This was one of your BEST reactions and after discussions Rodrigo. Not only with this crew, all included. I really love their focus and deep analysis. One might think the aftertalk for this exceptional episode could be longer but they've quickly and fully touched all possible topics this episode presents that it didn't even feel necessary to extend it further. You're also the best guide as always but even without you, they keep helping each other too see details and to digest the necessary themes and emotions, which makes this crew extra special. No disrespect to your previous teammates, I loved all of them, which is why I've always been here, but I'm getting an extra special vibe from this squad.

This is a really special episode, it goes deep in Sawyer's character and also Chrsitian. I love all the boar metaphore, the drama in Sawyer's past and the interactions on island.

I remember really not being sure whether 'James' was his real name or not. Sawyer could just be doing what we've seen Kate do in her flashbacks but, equally, he might have wanted to use his real name because the situation was so important to him. It might not feel as rewarding to get your revenge under a fake name.
Very solid episode with so many really special moments.

Sawyer doesn't just hoard items, like stuff from the plane, he hoards information. He probably knows more about everybody on the island than anyone else.
He's a smart guy and knows how to use the information he's gathered, and when not to share what he knows.
He's very smart! We, as audience, know that better than the island folks.

I loved the reaction of all 3 to the Sawyer/Christian meeting. And I also think that when his father told Jack that he didn't have what it takes, he was trying to protect him from himself. Christian shows his other side. Next episode, the same for an other character.😉

I've been a Locke fan since my first watch, but Mayra makes me look like a hater. She's a fan on another higher level. Great reactions by everyone. They really get it.
One more thing. Never give Sawyer a gun. First he misses trying to kill a man, then he shoots an innocent man. I only bring that up because I don't think anyone mentioned it during your discussion.

Uma breve correção aqui Rodrigo (famoso lá vem o chato) no começo você tava falando sobre episódios que repetiram personagens em flashback e falou que até agora tinha tido do Kate e do Jack. Na verdade até agora teve da Kate, do Jack e do Charlie.

Na cena que o Sawyer passa na delegacia eu lembro que falei que legal o personagem passando no flash de outro sem conhecer, mas nesse ep quando o Sawyer interage com o Pai do Jack eu lembro de ficar maluco de chegar na escola falando eles se conheceram e o Sawyer agora sabe disso pqp. (detalhe falei isso sacudindo um dos amigos que assistia lost tambem)
Eu nunca sempre pode ficar tenso só que esse escalou muito. kkkk

Ok, of course I was too sick to comment on this episode when you guys uploaded and now I'm starting to think that it's my favorite season 1 episode.... 😅🤭
SO much to talk about here. First off: 11:15 GOTTA be the cutest Kate moment yet, right? 😅🥰 And she actually had a number of other ones, too just in this episode.
Then, Locke appears....
And he tells that dog story..... And I start crying E V E R Y time... 😔
But what kills me every time.... Is that bar talk with Jack's dad.... 😭
First off: I never really hated that man all that much to begin with. I didn't think he was a bad person. But I like that the way he talks here, finally other viewers start seeing him more like I used to see him all the time. He's got some really serious with self-hate or self-loathing which was part of the reason why I felt a connection to him in the first place. I also have had enough experience where relatives treat you like shit, so it wasn't that outrageous when I saw Christian treated Jack that way sometimes, he sure had his reasons which were mostly noble to him.
It was actually his self hate, which basically the biggest problem I had with the character.
Because I KNOW, that's like a disease.... And it eats you and consumes you until there's not much left from yourself.
That's where the alcohol came into place, I'm pretty sure. And I understood that. But I didn't judge him for that. I've had my fair share of addictions, too. I would just judge him for the wrong decisions he would make while being intoxicated. It's okay for most people to drink a BIT ever so often. But for an addict? NO chance. They will never be able to control it.
Which is why I personally completely quit drinking, actually now 13 months ago, and counting.... 🤞
I'm trying to get a few remaining things worked out about myself and deal with it but I also used to hate myself A LOT more than I do now...
But I'm still also going to therapy of course. 😅 It's not about the things you do to finally get rid of your problems. I have no shame in any of that. But all the things you didn't do to TRY??? THAT'S it! Sure, we always need more education in that regard. But people always get taught to be so perfect. Never make mistakes and if you do, at least don't get caught! 😅
If if you do, please stop believing that! That's so much bs. And I have accepted that and embraced some "flaws" I didn't wanna change.
I'm a lot more relaxed since then 😅🤭 or let's say "relieved".
Basically, I just wanna say: Don't hate yourself, people! There is always LOGICAL reason to hate yourself. But that can get yourself in the way.
Just try your best. And when you mess up, GREAT! Try again, if you want. Or leave it. But don't let that BOTHER you. What kinda life is that?
Just try to be as authentic as you can be as a person and being comfortable with that. 👍

