I think, someone said that the Chinese symbols aren't accurate for the translation they give but I need that EXACT translation.

The Locke and Claire scenes in this episode are beautiful and always really get to me...and clearly I wasn't alone on this 😍
It's never occurred to me that Locke might have somehow already known it was her birthday...it seemed more like a happy coincidence. But who knows? 😉

Small detail that I didn't notice up to this episode (and I watched this series like six times), is that Sam Toomey's wife lost her leg because of an accident caused by the numbers and Hurley's mom hurt her ankle because of the numbers. Probably a coincidence and not a deliberate detail placed there by the writers but it's always fun to find these small little things.
Those are always fun details to notice. Even if unintentional, fact is we are blessed to have such a fun show that gave us enough elements to find even after so many views!

E algo em grande escala que afeta até mesmo fora da ilha. As vezes tudo que a pessoa quer é alguém apoiar. Sempre que o Hurley falava que os números eram amaldiçoados ele esperava que alguém falasse que também achava.
A Danielle mesmo sendo a francesa louca concordou e ele simplesmente se sentiu aceito. Finalmente aceito.
Se eu fosse amigo do Hurley ia acreditar no primeiro minuto pois acredito que coisas misteriosas existem no mundo.
Sempre que vejo os números na escotilha eu lembro de como fiquei louco quando mostrou eles.
Hurley entrega a bateria, Jack ri e Sayid fica bobo, Hurley dobra todo mundo na lábia se deixar.

Total, cara, às vezes tudo o que vc precisa é ser ouvido e que vejam pelo seu ponto de vista. Da pra entender bem o alívio do Hurley com alguém finalmente concordando com ele.

Yes, that was recent. In May! Five of the six numbers from Lost came up! The prize for anyone who matched all their numbers would have been 37 million reais (Brazilian currency). Several people who matched five numbers won a smaller prize and shared it among themselves.

About Locke seemingly knowing Claire's birthday before hand. I had that feeling too. Not only that either, there are other instances Locke seemed to know other people's thoughts or personal information. For example, he seemed to know Boone's obsession about Shannon, I don't think he did do those things do Boone just because he wanted to tell Shannon about the hatch. He seemed to be well informed like there was a serious obsession. Appearing to Jack, Sun or Sawyer/Kate in the middle of the jungle whenever they need some good talk. He's very wise and very very convincing and knows the right thing to say to almost every person on the island. He helps them but that help seems like a subtle minor manipulation at the same time. Doesn't all that sound like late Locke in the show? I mean Season 5-6 Locke, I'll just say like reading people's memories you know...
A theory that I feel might be right is, I tend to think the writers were already building Locke as the Season 5-6 Locke (or something similar) in the 1st season. I mean he was meant to already be like Season 5-6 Locke, especially after his encounter with the monster in the 4th episode. But it seems they took another direction with the start of Season 2 because they needed to extend the show and they knew they kept it vague enough to change the plans, as there was no tight proof to it. But you know; it's quite visible Season 2-3-4 Locke (except maybe very early season 2) isn't like Season 1 Locke that much... Not that wise, doesn't seem to know much about people he's talking to, sometimes easily manipulated rather than manipulating or helping people... The writers might have took another direction but come back to a version of their original plan in Season 5 as they knew the finale of the show is now approaching. They might have just done the same "switch" at Season 5, instead of revealing it already happened in Season 1, probably in Episode 4. Imagine LOST lasted for only 3 seasons because let's say they've already agreed to end it in Season 3, so Season 2-3 were very different from current Season 2-3 and the Season 2 finale was the reveal of the "switch" which already happened in the Walkabout episode. That sounds like something the LOST writers would do, right?
As I said, my examples (and other probable examples) doesn't prove this is the case. It's just a crazy theory based on some interesting Locke moments in Season 1 and my feelings. And I also realize there might be some moments or plot details that might suggest otherwise, like Locke didn't feel anything off with Ethan... As I said they kept it very vague even if that was their initial plan...

That is a fascinating theory, and kudos to the writers if they came up with those details like knowing it was Claire's birthday beforehand. I've heard theories like that one, but this is the 1st time that Claire scene is mentioned as a hint. I absolutely love it.
If one day I meet Damon or Carlton, that's something I'd surely ask 😁
With that said, I think they had something in mind for Locke, in the sense that while all other characters start off broken and lost, and then slowly get redemption and knowledge, with Locke it would be the opposite. That he somehow got corrupted or something. But I don't know how much of it would have to do with MIB that early.

I hope I'm understanding your question correctly.
It wasn't buried originally. It was intended as an exit. The ladder inside broke at some point and the hatch laid unused for many years. The jungle grew over the hatch in time "burying" it.

Cara, eu nem sou tão fã dessa cena da 5a temporada... aquele episódio é muito bom (5x13) , mas acho essa cena apenas ok. Acho que seria até melhor não ter mostrado isso.
Isso dito, talvez Radzinski tenha achado que a sequência de números é uma coisa muito importante para ser esquecida, e assim mandou gravarem ali na porta. Sei la, para que gerações futuras soubessem.
