Another informative video Ben. I must say that i am very impressed with your instructor. Obviously a skilled pilot in his own right but its the fact that he is taking you through some fun/serious situations. Love the dead stick landings and the white line hopping. I think he is also having some fun and the mutual respect is so apparent. Thanks for sharing .
Hi Ben, still working through the back catalogue. I really like the low level line weaving. It certainly has a good glide ratio for the engine failures.
Excellent Ben! I’ve never done a dead stick landing myself so it’s cool to see it done. I’m laughing at how far you can glide and how long you have to decide on a field with the Eurostar compared to the helicopter. I might have to do a comparison video. 🚁✈️👍🏻
It’s odd to think how much extra drag you get off the static prop. Certainly good to experience. Haha honestly - the Eurostar glide distance catch’s me out on my next video...my worst approach ever 😂😫 yes a comparison video would be amazing....!! 👍👍
Nice work Ben! Seems like the Eurostar is a bit less forgiving (metal wings, low wing & smaller ailerons) and more of a challenge, but a lot of fun and more "sporty". Nice day for it too! Lovely little aeroplane, a bit disconcerting when the air cooling fan at the front got switched off though LOL!
Ben Atkinson Certainly looks that way and ergonomically it's more like a GA aircraft. You must be clocking up some nice hours, with better aircraft availability/choice now :-)
Probably a question for Dave. Is the benefit of practicing PFL with engine off actually worth the safety risk? If a person/animal/vehicle encroached the runway just before touch down, you would be fortunate to successfully restart and execute a go around.
Yeh I think thats a good point - however....we were certainly in, and it was a closed airfield - also - with such a large amount of ground you can see animals etc. I fully trust him and it was good to train for that...it felt very different. But - great point taken on. Ill ask him ...and let you know!
MrAlwaysBlue Anywhere else, with anyone else, in other conditions and circumstances? I think it would be a no, no, not worth the risk. It's all about choices, decision making, risk assessment relative to experience. I get the feeling that the instructor knows the aircraft and airfield very well.
Great video and instruction for free! Cheers from a Sportstar owner in the southwest USA.

Hey Peter, really appreciate comments like this! Makes it all worthwhile. Thanks for watching and following along. Ben
Peter Disley I think David Young is a microlight pioneer, thousands of hours under his belt?
Yeh nearly 10k and that’s just instructing!
Great point about the go around, into the wind, especially
if it was from a forced landing as the engine is likely to fail again.
Yeh - I was disappointed with that one - but other than that - a very good productive session!
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Don't be disappointed, it is all part of the learning curve, you probably will not make the same mistake again.
Wow, nice flying, I'm sure that prop stopping focuses the mind!
It really does joe! Great to practice with an instructor and a huge runway.....only!
@@BenAtkinsonVideos yes haha I was thinking it's the sort of thing that if it goes wrong, you've got an awful lot of explaining to do
Nice video, mate! I like the EV97 very much, awesome plane! The view outside looks a lot like my plane... 😉
Mate its so so good this aircraft....thanks for watching !
@@BenAtkinsonVideos Thank you for taking the effort to share your flying on RUclips!
Loving these videos mate it’s great to follow the lessons. I’m so looking forward to getting flying again soon 👍

Ben Atkinson yeah I was always warmed it would create more drag but haven’t experienced it. I’ll look forward to your video. 👌
Another good one Ben, well done.
Cheers mate...awesome fun!
Nice.
Hey nice one Bob thanks for watching

Hahaha yes a little. Great to try it tho. Yeh it’s less forgiving but simply wonderful to fly!

Good job, well done!
Job well done 👍
Hey 👋 Cheers Andrew

I have never flown an A/C with the prop stopped haha
Ah mate - its SO WEIRD!!!
