.
Thanks for possible solutions. The thing is I don't like wearing any accessory on my body. Further I already put sth over the screen, but the brightness of the LCD on moxf8 is too powerful, and as you know there is no adjustment menu at all.
Is it possible to connect a second midi controller keyboard via midicontroll and assign instruments from the moxf6 to knobs and faders of the midicontroller to switch between them and controlling their volume via midi control?
I need help. I bearly bought the yamaha moxf8 but does not have some of those pianos like the "Jazz Piano" or the "Worship Piano" and others you have right there, what do i have to do !?
hi ve been trying to change my 1stereoRec in utility mode and its not changing. also my emote has stop workin im guesing this has something to do with the mo flash.i tried setting the keyboard to start inpower mode voice GM and autoOff off. it always resets to factory set.can you help me please
this is a great video but omg you mentioned the effects/delay and how awesome they are but DIDN'T SAY HOW TO ADJUST THE PARAMETERS OF THEM!!!! how does one go about using effects on the moxf6 to their full potential???
Since I highly doubt Phil or the person that uploaded this video will ever answer this, I'll give you my opinion. MOXF6 blows the Kross out of the water. You can't really compare the MOXF though to the Kross and get a fair deal. The Kross is what? $700? The Moxf6 $1,200. Huge difference there both in cost and performance\features. If you're just starting out and want something to learn on, then I would say the Kross since if you can even look that low on a board and consider it, then maybe that's all you need. If you're more experienced and able to "actually use" some of the available options (most people don't even get under the hood on most keyboards and I mean use the features, know the functions, not at all about your ability to play), then I'd say the MOXF6. Personally, I was comparing the MOXF8 to the Korg Krome 88, but again, you can't compare the moxf the the kross since that's too different. Compare it to the Korg Krome 61 ($999) since that's a much more fair match. After months of consideration and after spending decades with Korg, I decided on the Moxf8. I have a video that shows my test of the Korg Krome 88, and very briefly touch the 61. Sadly there were no MOXF's in the store, but no regrets at all. One final thought to help explain what I meant about "actually use". I'd say my playing ability is above average, and it was also back when I bought my Korg Triton Pro 76. BUT, that new Korg leaned up against my wall for a couple years after I got it and I continued to play my Roland RD 500. Why? Because it was my first workstation in decades and didn't understand anything at all. None of the terms even made sense and the manual might as well had been in an alien language. Eventually I made projects for myself to slowly learn more about how to take advantage of what it had to offer, but that cost me $3,700 back when it first came out and was a dumb move on my part due to ignorance and compulsion shopping, haha. Lastly, it's all about what you want. I still have and use my Triton so I was in the market for a new 88 weighted board to replace my Roland. Acoustic piano and feel were the main deal with me so the MOXF8 won. If I were buying my board based on wanting "Synth" sounds, then the Krome would have won easily since the UI I find much better and am very used to it, not to mention that the Krome 76 key version is the same price as the MOXF 61. In that case too though, I certainly wouldn't want an 88 weighted board (well, not for piano) ;) Hope that makes sense and helps.
Not all of the sounds are new. It has many more to choose from, matching the Motif XF sound bank now. And the MOXF has flash memory as an option, allowing sampling and storage of samples internally on board. And there are a number of other added and improved features.
thank you very much. can you also edit and save sounds in internal bank without buy the expansion board? the usb port is just for midi/audio or you can connect a pen drive or hard disk to charge sample?
00DirectorsCut00 Yes you can save to the internal memory. They call it User Memory. And it has an audio/midi USB interface to communicate to your computer DAW. Also it has a USB flash drive connector to save samples and more.
One of the best Yamaha devices ever. There is nothing more versatile and its sound and possibilities are incredible. I get a lot of use out of mine and if I find another one cheap, I'll buy it!

I just bought this, and your video was a game changer. I’ve been playing on half-broken pieces of crap my whole life, so this has been invaluable.🤙🙏
Wow, in 2024 and I just bought me one today, I'm stoked 😮 I had one years back and know how good they sound and how nice the keybed is. They sound even cleaner than on here, as they have a buzz throughout this whole recording.😮

Phil, your video convinced me to buy one. Thanks.
carpproductions you know thats the thing i was looking for to say about him!!! LOL!! Kinda convinced me to move from Korg to my favorite Yamaha!
Always awesome, Phil! The piece at 28 minutes was unbelievably unbelievable!
Yeah agreed with some of your thoughts below, this guy Phil knows his stuff, and has given us a great preview of this unit's abilities. Looks exactly like what we need in our band to replace an ailing older Yamaha we have beat up for several years. Thanks for this video!

Jorge Ramirez I am choosing between this two keyboards right now

Phil, awesome presentation. You are a knowledgeable man. Enjoyed your playing.
Excellent demonstrator, well done!

Best Yamaha Review Ever! Cool knowledgeable guy.
Now I really want to buy this keyboard! Thanks for a fantastic demo.
Very in-depth. Phil takes the guesswork out of this Yamaha synth. This will be my next keyboard purchase.

