+daemonxblaze we are glad you are enjoying this series! Thank you for taking the time to watch them and keep a eye out for the next one on Monday. God bless
grayem pepper Thank you. I've had a lot of practice - we sold hundreds of items on eBay before starting an Etsy store. Roy and I do make a good team... if he didn't forge things, I wouldn't have much to sell! -Jessica
Jessica I desperately need help on how to get started! The way you explain it is awesome and very easy to follow your so bright and cheery! your absolutely beautiful to boot!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I am starting a Etsy store so I am doing research before it goes live. You videos are very informative. Thanks again and may the Lord bless you too.
Thanks so much for these videos. I'll be opening my shop as soon as I can replenish some inventory. Everything I have made now is going for Christmas gifts. I had to laugh when I realized that it was your battery that was low and not mine! :)
First I want to thank both of you for your inspirational videos! Secondly I was wondering how long it took for sales to start rolling in? How many listings should I start with?
We are glad that you are enjoying the videos Adam. I would suggest starting with 10 listings. It took about 6 weeks for us to get our first sales, but it will vary per shop. Sincerely, Jessica
Very good, the kind of useful information not normally covered on smithing channels. I have an Etsy shop, as of about 6 months ago. I need to work on it more and get more items stocked. I'm in England btw. Just to say I don't think sellers outside the US get the 'calculate postage' extra, which is probably to be expected (it's a US outfit), but it's not a big deal. We can go to Royal Mail website and get postage rates there. Having said that, Etsy has recently had a bit of an update for sellers I notice. I've not yet checked that out closely either. Maybe there are more tools and options there. I've already sold a few things to California. Remarkable really. Sorry about that, lol. Enjoying this friendly channel a lot. Thanks for your work.
Hi Finarfin, I'm glad you find this type of info useful. We've noticed that about other channels. We've been asked a lot in person how we do it full time, but obviously there is too much to cover in one sitting! Glad to hear you have an Etsy shop. How is it going for you? And what is your link? I'd love to take a look! Thanks for the fantastic input. ~Jessica
Thanks for the reply Jessica. Well, I've only had a few sales so far but like I said, I need to work on it a little, promote it more, get more items in the listings. I'm always busy with other stuff direct from the shop. Local work. I didn't want to put the link up on your channel without being asked. That seems kinda rude. But seeing as you asked, and thanks for that www.etsy.com/uk/shop/WolfJawForge?ref=profile_shopicon
You've got a decent amount of items, and I like your descriptions. Your prices are very reasonable. If I were to make three recommendations to help you get more sales, I would say: 1. Use all your tags (I have a video coming up on how to research the best tags). 2. Try to get the best photos possible 3. Make sure you renew all of your items every week (you can do a few every day)- this helps your placement on the search results) Your shop is off to a great start! ~Jessica
Wow, that's great Jess and thanks for the heads up and advice. Yes, I would like to see more tips about using the site. I try to be as reasonable as possible with the prices. The economy is anything but great here in the UK, but I do find that many commodities and tools seem cheaper than in the US, and sometimes a whole lot cheaper (anvils for sure). I'm not sure about steel itself, might be similar. I have low premises primary overheads too. Thanks again.
Great work thanks alot. Only questions I have is is etsy something I can do from just my phone because I don't have a computer. Also is easy the only sight you guys use to sell you items. Thanks again
Hi Micky, Yes, Etsy has an app called "Sell on Etsy" app, which is for sellers. You can post listings and make changes to your shop there. You will need to have a way to print a shipping label though (could be as simple as going to the library!) We've tried selling in lots of places... from eBay, Scotts Marketsplace, CustomMade, Amazon, DaWanda. Of all of them, Etsy has provided the most traffic and sales to us. Blessings, Jessica
do I'm REALLY enjoying these "how to start a business " videos. very good information that I may find invaluable.
