Ive found Builtright Industries is the best solution for mounting in my 16 f150. Ive paired it with the RAM mount system. I just got one for my Gen 1 Raptor also! I think i finally found a mount on Amazon that can handle the iPad Pro without affecting visibility out of the windshield, and steady enough for rough trails. Thanks for the metal plate idea! I will be adding that next!
Thanks man. Send me some pics once you have the new solution in place. There are so many option out there and the BuiltRight Base really is a great platform for all of them.
And yes this is a great addition to any GenII Raptor...I have one and love that thing...
That is cool with the magnet. I did a cheaper option with my iPad mount and ram ball. But on mine I got a desktop iPad mount and bolted it to the built right so I could have a long arm that I could move down and to the right of the sync 3 screen so I dont lose windshield space. It also has thumb screws so I can put it away and not attract thieves as well. Also I have taken it to Mojave on the jumps and washouts without it falling off once so I can attest to built rights awesome mount. I might take it off later and reinforce it like you did but so far no issue and I love the way it sits I wish I could post a picture here of my setup.
Thanks for the walkthrough and metal support tip on the underside. I installed on my 2012 and ended up using 2” fender washers cut into rectangles so they’d clear the dash. Mounted a single arm RAM mount to hold my iPhone. Should be ready to go for trails!
nice man, You don't really need the reinforcement but they way I drive off-road I know I need it.
New iPad mini in a case with the Quad Lock stick on mount connected to a RAM short arm is rock solid, simple, and fewer parts, not to mention it blocks less of your view out the windshield.
A mini is far better yes. But even still I would recommend 2 arms. The vibration of off-roading gets super annoying after a while with a single arm
iPad Mini, single Ram ball, arm and mount FTW!
Very common solution. Works great on the street. But offroad it moves too much and a 2nd arm is needed. I have a few friends that ran that setup and all complained about movement and vibration on the trails. Recently saw a solution with 2 arms on an iPad mini back to the BuiltRight base and it was solid.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I've been jumping my Raptor with this system for 5 years with no issues. You'd be surprised how hard you can crank down on those Ram mounts. It vibrates a little but not enough to irritate or prevent reading the screen.
@@kahuna.9170 that's good to know.
I love my builtright Ind. mount. Paired mine with a RAM mount for my phone, I'm probably gonna add another RAM mount for the passenger side as well.
Really is a great flexible and simple base.
Great content per usual!
Thank you 🙏
I have a suggestion....your magnet would hold better if there were no slots (more steel for the magnet) so I would bolt onto the mount an 1/8” thick plate a little bigger than the magnet...now your magnet hold on even better...
Great idea. was thinking if I actually needed to do it or not. I have some scrap steel I can use and going to try it out. Thanks. Will do an update on a few weeks as I get more suggestions from people for ways to use the mount.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Are you having issues with the setup you filmed? I am wanting to add an IPad mount to my Raptor and was going to duplicate your system
Yeah, as the Op suggested I added a flat metal plate to the top to get better contact with the magnet and saw a huge improvement. Much better hold.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad Thanks
I saw someone use a suction cup to the window and mounted to the iPad for more rigidity
Nvm just saw he end of the video lol that’s the guy I was talking about haha
🤣🤣 yeah man. All the parts on how to build his mount are in the description. Very cool idea from August.
How has this set up held up so far?
So far so good.
I’ve got the builtright on mine also but haven’t mounted my iPad on it yet. Not sure if I want it so far into my view but we will see. Thought about using the RAM floor mount so it’s better for a passenger but could also be moved up to the same place as yours. Don’t know yet. Also have a Garmin inreach and possibly radio scanner to install. I’ve thought a out reinforcing it with steel as well, I like your solution. For your magnet mount I wonder if screwing a solid flat plate to the builtright mount would give it an even stronger magnetic stick?
I had the same dilemma. The passenger mounts always had it too low or too far away to be useful for me. When your going down the trails at 60 mph I needed a way to quickly glance at maps and keep going. It only takes a 1 sec distraction to cause a disaster at those speeds on the trails.
As for the plate, yeah I agree. Going to bolt on a plate and try it out.
it looks like it would obstruct your field of view when looking right. How did you eventually like it? Why not Ipad Mini with Ram mounts?
John Gordon Older Ipad Minis don’t have the processing power to run the app smoothly. You need a Pro or brand new Mini.
I really like the magnetic mount because on slow trails where I need to see more, I can easily remove it. Can’t do that with a Fixed Ram Mount. At least not in a few seconds. I also don’t want a giant advertisement on the dash telling thieves “break into this one, large IPad inside somewhere”. With the magnetic mount it’s a quick removal and storage hiding any evidence of an iPad.
What app were you using. Looks sweet
THE XBOX CAMPER best app for off-roading: LeadNav. Highly recommend it and been using for a couple years now. Check out my trail maps basic videos for more details.
Keep It Dirty Off-Road awesome. Thanks. About to download it now. Killer truck btw. I’m currently piecing my mount kit
Where are the mounts for 2016 SuperDuty CB mounts?
Should be a few out there. Super duty and f150 cabs are very similar too
HELP!! Years later…still favor the mob armor iPad mount. Or would the RAM mount be better?
I ask because I’m about to buy one or the other lol
Starting to do Arizona Raptor runs this year. I want a good solution for the iPad.
Check out our updated Gen1 rehab video. In the interior video we moved over to the ram mounts.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad ok perfect. I do that. thanks for always getting back to me. Raptor on brother!
Hi while opening up the tray my white clips fell inside, any way to reach to them cant see them anymore from the top
No way to reach them. Ford changed the clip design in 2019 and the new ones pop off easy. Clips are like $3 each too. I bough a bunch because I kept loosing them when doing this and other mods
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad I can get it from dealership or from amazon?
Dealer. Have not found them on amazon
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad thanks. Have a good weekend.
Hey Helio, what cell phone mount do you have just above and to the left of the AC vent?
where did you get the supports for underneath the tray?
Frank Misuraca typical stock available at any Lowe’s or Home Depot.
What’s the mount your using for your phone?
Mob Armour magnetic mount. Direct link on my amazon page here:
www.amazon.com/shop/heliomuro
What app do you use with your iPad?
LeadNav. It’s the best app for off-roaders. It’s a pay app but totally worth it
Ok cool I have a Polaris rzr and have polaris ride command gps. But I’m looking to get a raptor was curious what people are using for gps
99tmsmith you’ll see that Lead Nav is quickly becoming the standard for off-roading. A lot of the features from the RZR app and then some.
Horrible idea
