Thank you for your time and valuable information:)! I'm a glassblower but I watch your videos for entertainment and relaxation. . I hope that you have a great day:):):)
I never ship without being paid. It is just like going to the store. You don't leave without paying. Simple ! Neat bit today my friend. Thanks and have a great weekend.
When I was studying metalsmithing in college I attended several weekend workshops regarding self promotion, creating portfolios, and pricing ones work. You have hit all those topics in your videos and been spot on with your dialog. Hopefully, You Tube royalties can be passed on to an heir because your videos will probably be around long after your passing, especially as your brand begins to grow. Have you considered hiring other smiths for production?
I look forward to your videos! I love all the free info you can get on RUclips! I look for new opportunities every day to review on my channel but I love watching other people's videos...Most people are good and are trying to help others. RUclips is the greatest platform to learn new things
Thanks for the information I have been making knives now for about a year. Forging knives for about 3 months. I have gotten the bug and love doing it. Now to be able sell some will b able to help when I retire in two years.
Carrier is like a trucking company or phone company. A lifelong or at least a long term job is a career. Michelangelo and Da Vinci had careers. Mayflower is a carrier.
You are oh so right about letting Etsy handle the headache of shipping computation! P.S. Just noticed your filming clapperboard is not where it usually hangs🦅👁🎬
Sadly, Etsy is not what it used to be... They have changed some policies, implemented a subscription plan for shops owners, etc... Sales have gone down for many shops on Etsy the last couple years.
I love how unbiased you are with your information. You're not trying to shove a lable down my throat, and I appreciate that. I havent watched the whole thing (as I'm typing I'm watching), do you need a vendors licence when using etsy? I've had my EIN since 2013, and I don't know off hand if I have the vendors licence... It shouldn't be too hard to get if I need it, I was just wondering. As always thankyou for sharing this video. (Edit) also, can you calculate that etsy fee into taxes at the end of the year?
Licensing is probably based on where your located. But I don't have any special license to sell online or through Etsy. I do deduct the fees as a business expense when I do my taxes.
@@BlackBearForge thankyou for replying to my question! I was procrastinating on opening up to etsy since I didn't know anything about it, other than you buy and sell on it. I'm going to look into it more since I saw your video. Again thankyou so much! Stay blessed my friend
Not much, although my personal goals with respect to craft vs business has changed some thanks to RUclips. I now worry less about sales and try to explore things I don't have a customer base for.

When google was private and not public any web site would come up in a search, when they went public the top searches are the ones that pay for it. The more money you pay the higher up your web page.Money now talks on web sites, that is why Ebay, Etsy and the like took of. No good having a web site that does not come up in searches. Are there two of you as I do not know where you get the time, to do all you do, reply to comments, make goods, watch your web site, post on etsy and social media, make videos and rearrange your shop.
I'm slowly getting educated in all of this. I have my son helping me with it.
Love to hear another smiths perspective on online selling.. Great job on the video and thank you so much for the shout out John! God bless

If its good for you as a vendor use Etsy. As a costumer buying through Etsy its
I wonder if your views have changed 4 years later in 2023. The info still seems relevant.

The best way to succeed on Etsy is to be China. (Applies to every site)