So please, everyone (the few who will still ever read this 😔) forget everything I just said.... 😅
Also I wanna say, to defend Sawyer a bit here (because I think if anyone will still ever read this, most likely one of the Reatores crew 😅🤭).
But IF Sawyer ever tells Jack about that night in the bar, he can probably find a better fitting moment than that one! I mean, he basically undestands right then and there that Jack's father died tragically, I don't wanna say "like a hero"... And all Jack can do is tell how much of a big piece of sh>t his dad was.... 🙈
I think that's probably ... NOT the right moment. But also, I find it really interesting to notice how much Larissa (yes, I finally learned the names now 😅🤭) already sees the Island basically like its own character in the show.
Like, the kind of connections she makes there and how she argues and phrases that towards the end of the video... it's really interesting to listen to...
Which, I'm not saying if she's right or wrong.
But I always loved speculating about that, kind of in a similar way.
Which is by the way, as you know also the main reason why I started to spell the Island from Lost with a capital "L" pretty long ago now. But every time! Which is what you do in English with Names. Also character names...
And I think probably more people should do that.

That scene with Christian is superb. All the regret in his voice and yet the lack of courage to pick up the phone and call his son... I mean, anyone who either had problems with alcohol or family has to relate with that.
And hey, congratulations on your 13 months! That must be a huge victory for you, I can only imagine how much effort it took you!
And mental health is something most of us have problems with these days. After the pandemics, things went south for a lotta people. I just hope people can find that good part of themselves. Or at least things that make you feel better. A song, a place or... For example, when I have a terrble day, if I watch The End, I always feel better.
Sawyer is one of the best written antiheroes. By the way, would you ever be interested in reacting to other shows from that era? Like, True Blood? Sons of Anarchy?
I would like to do several shows here, including shows from that time... problem is, I have to select a few, cause I can only do 3 shows at a time.
Sawyer and Kate really truly understand each other. I ship it.
Don't give me any of this "but Jack and Kate are soooooooulmates...!!!" nonsense. blech.
On a rewatch it occurs to me that Sawyer's dad would certainly have shot him too.
The two biggest male influences on little Sawyer's life would have been Original Sawyer -- con man -- and his dad -- abusive murderer. I can see why our Sawyer chose to model himself on one and not the other. It reminds me a bit of Better Call Saul where young Jimmy meets the con man who gives him that line about "wolves and sheep." If our Sawyer grew up thinking that way, as much as he hates Original Sawyer and blames him for what happened to his parents, he'd still see him as more successful and clever than his dad who lost all his money and decided to kill himself and his wife (and probably his son if he could have).
It makes our Sawyer a more interesting character. CAN he even choose to be a good man when he's never had a model of what that looks like? Does he have contempt for Jack because he sees him as a "sheep" instead of a "wolf" like himself?
That's cool. I remember that in BCS... Jimmy and Sawyer have a lot in common actually. I'd say Sawyer is a bit more edgy, but the similarity is there.
I think so... Him seeing Jack as the sheep (Shephard....) really makes sense considering all their conflicts.
