Happy library patron here, reporting that the library not only survived, but is thriving! Nearly nine years after this video came out, I found myself watching this video through a link from the summer reading program, where they library is celebrating 50 years as a combined system. Happy Birthday, CRRL! You are the best.
I Loved it! I am a frequent patron of the Salem and downtown Fredericksburg branches. It's nice to see that we can still have a sense of humor during the economic crisis and budget cuts. Great Job !
Central Rappahannock Regional Library System rocks! Love the lyrics and the music. "Libraries are the epitome of cool!" -- and libraries WILL survive! Love this music video!
As a librarian AND homeschooling parent, I thought this was ABSOLUTELY brilliant!! You need to take this act on the road! Have you considered doing state Library Association meetings to spread the word? You folks rock! :)
You ladies and gentlemen all rule!! I lost my librarian job in a budget cut and am longing to get back. You make me proud to be a public librarian always in my heart--and soon again in a library branch, I hope!
I'm so pumped at seeing these librarians using humor to make a point. I volunteer at Salem Church Branch and I think those folks were the best! Particularly like the cardboard pic of Barbara's head being waved back and forth! Lol!
Love our library! Great show -- and you folks really do know how to squeeze the last bit of value out of a dollar. Thank you all for everything you do!
Me too. This is very poignant. Sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious, rife with enthusiasm and fun. A great response to adversity. A tribute to the vulnerable humanity of all who created this gem! I've watched it over and over.
Wow! The CRRL rocks and I'm very proud of my hometown, Fredericksburg, Virginia and all the talented and dedicated folks who work at the fabulous Central Rappahannock Regional Library. Thanks so much for sharing this fun and important message. Libraries are truly places where you discover all kinds of wonderful things, including very hip librarians! Bravo!
Rock on, Librarians! (Proudly married to the girl of my dreams, who ran the A-V department at one of our small local libraries until she retired a couple of years ago.)
I didn't take the comment about home schoolers as a knock. They're right we WOULD be upset. I took it as not wanting to make cuts in an area that would upset and impact home schoolers. Librarians - I have reposted your most excellent video as part of my blog series on making videos. As an example of how any point can be made with video. And if librarians have discovered the power of RUclips, it's about time business owners stopped being afraid of the camera and followed your lead. Great work!
libraries are an essential part of any society and will always exist in some form or another. Knowledge is an invaluable asset to our continued survival and cognizance.
I watched this video thinking surely it was filmed in some progressive CA library system only to find O-M-G it's a VIRGINIA library system!!! (I'm in Richmond) WOOT!! You librarians RAWK!! Thanks for all you do to spread the word about books and the power of knowledge! Best, Monica
Loved your video! Our libraries in Bolton, England are facing the same problems and your video cheered us all up !!! Many thanks XXX Books will always be cool ! x
It's interesting to note original production date of this video - laplus lechange, laplus dememelamemchoix (the more things change, the more they remain the same). A clever adaptation of the song! This very creative library system deserves some kind of award or recognition. 'Hope they continue with a reasonable budget as I am sure they can create some incredibly creative programs and services. Budget cuts and hold the line budgets remain real for so many of us. Keep up the good work.
I think this is creative and very funny. I am not sure why anyone would be embarrassed. It is a problem the country over. I wish my local librarians were cool like this.
I didn't see the knock to homeschoolers, what I heard was, they depend on public libraries to fill out their own curriculum. This is a great way to share the message
Fabulous facilities. It looks like you are doing more than "surviving". Our little library in North Versailles, Pennsylvania operates out tiny walk-in closet of a space. And whether we survive or not is very, very problematic.
Most people haven't learned to apply two very important lessons in life: Learn to accept things you cannot change (it's a fact: stress kills!), and when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! Turn the other cheek, make lemonade, and always look on the bright side of life. I say do another video, but make it good! Very creative and appealing to breadwinners. I am going to share this on Facebook. YOU: Spread the word, get them recognized and get their budget paid for! We CAN do it!
Brilliant. very well done. If you want more info on the history of the library, I just read a great book on Kindle. It's called The Origins of the Library and it's on the kindle store. Really interesting actually.
@jaleraas Thanks! We really do love home schoolers! They would be the first to complain (and rightly so) if we started offering condensed books instead of the real thing.

I borrowed a book from the library on Time Travel. I returned it two weeks before I borrowed it.
This is brilliant! It's great to see people having so much fun like this. Let's never take for granted our libraries and our librarians!
I Loved it! I am a frequent patron of the Salem and downtown Fredericksburg branches. It's nice to see that we can still have a sense of humor during the economic crisis and budget cuts. Great Job !
Adorable! Righteous! Creative silliness! With such juiciness as this, no way will our libraries fall to budget cuts! They wouldn't dare!

I love seeing real library staffers in musical action, addressing real problems in a positive way. Keep up the good work!
I love how they try to get into it, and they just don't have rhythm. Adorable!

These are my darling local librarians, singing and dancing. So darling! Really a wonderful library system.
Me too. This is very poignant. Sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious, rife with enthusiasm and fun. A great response to adversity. A tribute to the vulnerable humanity of all who created this gem! I've watched it over and over.
Great job library people, the amount of work for that engaging product is evident!

I always knew we librarians have more in us than most people think...this proves it! Way to go! I'm sending this to all the librarians I know.
The lyrics are epic... it's just so funny and entertaining! You all look like you had a great time making it :D
I just watched this because I read about it in a journal article (I'm studying my for masters) and I was like "I have to go find this video" lol.
SAME
I love libraries, but I love librarians even more! Who says we aren't cool?
Thumbs up!
Rock on, Librarians!

Who could have disliked this?
hats off to Central Rappahannock Regional Library!
Central Rappahannock library rocks! Let's hope Guv McD hears this!
Being a librarian, this is great! :-)
Makes me feel proud to be a library major in college
@roachqueen32 Come now. (Public) libraries are typically anti-censorship. And how is it "embarrassing to libraries?" I think it's awesome!
Brilliant. very well done. If you want more info on the history of the library, I just read a great book on Kindle. It's called The Origins of the Library and it's on the kindle store. Really interesting actually.
This is funny I love it!
I have absolutely no idea how I ended up in this part of RUclips but I'm glad I did 😂
You go, librarians!
Epic!
This was hilarious!
Apparently, librarians can't dance, lip-sync, or write decent lyrics,
but ya gotta love the message!
@jaleraas As a homeschool family, I don't think they were knocking us at all. Homeschoolers *would* be peeved by condensed books. :)
Manga is awesome! And cute!
Other than knocking home schoolers (boooo!) this video is totally, totally cool!
This actually made me cry (in a good way I think) :D
Question: why can't my library be as awesome as y'alls!?
@jaleraas Thanks! We really do love home schoolers! They would be the first to complain (and rightly so) if we started offering condensed books instead of the real thing.
@crrlvideo Yeah, I guess you're right.
HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
AWESOME!!!!
Librarians are doing it for themselves.
@roachqueen32 - Well my gosh, here it is. You sure proved me wrong.
Proof librarians have no rhythm.
This is embarrassing to libraries.
But you probably won't allow this comment to post, will you?
I wish the librarians from my local library were as awesome as you guys! Great video :)
