- In this video I'm in sunny Aberdeen checking out TX skatepark. The facilities here are extraordinary and the 10ft bowl stretched my skills to the limit.

Mate I am massively impressed with how well you took to that bowl - that’s the closest indoor to me and that thing is INTIMIDATING. I’ve not even dropped in the deep end yet, got a wee back slash and that’s it. You’ve inspired me to pony up next time I’m there 👊🏼
Yeah dude, it’s proper scary, one of the most mental waterfalls I’ve ever skated ??
As someone who has grown up with TX as my go to local skatepark i can confirm just how scary that bowl is in person, mad respect for going straight at it 🤘 (ps my pfp is a really old photo from on the mini ramp you warmed up on)
wow that place is beautiful!
Maaaaan! that was sick bowl!
It’s blimmin’ ace that one!
not just me that marvels at the craftsmanship and engineering in the woodwork at skateparks then.... :)
Cant believe I missed you at TX, would have come along for a skate! Hope you enjoyed TX!
It was ace 👍
looks amazing
Impressive bowl riding, looks massive!
Amazing work they did to construct that park 🤯
John I love watching you skateboard, I definitely sense you amassing a very large following in the future. Who is he doing what are you doing, I will definitely keep watching! RUclips unsubscribed me from you about a month ago by the way >:(
Many thanks for tuning in dude!
Wow! Nice rock-fakie to fakie carve! I'm still a little sketchy riding fakie. But I'm almost 60 now and couldn't ride fakie at all when I was 18.
Looks like a really well built park. Looks like a park with good flow too.
Nice bowl!
my family lives there and i might be visiting there soon. might bring my skateboard and try out this park!
Yeah dude, do it !!
Awesome brother!
Great vid again Jon. Great to see the home park getting some exposure. I find the big bowl here a bit more daunting than the Xpark big bowl. Think its just more enclosed and the waterfall is steeper. You find them much different?
Yeah, white knuckle for both, the shallow is easier at TX for me, but the waterfall is mental 😂 Both challenging, Love them both !
Love to go here
Get into loading bay in Glasgow! Bowl there is a beauty
Yeah dude, I’ve been lucky to have a few goes at the loading bay, flows so nice 👌
You need to come to inverness skatepark, one of the biggest concrete skatepark in scotland, even has a big nessie you can skate
Wicked, I like the sound of skating the Nessie !!!
@@JonBishopSkate It basically starts at a drop in leading up to about a 7ft roll in the to a 5ft roll the to a massive vert type thing with the nessies head on it which is about 12ft, the bowls good aswell got a deep end and some bits without coping.
@@blackisleskateboarding3716 I love Inverness park, what an absolute gem it is! Always try to hit it when were home. The roll into and air the fun box takes some big boy pants :)
Still progressing i see. Funny to think you're be hitting your skateboarding prime at about 50. Good job bro
Ha ha, you are probably right, there is a guy in his mid 50s at my local park, and he is continually progressing and skates to a high standard.
sick bowl wish i could shred it rn
Hi Jon, do you have any advice and tips for dropping into the 10ft bowl? I am super scared of it and have lots of trouble with being scared of tricks and committing. I can drop into the 6ft bowl/middle section and thats the tallest ramp ive done so far. Please help me out as this has been a dream since I started skating and have always wanted to drop in. Thanks!
Hey dude
Here’s my video of the process

Unfortunately, I found it was a case of repeatedly trying until my body finally complied. So I reckon just drop in on as many different ramps as you possibly can. I found dropping in on Vert to be a leap of faith. Your muscle memory will kick in and save you so you’ve just got a trust that once you commit forwards it’ll all happen, but it is scary and there is a risk attached. I have fallen several times and it’s worth being cautious!
@JonBishopSkate I've not got any vert near me as my local is Fraserburgh skate park, should I just treat this as a normal quarter pipe but just bigger? Or should I try keep more bent down and stay lower?
@@justas7021 yeah, I like to stay lower. In the end I got so frustrated that I hired a coach to get it done.
@@JonBishopSkate Was it Cameron? Im a cheap skate lol ill get my friend to motivate me but im not sure ill get it done anyways
@@justas7021 Greg Nowik is the man!
Great vid Jon, just wondering if you or anyone else knows how they construct those bowls? Do they just eyeball the sheets of ply when they fit them to the transition or are computers involved? Just wondering
Good question, I have no idea, but it’s impressive to see, the transitions are fairly straightforward, but the bowl corners and hips must be tricky ?
@@JonBishopSkate yeah definitely, how they get a fairly stiff bit of flat ply to fit perfectly into those curves without gaps is impressive
Hi, my name is Jon Bishop and I’m clocking up air miles like no one’s business 😂
Ha ha !
These videos are awesome, thank you for producing them. How often do you skate per week and how long are your sessions?
Hey dude
My sessions are usually around 90mins, I’d say I skate 4 to 5 times a week on average?
when are u posting the lsten vid
Hey dude
This weekend with any luck !!
Looks awesome Jon!
*by the way, I know that time is ticking on but are you no longer a “middle aged guy, learning how to skate” anymore? 😉
Ha, I’ve reserved that sign off for the vids where I learn a new trick. For the skate park tours it seems a little redundant. I’m 48 so out of interest, how long can I cling on to the middle aged tag do you recon ??
@@JonBishopSkate I'm 55 and skate 4 times a week at least. I'm still clinging to it.
