2 months into a R58 Cinquantotto. Love it. Still can't manage to do latte art, but the espresso drinks I'm brewing taste better than 98% of the commercial places I've visited.
We've had its predecessor from 2019-2021 and the current model from 2021 until the present. Vast improvement on the old model. We are now extremely fussy about what commercial coffee we buy these days, as most don't compare to what we make at home. Using Grinders Giancarlo Espresso blend (arabica and robusta) with a Fiorenzato grinder. Always using a naked porta filter. Upgrading to a R91 later this year!
How much time does it need for a full heat up? If I set up that I nerd the machine at 10 am will this turn on at 10 or will it be fully heated up by 10?
Love the timeless design. A bit of a stretch but does remind me of how Bentleys hide their tech too with revolving screens. So a Bentley isn’t on the cards yet, but will order this Rocket from you.
Nice review - but...camera angles seem very rigid at times. When he's describing the removal of the display from the machine, why is the camera focused on his face? He talks about the built-in shot timer being actuated but I'd like to have seen that. Finally we're deprived of seeing a proper shot of the final latte art espresso which would have added a lot to the whole video IMHO.
The Rocket Giotto is also a beautiful machine, and an icon of the Rocket range. As we only sell new equipment, we don't do trade-ins as such, however when we know machines are up for sale we are happy to connect people, as we do get enquiries for second hand equipment. If you email us, customer service will record it, and keep details on file for when we do get an enquiry for a second hand machine :) Then it shouldn't take too long to find a new home for the Giotto. Alternatively, there is always eBay. And, happy to help you on getting the R Cinquantotto on your bench!
Which machine would you choose amongst the Linea Micra, ECM synchronika, or the R58? Love the look of the R58 and the digital screen you can remove but think ECM may have better build quality. Micra is nice too but not sure I like the look of it as much
In terms on build all on par with each other, and in performance they are super similar. Each machine will have its advantage of-course, yet I always think when they are that similar pick the machine your heart is set on, the machine that will make you smile. The machines that make me the happiest aren't always the best or most expensive, there is a lot to be said for the moments created by making coffee, over the numeric results..
I understand you can have the R58 turn on and off twice a day. But can you have it turn on both boilers the first time, and only the brew boiler the second time? Thanks!
Interesting question. I haven't tried it, yet they are separate section in the menu, so I don't believe this is possible. One is a setting and one is a calendar/schedule... I'm not familiar with any machine in market that does this, however, its feedback I can give rocket as would think its easy to implement in the software.
@@CoffeePartsTV Thank you for your answer! This feature would be perfect for me (and many other), since I generally prepare a cappuccino in the morning and an espresso after lunch. Do you know if the R58 software can be updated by the user, in case new versions come out? Thanks!
Similar in many ways, and also different. LM has an app, Rocket control is via the screen. The major difference is e61 group head vs integrated group head, and steam boiler size, with the LM being larger. Lm also comes with stainless handles. Both cool brands, LM does have cult status tho, and price may reflect this too. You are right tho, definitely comparable machines.
Fantastic video as always, thanks ! I'm upgrading very soon and although I was 99% sure to go for the Cinquantotto, I'm now reconsidering for the E1 Prima... I know it's not the same budget but I was wondering if the extra money is worth it. The LM is a nice option and a cult as you said below but for some reason I don't like the look as much as the Rocket but especially the masterpiece that the E1 Prima is... Any thought? It's twice the price but sometimes it's better to go the extra mile instead of buying and then upgrading... thanks !
Both the Rocket R Cinquantotto and VA Prima are beautiful machines. Paired with an awesome grinder, the differences are somewhat negligible, even tho Prima will be better. I would be happy with either on my bench. Personally I always struggle with which machine I want at home, I'm fortunate that I get to cycle thought them. I like difference machines for different reasons, yet also find choosing hard.
Technically yes, all e61 group heads machines pre-infuse of you lift lever half way as they open chamber but don't engage pump at that stage. However, the pre-infusion is nicer than they are plumbed in as they run line pressure at that stage.
It's sometimes filmed over multiple shots, but this one looks like timer said 25 seconds. When dialling in off camera I normally weight in/out 20/40 but on camera doing in from a weird angle and to keep footage clean mainly just eyeball it and cut shots more on gut feel.
I've had my R58 for two years and it has never performed anywhere near how it is depicted in this video. The group head pump pressure is all over the place and does not stay consistant from day to day. This results in over pressure espresso that sprays out sideways or dribbles out too slowly. Ridiculous. Sometimes the timer continues to count even after turning off the group head pump handle - annoying. The drain shelf does NOT come out easy or reinstall correctly. The metal was always bent, making the shelf not level when in place! I'm sorry I ever purchased this thing!
@@exmachina6364 Really? Gee, that would explain why I took it in for service a few months ago and they replaced the group head and a faulty pump. Thanks for your 'constructive' feedback though. You're obviously quite an expert with your 'you can't handle it' comment. Such pearls of knowledge... 🤮
@EggyPlayz98 OMG Far from it! Have you even looked in any of the forums? Have you read or watched reviews?! Even the service tech said that my R58 was defective from the very start. The pressure adjustment under the unit wasn't even functional! Stop!
I hear you, and we have since toned down the music on newer videos. Unfortunately we can't edit the older videos that are already posted. Let me know your thoughts on the music of the newer videos :)
@@CoffeePartsTV I just watched your last video and yes, the music is much more subtle but the other problem is that your voice is also too soft. I had to crank my volume almost to the max to hear you, but then I switched to this current video and the sound almost blew up my speakers. I strongly recommend that you use an audio spectrum and amplify your voice all the way up but without it clipping.
You could us it in a mobile coffee cart, yet in saying that, depending on budget you could look at the La Marzocco Linea Mini or La Marzocco GS3AV. We have done a video comparing the Rocket R Cinquantotto to the La Marzocco Linea Mini and it's due to be release soon.
Have any questions on the Rocket R Cinquantotto?
which is better rocket or profitec 600

It's a really great machine, and happy to hear you are loving it!
Latte art will come with time :)
WE bought this machine about 4 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Wow, a fantastic way to start the day
It really is! Happy to hear :)
Can you recomend this fir small coffee shop?
Hi, great review! do you think this machine will perfectly run on a commercial environment? a small cafeteria (20 people max)?