Fantastic. I have one on order from Sweetwater
I like this man - He sounds and looks like a REAL musician ! BTW my 1st synth had only 1 OSC + 1 Voice so I get to the respected 1st place :-)
Fantastic demo!

Just got mine and I love it!
Very informative. Thank you.
REALLY enjoyed this demo Sir! And I'm a guitarist! Haha
Good demo!
This is a fantastic demo. I have a MOXF8. How does one get the S700 piano on there?
I have this board thinking about trading it in to montage i did miss the sliders
Olá sou do Brasil, gostaria de saber se tem prestes pro moxf q n necessitam de memória flash
Where do you download samples like the "Oh yeah baby" he shows at 26:20?
Can it make other sounds apart from the typical piano and synth sounds? For instance, does it have sitar?
more than the keyboard, I like how grandpa shows it off :P
Dig the Bobby McFerrin improv!! :-)
..on ya Phil, your sales patter is as good as your music skills :-)
I bought one.
I like it!
How do you enable the "pitch scoop" through velocity / assignable function button like he does at 11:00? If i press the key just right and very, very hard it will do it but only some of the time. Can this be adjusted at all?
Great job as usual and I needed this information. I am buying this keyboard right away.
Joseph Saulsbuty
What is the key bed like as far as feel and action? Great demo, I think I prefer this over my Korg Krome
I just read the official Yamaha specs, and it says the "remote controller functions" only work (for Windows) with Cubase 7 and Sonar. I use Presonus Studio One (and Notion). Nice. I love the sample part. Thks!
does this keyboard have the same sounds as the MOTIF XF6? or less
that sample of the muppets. and the bobby Mc ferrin .... DOOOOPE!!!!
May i know which model of monitor speaker in this demo...Thx
This guy knows his stuff. More from him, Yamaha.
Phill how do you add sounds on the moxf 6
I know it's not weighted action, but what's the keybed feel? The MX61 felt cheesie to me.
Hello sir great video.
I owned this keyboard u mentioned about free flash board , how to apply for it??
omg what is the sample at 28:00? Hilarious!!! Thank you for the demonstration. Very helpful.
i dilemma on going to buy this model Yamaha Moxf6 or Roland Fa06. need suggestion and idea
They have different purposes - the Roland is meant as a standalone unit and the Yamaha (which can do the same, though) is better used in combination with cubase which is included in the purchase. Both are great performance (on-stage) keyboards and for general purposes I'd take the moxf6 over the fa-06.
One thing makes me upset. I don't know, how to change a name of new pattern. Some explanation how to do this, please?
Phil I bought your DVD on the MOX which also applies to the MOXF, you are a great educator and I took notes - the learning curve on this keyboard is a little steep for me but I'll stick with it. Question for you - I see that most of the voices in voice mode have their own arpeggio patterns if you hit the arp on button. My MOXF8 does not sound as close to your full concert grand piano sound. mine sounds muffled and sounds more electronic so i don't know what's wrong.
Is it still possible to buy the flash board and get it free with rebates?
That's not a problem. It's a matter of assigning midi channels and continuous controllers, but it will work. Good Luck.
Amazing presentation 😅
Phil is a Great. Bert has only to learn from him...
Lovin' that Steely Dan 5:38
Nice Wurli sound, to play Supertramp.
Please help me I need to know how to change the pedal settings because I want to put the pedal on reverse mode
Bad Mister rocks!!!!
Is there a way to change which voice the keyboard starts on? Mine currently starts on MOX sound, but I would like for it to auto grand piano
awesome!!!!!!
this is a great video but omg you mentioned the effects/delay and how awesome they are but DIDN'T SAY HOW TO ADJUST THE PARAMETERS OF THEM!!!! how does one go about using effects on the moxf6 to their full potential???
I sure hope Phil is still with Yamaha !
hi. does this synth start playing in synch with a daw/pc/logic ? thanks in advance
Got it Vocal Harmony???
Can someone tell me what flash card he’s talking about. I want to get it but what is called?
Phil knows the Motif series probably better than the designers!
Hi ! Nice vid :)
Now, I'm hesitating between two keyboards. MOXF6 or Kross ? Please help me & tell me why if possible...
Thanks a lot ! :)
Personally, I was comparing the MOXF8 to the Korg Krome 88, but again, you can't compare the moxf the the kross since that's too different.
In that case too though, I certainly wouldn't want an 88 weighted board (well, not for piano) ;)
Hope that makes sense and helps.
Very true sir we talking about motif XF power engine in here right? kross cant realy be compared to the moXF, no way jose no way
I finally bought a MOXF8 :) I didn't saw that very instructive and beautiful comment, sry for the late response :x You are right :)
Time Out oF Mind!
How do I get the sounds from the motif xf8?
Tech Hybrid I was referring to trying to understand the flash concept. And how one could not have the keyboard but still get the sounds.
it has new sounds or are the same of mox?
Not all of the sounds are new. It has many more to choose from, matching the Motif XF sound bank now. And the MOXF has flash memory as an option, allowing sampling and storage of samples internally on board. And there are a number of other added and improved features.
