    Biggest reason to not get the Rocket is the E61 w/ 3x longer heat up time and a larger footprint. Got my Mirca two weeks ago and I❤love cafe quality shots at home with small footprint for my small kitchen. The portafilter was designed to have less thermal mass for a quicker heat up time not to cut cost it was design feature by La Marzocco . I can turn on my machine for 5min and have cafe quality espresso quickly a huge plus for home machine.

  • @ezlifications

    I now have both, I can say both have their own pros/cons. I also use both for small coffee popups/caterings.
    In a popup setting, I love the higher clearance on the R58, and the ease of topping up water in the water reservoir tank (I dont put takeaway cups on the cups warmer). Both are MP (manual paddle), hence same weightage on this one.
    In a home setting, Micra wins by a huge margin on the heat up time, very powerful steam albeit the shorter steam wand.

    The plastic portafilter was an interesting choice but would go with the Rocket. The option to remove/hide the PID for the more traditional classic look is also a handy thing. Quality wise can't fault Rocket so far three years in with a Mozzafiato Cronometro Evoluzione R and quality every time. Definitely, a statement piece that is functional for a kitchen, life is too short for bad coffee and bad food.

      As am I with my ECM Synchronika which is very similar to the R58. I do consider it a dinosaur though and would never buy it (or any other E61) again.
      It needs around 30 minutes to heat up, burning through 20 ct of electricity during that time. If I leave it on all day, it will heat my kitchen while the energy counter keeps turning. It is no that I cannot afford it; it is that I do not want to, especially keeping in mind Europes energy problems at the moment.
      Switching it off though means: Next time I want a coffee, I have to think about that 30 minutes earlier, because there will be another waiting time.
      For the low number of shots a day in a private home, heating should go much faster. If I did not already own the ECM, I would buy a dual thermoblock machine today.

    • @to7be
      @to7be 11 месяцев назад

      Totally feel this. That’s why I Wilm get the Micra soon. It’s combining a boiler with the low energy consumption of a thermoblock (which I personally don’t like). Great shot by La Marzocco and innovative in its own way!

      Were you able to find a better deal than MSRP? I’m really torn between a couple machines, but if I can get a little break on the LM that will probably be enough to help me make my decision. Thank you.

  • @JonathanChristensen-ox3ci
    @JonathanChristensen-ox3ci 3 месяца назад

    I’m going to pickup my R58 today - yesterday. When I went to look at both machines, I initially thought that the micra was the linea mini at first glance. But sadly no, it was the much smaller machine next to it, which I barely noticed. - it simply lacks scale in my opinion, and the workspace is too limited.
    Hence I ordered the R58 which stood next to it, and for me looked superior.
    As a coffee technician, I like how easy it is to build flow control, and other mods to the 58.
    The only dealbreaker I could see with the Rocket is the heat up time. I kinda fear the electric bill. I do like the pedal and knobs on the micra, more than the rocket also.
    All in all, I think I would be very pleased with both machines, but if I’m not even a la marzocco fanboy, then the extra money wouldn’t make sense for me to throw at it.

    From Line Mini, to Decent, to Ponte Vecchio Lusso, the Micra is the most easiest and best machine. The 5 minute ramp up is a game changer. The espresso is top quality and it is idiot proof. Literally a no brainer.

    I really enjoyed watching the video, it was very informative. However, I noticed that there were several camera angles where my perspective was placed off to the left and only the side of your face was visible. As a viewer, I felt like I wasn't being directly engaged and it took away from the experience a bit. I understand that for some reason this is a trend on RUclips now, but perhaps it could be done in a way that doesn't leave the viewer feeling left out. Just some constructive feedback to consider for future videos. Thank you for sharing your content!

    The Micra wins on aesthetics and size. Some clever engineering and design, too, to create a product like this that is so compact. The minimalist approach is a winner for me. But … what’s with the app. Seriously. That’s a big thumbs down. So too is the clearance between port-a-filter and drip tray. Lastly, I’ve got to say it, that elephant is really heavily on me … the price.

    own the old R58 a couple of years now. Never any problem in daily use. Thought about the Micra because of the extreme preheat time of 35 minutes of the R58. Would have bought the Micra - but no - no - no - a build in Shottimer would have cost 30 Euro and rise the endprice 200 in Marzocco "dimensions". Sorry, it's 2023. Where's the problem to build in a small display of a few mm. Just a counter 1-35 sec. ? because it's rocket science ? - even if Rocket offer it last two years for the same price as for the old machine for shure it is not.

    I am surprised you would label the Rocket as commercial grade machine. To my knowledge, there are no commercial machines build with an E 61 grouphead. Even Rocket’s own commercial machine do not have e61 group heads. I think this is misleading. I think you are probably making more money selling Rockets than la marzocco. E61 machines are popular because they are cheap to build. The innovation la marzocco is bringing with their micra is pretty amazing, such as a 5 to 8 mn heat up time as an example….for full disclosure I own neither machines.
