Hey Rich...just want to thank you with much feeling for taking time for sharing your knowledge....your helping me so much...& for me...your a great communicator & teacher...
Thanks brother.
From a student of the bass guitar living in the UK
Much❤️
Just started watching your lessons and they are so full of clarity, and well-paced. I've been a lifetime "ear" player myself, and finally determined to slow down and do the work. Thank you.
I'm so glad you like them! Thank you so much for watching!
My teacher (cello) in high school drilled in the study of JS Bach to help me understand the musical nature of inversions for the bass clef. A reminder to resist this study was needed for me at least. You are one of the few reasons I go on the internet- and I'm in tech😄Thanks!
Haha! Thank you, Marc. That means a lot, my friend.
* revisit😄
Just found your channel
I'll m always looking for ways to improve my playing
Thanks
BassMan
I am new to your channel, and I already subscribed and ringed the bell, because I feel I will have lots to learn from you. Thanks.
Wow this was super helpful! I probably knew it after a fashion but never thought about it or tried it out. Thanks very much.
I like this guy. His cadence is smooth and informative
Simple concept but, one that adds so much to the music, thank you Rich. Peace and love.
Excellent!
Thanks Rich! You are very easy to learn from!
Awesome lesson thank you!
Thanks!
Really enjoying your channel. Great presentation. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a relaxed and fun manner.
Very helpful.
Great video. Thank you sir
Another great one. Thanks man!
I appreciate your lessons a lot. In mostly play punk songs on bass, which can be played knowing just one or two shapes no problem, so I lack a lot of theoretical knowledge. These videos are a lot helpful, mainly because you're very didactic. If one day I'm able to improv decently, I'm sure it'll be thanks to you.
Wow that's good for the new lessons today's .
Thanks Rich, Kool as always.
Every time I watch you, I learn and I want to thank you for that Mr Brown. 😊
Thank you Rich for inversion of triads I started playing the bass in 2018 I’m on my second teacher now for base and I’m just starting to learn arpeggios, triads, and intervals !
Thanks so much this was really helpfull for writing my own basslines!
Hey man, just wanted to say your videos are great. Whenever I have a specific theory or technique question I type it in and always find your helpful videos at the top of the search. Keep up the awesome work
Thanks for your very clear explanation!!
I’ve been taking bass classes and wow! You have taught me more than my actual instructor! Yes! It makes a lot of sense 😊
Thank you
You are very cool man !
Thanks, Rich! As always, great way to explain something I had heard of but never ventured into.
My pleasure, Brad. Thank you for watching.
Really usefull stuff
Good stuff Rich! thanks for the explanation about inversions now I get it. waiting for my bass to arrive this morning Lord willing :) Take care and God bless.
This is the best video about triad inversions I've ever seen.
Absolutely love this lesson
Man, thanks so much, Steadman! 🙏🏾
Awesome video, still a lot of style and an excellent teaching, but you are getting better and better to do it each video. Thanks a lot Rich
Thank you so much. I'm trying my best to make (even the smallest) improvements with every single video.
That was cool!
Thanks, Joann. And thanks for watching!
Always appreciate the work man. Bass is so fun, especially with more and more knowledge.
I could not agree with you more!
@@richbrownbass Thanks so much!
Again very clear and useful! Thank you so much.🙏🙏🙏
My pleasure, Isabelle. Thanks so much for watching. 🙏🏾
@@richbrownbass and thank you so much for... giving so much. 🙏😁
Click on every vid just to hear that sweet intro tune :) thanks again for all the videos Rich you're a great teacher!
Haha! Thank you! And thank you so much for watching!
My dogs always bark at the doorbell 🤣🤣
All this inversion gonna have me swingin’ thanks again Mr. Brown!
That's my goal, MrGwg! Thank you for watching!
Great refresher, Rich. It's wonderful how the flavors change when using these inversions.
YES!!!! That's exactly it, Mark. Just using the first inversion can add some life to any groove or walking bassline, or even a solo.
@@richbrownbass ❤Believe it or not, I've never (in all honesty) considered an open E in a Cmaj triad. I've usually looked at it ascending as a country or bluesy walk with the 5th. An open E and low G completely changes the feel. I love your lessons Rich. Although I sometimes feel like a complete dummy, I can still grow. Thank you so much!
Thanks Rich! The example jam is very effective at demoing the practicality of the inversions. Cheers mate!
Thanks very much, Peter. I’m so glad it helps.
Hi rich just wanted to say thank you 🙏.
I appreciate that, Kushal. You are very welcome.
You are truly my mentor ❤❤❤
I’m honoured. 😊
And to add I am now subscribed to your channel .
I truly appreciate that. Thank you!
As always a great lesson. Funny that I have been doing triad inversions through the circle of fifths this week so a great enhancement to what I have been working on. Thanks Rich
Can you explain your process for it?
@@AlexandarShmex en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_of_fifths#/media/File:Circle_of_fifths_deluxe_4.svg Play each triad in the circle of fourth or fifths as per the posted graphic starting from the 1, then 3rd, then 5th, then 8th
cool!
That Moolon sounds incredible.
Grazie.
Great teacher, thanks a lot!
Thank you so much, Michele. I truly appreciate that.
Hello! I didn't know that you were one of the Five Elements playing with Steve Coleman. That band is gorgeous! Will you play in Cascina (Pisa), Italy, on the 30th of April 2023? I thank you so much for the Brown'stone channel! I am one of your 60.000 students :-)
i think im on my third (or fourth) time watching this video!
👍🏾😎
Thanks for making these basic theory videos on a 4 string. It's super helpful as a visual reference compared to the 5 or 6.
You're welcome. 👍🏾
👍
You silly goose and your intros!!
Ok Rich…we’re you sitting in on my lesson today????
My teacher literally assigned me this for this week’s homework!!!!
Great lesson. When do you like to use these inversions in a song?
I use them all the time for bass fills, solos, and they’re great for walking bass lines.
👍🏾😃
Awesome lesson. What did you use for that beat to play to??
Thank you, Fred. I'm using the BeatBuddy drum pedal. If you want to know more about it, you can check out this review.

When I was in 3rd grade we had two music teachers. One was very nice , but that same year he passed away. That left a very mean evil woman as the teacher. I was physically assaulted by her during class and when my mom found out, she beat the teacher up in the parking lot.... so in short I never learned to read musical notation lol
What a sad and funny story. I taught myself to play and never focused on reading. I can get by, but it is easily and by far my biggest weakness. 😢
Thanks for the vid. But is high F low A then D still the first inversion at about 8:44?
Good questions, Christophe. It absolutely is. Any configuration of those notes in that specific sequence will function as the 1st inversion of a Dmin triad. I think that's pretty cool.
@@richbrownbass I really thought it was about the height of the notes, not really about the temporal order. And Wikipedia seems to agree: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inversion_(music)#Chords But anyway your lessons are gorgeous. I hope I can travel to Toronto next year and try to have a personal lesson!
🧐
Good lesson but it sounds like your bass is out of tune.
👍
