Why the masked guy's head is awful-looking with only strands of hairs left is that this is post-nuclear war and some people suffer from radiation poisoning. Some water is unsafe to drink if it's radiated as pointed out in some of the movies.

    Puppy fact
When a crew member visited a shelter looking for a pet to cast in the film, he was surprised to see Dog show so much personality. Dog picked up like a rock and played with it like a toy, prompting the crewman to believe that Dog could perform well onscreen. While filming, the loud sounds of the engines on set made Dog so upset that he needed earplugs to complete the scene. After production wrapped, Dog was adopted by a camera operator.

Dale Aspin, who was a stuntwoman and an animal trailer (also wife of stuntman Max Aspin that did a bunch of stunts on MM2) - she found the dog in an animal shelter. After filming Dale and Max adopted Dog, but they couldn't keep an eye on him because they were away so much and the dog was very active. So they gave the dog to Gerry Gauslaa - a stuntman on MM2. He wanted to adopt Dog from the very start, so it was a win-win.

And that's why he's the chief of the great northern tribe 😉
Road Warrior is where Max becomes myth. The action's crazier, the villain's crazier, and Max is crazier 😅 When you understand that it's a story being told about Max, the exaggeration and insanity make more sense.
Beyond Thunderdome takes the theme of 'Max as myth' even further.

"And the Road Warrior? That was the last we ever saw of him. He lives now... only in my memories."
Fun Fact: The costume department assembled the costumes by raiding junk shops, second hand clothing stores, sporting outlets, and S&M shops.
Liability Waved Fact: The tanker roll stunt at the end of the chase was deemed so dangerous that the stunt driver was not allowed to eat any food twelve hours before they shot, in the likely event that he could be rushed into surgery.
Shocking Backstory Fact: Humungus (Kjell Nilsson) was originally supposed to be Max's partner Jim Goose (Steve Bisley). The production decided against this, but left a few hints, such as horrible burns behind Humungus' goalie mask, the use of police vehicles by the raiders, and his own use of a similar weapon to the MFP's standard sidearm.
K-9 Enthusiast Fact: The dog used in the film, named simply Dog, was obtained from a local dog pound and trained to perform in the film. Because the sound of the engines upset him (and in one incident, caused him to relieve himself in the car), he was fitted with special earplugs. After filming was complete, he was adopted by one of the camera operators. Dog then went back to the trainer and lived a long happy life.

I had heard that Humongous was meant to be Fifi.
Fifi had gone totally crazy like Max nearly did in the first film, and used the mechanic who built the interceptor to make his new vehicle with all the NOS.
Goose died after being burned alive in the first film.
Fifi is the same size and build as Humongous, And also had the NFP sidearm with armour piercing bullets.

  • @MadMaxBible
    @MadMaxBible 4 месяца назад +5

To clear up the air on a few things:
Humungus was not meant to originally be Jim Goose. That's some urban myth without any proof. However the role of Humungus was offered to Roger Ward, who played Fifi in MM1! He turned it down for some reason. They also offered the role to Herb Grasse - the original concept artist for MM2 (he made really weird concept art for this film that was never used). He also turned it down.
The Dog was actually called 'Dog' IRL and was found by Dale Aspin (animal trainer and wife of Max Aspin - stuntman on MM2) in a shelter. Dale and Max adopted the dog for a few months after the filming but they couldn't keep up with him so they gave it to another stuntman on the film - Gerry Gauslaa and the dog lived the rest of his days on his farm near the sea.
    Fun facts:
When Humungus screams in the night in the rain, he's reciting a poem by Goethe. But IRL the actor Kjell Nilsson was swearing like a sailor because it was so cold. BTW the movie was filmed in Australian winter which starts in June. You can't see it but they were all freezing cold.
It was so cold that actors ran back to the yellow bus (that's the gate in the film) to get warm. And they knew it was too cold when Wez's butt got purple. Vernon Wells played that character and they called him 'barometer bum'.
Bruce Spence who played the Gyrocaptain was fresh out of the hospital when they started filming, which is why he was so thin.
They modified the original Pursuit Special from MM1 and made a copy for the crash stunt. You can tell the copy by the fact it doesn't have wipers.
When you see Max switch on the 'booby-trap' at gunpoint, that's actually Byron Kennedy's hand - George Miller's producing partner. The car was pretty much his idea starting with MM1.

His leg was dislocated below the knee. He went on to be the stunt coordinator on Fury Road. Guy Norris performed opening car flip and drove the doofwagon into the flipped over war rig at the end himself.
Director George Miller worked in a trauma ward befor being a director and this came in handy for the tanker crash at the end. That, and they’re in Australia, so little to no guns. The fact that one guy having a double barrel shotgun and another a revolver is a big deal helps ground the realism.
And the big hitting weapon of the bad guys is a quadruple compressed air arrow launcher speaks volumes.

Gonna say something about the dog food he eats. Having played the mad max game on pc, where most smaller such human villages have a so called maggot farm where they throw anything they can to grow maggots on , that they use for protein....finding a can of dog food is like getting lucky and eating gourmet for a change, savvy?

Love this film so much, my dad let me see this film when I was 7 and it was the first R /18 rated film I had ever seen. I don't know how many times I have seen over the years but it never gets boring. The thing I remember most about that first viewing was my dad saying "Just don't tell your mum I let you watch it".
