You should definitely do more like this. There are some of us moving to Mexico to immerse ourselves in Mexican culture and live amongst the locals (like myself). And many have budget considerations (also me) who can't afford most options marketed to foreigners.

I moved to Tlaquepaque last year. My two bedroom house is small but we spend so much time outside. It does not matter at all. BTW, my rent is $3,500 pesos and I have to pay for water, electricity, gas tanks and internet. It is like $350 for everything.

There are attractive towns all over Mexico and locals are very, very pleased if you live there. I love visiting places anywhere, but for living I like resort or university towns that have more going on - cultural things and even the bars and restaurants that cater to expat's taste. Nothing like a Mex. Rest. that makes everything you like and charges you in pesos - it's just super nice!!! AND....often, when in Mex., I just bring my dog with me when I go to a restaurant and it's OKAY!!!!

I hear people talking about high price $1000 apartments in Mexico and I think to myself, 'damn, learn how to use Google'. They are paying tourist gringo prices. $100 a month is great even if not close to the beach! I'd be happy with $250 in playa del carmen. It's not easy to find cheap Mexican apartments online, everyone tries to airBnB it for ridiculous money.

Like many others have said, please do more videos like this with many different pricing options. I'm a single 55 year old woman who is SERIOUSLY considering a move to Mexico from Michigan, and I'm looking for a furnished one bedroom with an office space, covered outdoor space and a washer/dryer combo. My only real concern is finding something like that in a SAFE area, but I need a landlord that will allow a dog. I've looked at many different videos, but I haven't seen any place with those requirements, much less one in my limited budget. So, please consider those of us who are seriously considering a move like this, not just folks who are looking out of curiosity (not that there's a thing at all wrong with just being curious). Some of us desperately need a little help!

A place like this would work for me .Like you said it has everything you need you can decorate it to your style ,and from the money that I would be saving I would use that money to explore the rest of Mexico. There are many of these hidden Gems in Mexico some much bigger and nicer within the same price range sometimes even lower. Many American and Canadian citizens never find them because they stick to the touristy and expat areas only.As far as a rough area goes ,what is considered a rough area to someone may not be considered a rough area to others.

For convenience, I usually live in Zona Romantica. I usually visit summers and always find a place reasonable and convenient. Having two dogs with me causes me to ask locals to assist - friend I know and love. I'm hoping to go there permanently, so may be looking for a longer term house with a yard, patio or deck suitable for the dogs. Given that I have a car, I could locate further afield, too. It would be nice if I can accommodate visitors as well.

I’ve seen a few of your videos, they’re entertaining to see what you’re doing. I think if people are willing to go to the rough areas, they can find housing for that price anywhere, even the Lake Chapala where we’re at. The locals that are the younger working class seek out affordable housing on local fb groups that the expats don’t get into or very few do because they don’t speak Spanish. Hilarious that your friend asked you if you’d live there? 😂 I wouldn’t live there, been here nearly 20 years but we started out living in the popular area of Guadalajara, owned a house and I could never relax. I think the environment would stress me out on a daily basis, I’m too spoiled now. I would have when we first moved down. We just gutted a studio in the Lake Chapala area as an investment and it’s been interesting. We were led to believe that it’d be really easy to rent. It’s been 2 months and we haven’t rented it. Granted, I may be a bit picky about who I rent it to considering what is invested in the property. 😅 I’m so stressed out about it I’m willing to sell it.

Thank you for showing this. I'm selling a HUGE home and moving to Mexico - often, I've been in PV summers. I've got two well-behaved dogs (one a street dog that found me), so I'm likely looking for a house with a courtyard. I know where you are there - a bit far back into the barrios, but it's okay. Pitallal is another not far from you. I've always found places in the Romantic Zone a bit back from the malecon, but I enjoy long walks so these barrios are just fine and NICE to find a place that's updated like this one. I always have the car, but walking's fine, too.

Hey Joey. We get quite a few requests to meet up so it’s difficult. We will be scheduling an open meet up one day soon. I also have a beer wine and food tour that can be booked at bici bucerias but that means you would be stuck with me for 3 hours ;) we do have room on tonight’s tour.

Don't come to Vallarta it has become extremely expensive. Some house rent 70,000 pesos per month. Condos in towers, $2,500 USD + per month. Where I am the 30 yo condos rent for approx 20-25k pesos. And the restaurants have jacked up their prices a lot. Some have started to put prices in USD before pesos (Blake's $$$), like in Cancun.
Sure you can always find a very local place in the back barrios with dusty streets for cheaper but loud music until morning, barking dogs all day, insecurity will be your norm.
Have been to small pueblos like guayabitos, peñita , San Blas, Melaque, cheaper but are they ever boring places compared to Vallarta.

@@MovingToMexiCo After 2 road trips over 9 months from Mazatlan to Durango to Progreso and Chiapas (23 estados total), my special place and home is Vallarta. It has everything, the best malecón, colonies with differente vibes etc. Unfortunately the word got out and it's getting over popular with condo towers getting out of the ground everywhere. My plan is the stay in PV until I can afford it. I already had to downgrade my rent for a cheaper one to stay within a reasonable budget. But I will not accept living in the back barrios where I'm well aware of too many bad stories.
